Will Bell Services Hold Luggage without a Stay?

WDW policy is to hold bags for resort guests. Written on the site. You can call and get an answer. You can ask onsite too. They have a published answer there.

They say no such thing for guests of other resorts. One is policy; the other is not.
Reads more like a description of Bell Services. Not necessarily official policy.

But it isn’t worth arguing over — people have clearly had experience leaving items with Bell Services even if not staying overnight.

Quote from the page you reference: Bell Services Cast Members are available to help make your check-in and check-out experiences easier by assisting with your luggage. Please note, gratuities are not included.

There is quite simply no published policy or a guideline or even a specific rule. It is easy to simply agree to disagree, and I am fine with that option.

So you are making an interpretation that a simple description is somehow very narrow, and somehow specific policy.

I thought the same thing because it is a simple description of how Bell Services can assist guests checking-in or checking-out.

OK. Try getting anybody who actually works for WDW to confirm what you are saying. I’ll wait.

In practice it is highly unlikely to encounter an issue.

Policy vs practice:
This is where I can agree that in real life no one is going run in to the answer you got from "Ashton" but again it is simply not a Policy vs practice discussion.

Don't wait we saw the results of your attempt to get "The" answer from a random Chat CM. That is the point several of us on the this topic which is now on it's 3rd page.

Sorry but a Chat CM is even less reliable than a WDW Disney Bus driver answering a hypothetical question about park attractions operational policy much less an answer concerning Resort operational policy.

I have definitely seen them check my name on the check-in list for that resort. They pull up their tablet and check my name vs. a list. They ask if checking in or checking out pretty consistently. But I've never seen them look me up on check-out day - though sometimes they ask approximately what time I expect to pick them up. I think, but could be wrong, they like to organize the storage room a bit based on "in or out" and time expected to pick up.

Maybe I’ll be adding to confusion here, but I’ve seen more than one post recommending that guests transport their luggage and check it at Bell Services to eat breakfast at a different resort on check out day, and I’ve seen reports of success of doing same.

My goodness, I never expected when I asked this question that it would lead to such controvery! Maybe if I had known I would have added "And how much should I tip if I do leave my bag?" 😂

Thank you all for caring and helping with your feedback :)

You should definitely start a spin off “how much should I tip” thread. Name it something really juicy like “thinking about not tipping bell services this time” so it gets clicks. That way I can have two threads to sit here and watch people argue. :-)

In any event, there are at least three different versions of "Can I do this."

The first is: "Is it possilbe for me to do this?" The answer to this one is pretty clearly yes. Bell Services doesn't care if you are checking in; checking out; or turning on, tuning in, and dropping out. If you ask them to store your bags, they will.

The second is: "Does Disney management think it is allowed?" I don't know, and I don't know how to reliably get the answer.

The thrid is: Would Miss Manners approve? Again, I do not know, but maybe not? I suspect not.

(And for @GADisneyDad14's edification, she has very firm opinions on tipping. The answer is "Yes, the social compact requires it.")

The easy solution to this is to have breakfast somewhere in the Universal complex and save CBS for another time. That's definitley what I would do---I try not to even go clear across WDW property without a rental car on departure day, let alone crossing Orlando. I bet there is a chocolate french toast thing at Toothsome that's pretty good.

Edited to add: I was wrong. It's a waffle.

There is also a PlanDisney answer that says no. So just like calling guest services, you can ask a yes/no question three different times and get three different answers!

The distinction is that WDW will not confirm YES to dropping luggage at a bell services other than the resort one is staying.

You can call, write, chat, email and nobody will tell you that during a future stay you can drop luggage at bell services somewhere other than the resort you’re staying.

For whatever reason they don’t want to make that specific confirmation, though in practice they are not stopping anyone from doing it.

This may not matter to most people but some readers may be the type that prefer getting 100% assurance from WDW about their plans. I can understand that. In this case WDW is not going to give specific clarification authorizing a future luggage dropoff elsewhere than own resort during the stay. Reassurance is there - everybody is reporting never having a problem in actual practice, but specific reassurance is not going to come from official WDW channels.

ETA - I should add that they will confirm future plans to drop luggage off at one’s own resort.
