Got to post 19000 and I didn't even know it. Thanks Irene, Karen and Virgil, I thought I was going to do that all by myself.

From what I've read - nobody likes it - It's confusing... people are just standing around - and depending on where you are standing - you have to push through the crowd to get up front when you're number is called. They are also apparently doing it randomly - when you get to the top of the elevators - you are given a number - and that is your boarding number - you may be the first one there - and they give you a 3. I hope that it doesn't last - I'm not really sure what was wrong with the previous system that they felt the need to change it.... I don't think the Scuba's knocked too many people over in the rush to be first in line on the 10 day... :) ...

Sharon will not be happy with this procedure. It will be nasty at the top of the elevators if she does not get #1.

Gosh, I did not even notice - oh well.......as they say, maybe next time....But we will be on our cruise then....I hope Mary is right and they STOP the foolish boarding procedures. We stay at the Port so we can get there early - knock everyone down, and relax on board the ship. Does this mean that if we get there early, we may need to wait for HOURS to board....Tell me it isn't so....

Conrats to Pam on post #19,000 & reply #19000!

Irene -- since you are going soon, you will have to fill us all in on the boarding process. Some people are saying that they are giving out the numbers randomly, others say you get a number based on how early you are there, like the 1st 150 are in group 2, etc. It will be interesting to see. We are always there early and get on board right away.

Now I have power and a phone that worked, I called DCL and they disavowed any knowledge of the new boarding process with numbers. They "quoted" their official boarding time was 1:00......and they did not give out number a la SW airlines...

I will be gald to report back on what actually happens....My "guess" at the moment is, this may be an "early boarding" trick. So, guest arriving before 1:00 can board "early" based on the number they are given....After 1:00, they may not give out numbers any more. That is my guess.........

Hi again. The new boarding procedures seemed "confused" to me. The old queuing area is now the concierge area, and the main queu is out in the middle of the floor. Fortunately, we are travelling concierge so it was easy for us. But otherwise, they now hand out numbered cards to guests when they check in, and you board by group numbers; kinda like they do on the airlines... no more getting there early to be first in line!!

That was Beano's "live from thread" This was over on Tenor's "live from" thread....

We get to the port early, because me and my daughter did this before, just the two of us, week of Dec. 13, 2003 for a special mommy/daughter Christmas Cruise. This is Hubby's first, and Miss Judit's first. So the last time I came, you went to documents line, and then you just lined up, first come first serve....but noooooooooooooooo.....for the love of Ben and Jerry's I get handed this card....and the number on it is 3.....bummer dude. I said, what's the use of coming so early, if you can't be first???? But no, the system is different now. Groups 1 and 2 boarded first, then 3 and 4, and finally 5 and 6. Which wasn't too dreadful...

And Disney is saying "no" they don't hand out numbers...hmmm - Sharon, for our cruise, tell them there's 50+ in our party... :rotfl2:

Karen -- great picture of Elizabeth. She sure looks mature for her age. My 11 year old doesn't look that mature.

She certainly DOESN'T look like that ALL the time... that's just her 'movie star' persona for Halloween... I don't think I could deal with that every day!!!

But it does ring true to the old Anheuser-Busch commercial where the teenager leaves the house looking like a teenager, puts on the makeup, etc and buys beer illegally... makes you think about how much a little hair and makeup can do!

That makes sense, Irene. Barb (inkcognito) is on the 11/5 - according to the boarding procedures thread - so, DIS'ers will get the detailed scoop from her...

Halloween plans for tonight...we're masquerading as a normal, sane family...

Actually, last year was the 1st year we weaned the kids from All Hallow's Eve- we kinda sprung dinner and a movie on them as a special suprise treat-don't think they put it together, not doing the whole costume decision process before the big day - This year, the kids are looking forward to doing dinner and a movie again. Friends are joining us this year...I think we're going to see Wallace and Grommet - I voted for Zorro, but I got overruled...

Last time we cruised with Barb, I think because she is a VIP, she got to be in the first group that boarded (concierge) and all of us "poor people" were standing in the line. It will be interesting to see what happens. I do believe that groups 1 & 2 will probably be VIP's

Glad you are safe Irene!

Bummer about the 'new' boarding process. I usually fly the day b4 the cruise and use DCL transportation. We don't get to the port til noon or later so there is no line.
