We're thinking of just taking a taxi to Chankanab on our own for the day. Anyone done this?

My sister and I did... it was $10 for the cab ride, and (I think) $10 to get in... we didn't do the dolphin encounter, but watched others who did. We just swam and hung out, wandered through the 'nature trail' (met up with the largest lizard I've ever seen... about the size of a medium sized dog, and hissing like crazy). I hadn't brought my snorkel gear, or I would have gone snorkeling.

We will probably go back there on this trip- I'm thinking of going the 'no-excursion' route, and just spend some family time... we'll see... lots of time to think.

speaking of....Jim or Sharon, did Matt lose his phone that night or were his friends just screwing around? I know Lisa kept trying to call him and someone kept telling her they weren't Matt and they found his phone and were keeping it for themselves. While she was with us she must have tried calling Matt 20 times, but it was never him. She seemed pretty upset about it and finally just wanted to go back with her group. I wondered if the phone was really lost or one of Matt's friends was just doggin' her.

Sorry about this part of the evening. The phone was not lost. Matt basically got tired of answering the phone and gave it to some people in his group. She has no reason to call Matt like that.

We have talked to Lisa and again reminded her that she is not to call unless it is an emergency. Talking to her brother during Night of Joy is not an emergency. She has yet to figure out that teen age boys (at least Matt) do not want to spend time of the phone.

He lost his phone AGAIN??????? He had just 'lost' it (on the kitchen counter) during the DIS Meet the weekend before ... twice in two weeks... that kid needs one of the old style 'bag phones' that we had in the early 90's! He'd never lose THAT!!!!

He never lost the phone. One time he just didn't want to answer it and the other time he did not want to fess up that he left it at home.

That is why all your kind comments last week was appreciated.....at times he can be such a teen ager! :rotfl:

So basically about the time Jim was sitting down.....for LUNCH!!! ;) :rotfl2:

Lisa and I have breakfast together on Mondays. This Monday she wants to have it on the Pier which means getting there to watch the sun rise.

I'm trying to teach her to be an earlier riser. That way I would have at least one woman in the house that won't complain about waking up.

Let's just ask the kids what they think. Oh yea that's right....we can't yet!

Tonight is my night to take Matt to TKD. Thankfully it is right next to a bar with TVs so I get to watch Survivor. :cool1:

Ah, that explains it. I didn't realize she had that calling restriction in place or I'd have reminded her about it. I can understand why Matt wouldn't want to be bugged all the time!! She was pretty upset. I think after the first time someone said "I found this phone and it's mine now" she really felt like it WAS an emergency. Poor little thing. After trying several more times to get ahold of Matt she wanted to go back with the group so she called her leader. The leader said "We're in Fantasyland." ....HA! It was so packed at the MK I made Lisa call her back and find out WHERE in Fantasyland she was. Where she was (behind a landscaped area at a table) I don't think we would have readily found her on our own!!

Btw, did Lisa tell you that they didn't want to let her go with us. Apparently THIS leader had not spoken with you guys about us meeting up. I tried to call your cell phone and left a message. Finally they decided that Lisa wasn't the type of child who would go off with someone she didn't know and they asked Lisa my name....at which point I showed them my KTTW card as proof! ;)

I'm glad we didn't plan to have the girls spend the night together....either we would have had to take Lisa back early or KT would have had to spend longer at the MK. As it was KT was in tears as we tried to get through the crowd just to get out of there. She is definitely the type who doesn't like to be confined in any way and I think the massive number of people were making her claustrophobic!

Ok, Night of Joy is off the list of "things to do".

I really want to snorkel somewhere at Cozumel. After all, it has the best reefs anywhere. So if someone is planning to do that, can I tag along?

Hi everyone! We just got in from our Wonder cruise! The weather was great. We had a modified itinerary. We had our sea day on Monday, and Nassau in Tues and we did not dock in Nassau until almost 2pm. I can not believe that there is another horrible storm in the Gulf and as soon as I heard it was headed for Texas I thought of Monica and family. I hope they are safe and sound! While on board, I rebooked a 3 night cruise for CJ (10) and I. I noticed b4 we left that Dreams had some cheap room inventory for some sailings in January. So I went ahead and booked it. I am not sure if we will go yet, it is still up in the air. I hope everyone is okay and SAFE!
Angie, I picjed you up some DCL coloring books and DCL taffy for the girls. I need your address.

I don't think we have mentioned that Kevin's sons and their families actually live in LaPorte, TX. It's on the north side of the bay, and has been mentioned as an area that's likely to be under water. We're so glad they're out of there. The latest projected track is just barely to the east of LaPorte.

Mike just played a soccer game in La Porte last weekend! I am so glad I told my work I wasn't coming in Wed a.m. and got out early. It took John and my friend's husband 11 hours to make the same trip we made in 5. Another friend evacuated early with her kids to family in dallas - she made the trip in her normal 4 hours - it took him 15. Major kudos to local and state governments planning evacuations early!!

You know you won't get a MarkRG button on that cruise. :duck:

Yes, I know. And I only hope I can manage. Not a big DIS showing on this cruise. The thread itself barely has made it to page 3!!! I think I'm going to lay low on this cruise. Let them have their "fun"....but know in my heart they have no idea what "fun" really is!! :)

Not until later in the month...I would love to sail with you though..I just kinda picked a date based on what specials Dreams has on the main page.

Are you keeping us in suspense, or are you really not sure? Maybe some more tastings are in order! Stop at the chocolate booth in Italy during F&W. They have Banfi!
