We could use some rain too so in the spirit of wanting rain in Illinois.

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head Lyrics

Raindrops are falling on my head
and just like the guy who's feet are too big for his bed,
nothing seems to fit
those,
raindrops are falling on my head, they keep falling

so I just did me some talking to the sun,
and I said I didn't like the way he got things done,
sleeping on the job
those,
raindrops are falling on my head they keep falling

But there's one thing, I know
the blues they sent to greet me won't defeat me.
It won't be long 'till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep falling on my head
but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red.
Crying's not for me, cause
I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
because I'm free
nothing's worrying me

It won't be long till happiness steps up to greet me

Raindrops keep falling on my head
but that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turning red
crying 's not for me
Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complaining
because I'm free
Nothing's worrying me

If anyone else is following the topic on the main board, is there any other thoughts?

Sorry, no. :( Have had precious little time to DIS these past few days and I don't suspect there will be a big increase in the next month.

In fact it's ironic...Mike said in the car yesterday on the way to Dave & Busters "I was looking at the Double Scoop thread :earseek: and there's not that much going on over there....not moving NEARLY like the 10 day thread moved."

I'll have to tell him I woke up to SEVEN pages today....how fast does he WANT it to move along?

We usually try to survive with the swamp cooler on until July,

I'll bite (if it hasn't already been asked) what's a SWAMP COOLER?

Pardon my New England ignorance (where we don't have swamps), but WHAT on EARTH is a SWAMP COOLER????:confused3 (OK... we've got swamps in FL... but I STILL don't know what a swamp cooler is??)

See, I wasn't the only one!! I'd read through all SEVEN pages before asking questions, but soon the kids will be up wanting breakfast and I"ll be out of time!

I think it is very hard for someone to jump in and join after everyone else has been talking for a while. I had to do that with the 10-Night, and was tempted to give up....but I am an outgoing, chatty person...so it was easy for me to worm my way into the conversation (butt in).....

I STARTED the 10 day thread and then got busy with life and fell away. I know several times I tried to come back but everyone seemed to know each other so well and I couldn't keep up...."why is everyone so excited about a TOP?" "why does GarRy spell his name so weird?" "why does everyone rush to Vegas to meet Stacey?" :duck:

Finally I bit the bullet and jumped in with both feet and before long I was celebrating TOP's and chatting right along with everyone else. I'm SOOOOOO glad I did!! ;) Sad to say, but these people (10 day'ers and Double Scoopers) are some of my best friends---at least I talk to them MUCH more regularly than my REAL LIFE friends and I know more of what's going on in their lives!

I've got to set this straight, Kevin makes great coffee, but the good cook in the family is me. By coincidence, I also read recipes.

I only do that if it's my first time or if I'm baking and proportions need to be right. Otherwise it's "a pinch of this" "yeah, this looks like a teaspoon" "add this till it looks right" "add this till it tastes right." ;)

It's hard to get a coveted family recipe from my mom b/c she's always cooked this way and has tweaked over the years....most of my recipes from her say "about" so much of an ingredient!

Short answer, a fan with water saturated pads sitting in front of it. Works pretty well in dry climates. Kevin will probably be along to give you the long answer.

ah ha. got my answer!

is this an offical contraption or just something you jimmy-rig?
sound like something you'd find in west virginia! (love ya, Virgil!!)

Sandi, you still don't drink coffee? I thought that was a required course in college!

I BOUGHT coffee in college, but I only used it to stay up to study. I'd put the cup in front of me and tell myself that if I started to fall asleep, I'd have to drink the stuff (BLECH!) When I was done studying, I'd throw it out.

After getting hooked on lattes, and then Disney cruise coffee, I'm now an offical coffee drinker! :)

"You can sleep when you're 30."...

That's so not true. I'd love a daily nap. Naps are wasted on babies who don't appreciate them!

Uh Oh, Mary. I forgot that DH rode his :moped: to work today. But it can rain all night long tonight. :)

Well maybe we could have rain up north today and then it can move down by you when he gets home. Oh if it was only that easy to control.

And its funny... she had a 4.0 GPA, and was only going to do the job til she decided which grad school she wanted to go to... that was a year ago... now she doesn't want to leave. (Which is great... that is usually a pretty 'short-lived' job... it gets old fast.) To top it all off, she is one of the sweetest kids I've ever met... so conscientious, never in a bad mood, and more responsible than people twice her age. I hope she never leaves!!!

thin, model, 20 something, cute, beautiful AND all of this??

I don't like her already!

And we are glad you did too!

No worries if life is too hectic right now. Our thread is like a soap opera. You can be gone for a while and catch up in an instant because we are all doing the same silly things.

Or just ask for a recap!

Yeah - a top with Karen, the 10 dayers and the Double Scoopers!

My SIL told me today that she heard that he had a heart attack, with no prior heart defects. In other words, he was scared to death. I'm not sure where she gets her information sometimes.

I have heard of that happening. I remember I went to a meeting in college about hazing and heard a story about a kid tied up, blindfolded and set *next* to the train tracks. He died of a heart attack when he heard a train coming (thinking he was ON the tracks)

I was the only adult waiting in line to have my picture taken with White Rabbit. The poor CM must have thought I was a loon!

ok that should be enough spoiler space. Just remember that the gender of the character and the gender of the person inside might not be the same. Of course this isn't the case with face characters - I think Cinderalla is a woman, but you can't always be too sure about Minnie. :)

heard b/c of the height, both mice were usually of the female persuasion.

Well....we made it through the whole day today with the little dog only having one accident in the house. He loves to go to the door...enjoys being outside after almost 2 years of being an "apartment dog". I still would have just as soon not had a dog again....but this may just work out okay.

The fires have turned south again. They are now burning right over our ridge, again. Tonight Jay and I could see the flames from our back patio. Enough, already. We're hoping that most of its fuel is gone on our side of the mountain.
We ran into some friends tonight who had just come back from their 2nd home in New Mexico.....were here only a couple of weeks...and lost their home here. Tonight they were going to a meeting to see if they could finally go back and see what's salvagable, and begin clean-up. So far, we only know 3 who lost their homes. Most of the structures that burned were cabins for vacationers...and empty. Hallelujah!
Been reading the papers here and it sounds bad. Another article in this mornings paper about the progress, or lack of. Think Rain!! :umbrella:

Did I mention the little dog's name is Ash? I hope it's not an omen. I wanted them to name him Gizmo...he looks like a Gizmo. The other day, Jordan had cleaned her room and found her Furbie. Anyone remember those?? The dog goes totally nuts with that thing. It is soooo funny to watch. And yesterday, I got a fax, and he stood and growled at the fax machine. I guess he's kinda cute.
I remember those well! Alicia two or three of those guys. There was several times I went into her room and shoved aside a pile of clothes and it started to talk.

Furbie!! :rotfl2:
