No, I don't think you are either. We have always felt if the kids/kid likes the babysitter, then they are OK! We always liked the ones that played with Alicia instead of just turning on the TV and reading a book or something.

Sounds like strike three to me!! :sad2:

I hated leaving the kids when they were babies b/c they couldn't TELL me what the sitter did.

Today I'm out of here. :moped: The backpack is filled and not with wine this time. I'll enjoy the local stuff.

If all goes well, tonight I will have dinner with Matt. 6 weeks has been a long time, but I guess that is preparing us for the "empty nest".

There is just one more thing to do today before leaving for the airport. I need to go and drop off a check for my new life insurance policy that goes into effect today. For some reason Sharon wanted it in place before I repelled down a waterfall. :confused3
Smart lady!!

Hey, have more room in the suitcase for another bottle of Tawny??

Tonight should be something like this:

Don't hit 10,000 without me. :rotfl2:

Can't guarantee anything. You know what happens when Amanda and Stacey get on a roll!!

Ok I have a funny Furby story. My MIL bought a couple for me (and herself and my SIL). I had two of them and had them up on our headboard (our headboard has a wide ledge on top. Now for those of you who don't know when you pick up a Furby or did different things with it, then they would talk to you. Well one night in Fall i had the windows open but it was getting cold out. So I woke up at two in the morning and went to close the window. In doing so I knocked the Furby off the headboard which woke it up and he started talking. All this of course wakes Mark up. I try to get the Furby out from behind the headboard with a broomstick and when I pushed it the Furby said "me scared". We got the Furby out and it wouldn't stop talking so I had to put it in another room so it would go to sleep. Needless to say later than morning when Mark was up the batteries came out and the Furbies have been on a shelf in the closet ever since.

I only do that if it's my first time or if I'm baking and proportions need to be right. Otherwise it's "a pinch of this" "yeah, this looks like a teaspoon" "add this till it looks right" "add this till it tastes right." ;)

It's hard to get a coveted family recipe from my mom b/c she's always cooked this way and has tweaked over the years....most of my recipes from her say "about" so much of an ingredient!
See Honey!

We don't need no stinkin' measuring cups...... :teeth:

Speaking of "little dude" does ANYONE ANYONE ANYONE have any clue how the new Turtle Talk thing works at Epcot?? I understand there must be cameras and microphones everywhere, but how to they coordinate facial expressions and body movements to Crush's moods??

When DS was a baby, his sisters were the babysitters. Unfortunately (or fortunately) they went to college and moved away. Now that he's older, and we live out in the middle of nowhere, we can't find a babysitter. None of the teens around 'town' that we know want to babysit. We 'imported' his last sitter from the 'city' 15 miles away. She was great, brought games, movies, science experiments. She got too busy to fit us into her schedule during her jr. year of high school. She starts college next month. Needless to say, we paid her well, probably funded most of her college.;)
Note that MIL and FIL live in the 'city', but have never, ever had DS over or come to our house to watch DS with the exception of the day my mom died. They picked him up from school that day and watched him for a couple of hours.

Isn't that amazing? We saw it on our June trip and loved it!

How they actually do it is still a mystery. However, it's pretty cool isn't it?

Alicia got picked on twice. Crush asked her about swimming, and then made a silly joke about it. Fun! Duuuuddde!!

Yeah - a top with Karen, the 10 dayers and the Double Scoopers!

Ya know, this is a little irritating. I go through SEVEN pages of posts and do the whole "open in a new window" thing so I don't lose my place and BOTH TOPS get stolen by Mary!

Hmmm....I think we found the true pirate:

Our Pal Mickey went psycho on one of our trips (I think it was low batteries) and he would NOT stop talking (with a stutter to boot)
It was during nap time, so I got up, shoved him in the fridge and went back to sleep.

We got up, left for a park and about an hour later I remembered poor Mickey cooling his heels in the fridge!!! :)

OK, time for me to go exercise. I have this Kathy Smith weight training DVD that if I do it 2 or 3 times a week, I'm OK. But it's been at least 6 weeks since I've done this workout, so I won't be able to move tomorrow because of my sore muscles. Must...do...exercise....typing...on...DIS...is...not...exercise...

We did back to back shows on the May trip and KT got picked on twice. The second time, Crush asked her name and she said "KT" and he looked stunned...then said "weren't you....oh nevermind" but still had a puzzled look on his face!! :)

Yo Ho Yo Ho A pirate: Life For Me!

Truth be told I wasn't even trying for either one. :)

Sorry- I gotta do it... one big ketchup post this morning, or I'll never get any work done...

Karen....100% absolutely with you on the babysitter issue. I wouldn't even want to hear one of my kids' friends make a joke like that...it's just not funny. We had a miserable time finding sitters here. Lots of wealthy families whose girls didn't need to work to have money....but we found two who were great. One used to draw for the kids, she was a marvelous artist.

We're almost at the point of not needing one, which almost makes it harder. Now that Elizabeth is in our church's youth group, she doesn't want any of those older girls 'baby sitting' for her (actually, its really just for Christopher), and I can sort of see her point. (But they are the reliable ones!!) Christopher keeps asking me when we can have a BOY babysitter. :confused3 ... life goes on.

Well....we made it through the whole day today with the little dog only having one accident in the house.
Dog... what dog? Did I miss an important 'new-family-member' post? Want another dog? You can have mine! I am ready to ship her out!!!!!!

Best wishes for a safe trip... enjoy your time with Matt! Let's hope you don't need that life insurance... are you sure it covers 'extreme sports' (I know mine didn't when I went skydiving...)

We could use some rain too so in the spirit of wanting rain in Illinois.

Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head Lyrics

Raindrops are falling on my head

And in the spirit of Florida...

Rain, rain, go away,
Come again some other day
Lots of race fans want to play,
Rain, rain go away!!!!!

at least I talk to them MUCH more regularly than my REAL LIFE friends and I know more of what's going on in their lives!

Wow... that sounds familiar!!!

ohiominnie said:
Naps are wasted on babies who don't appreciate them!
Exactly!!! As much as I am a huge race fan, I don't think I've seen every lap of a single Sunday afternoon race ever... I nap for at least 50 laps or so... even when I'm watching from the pool!!!

One of my fondest memories was learning how to make ravioli from my best friend's little old Italian Grandma - she measured nothing - we had to work fast to shove measuring spoons and cups underneath her hands to get an approximation of amounts...just looking at the recipe makes me smile!
