Have any of you ever felt this way?

Our family operates under a "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy regarding the man in the red suit. I don't think they believe, but they haven't volunteered and I haven't asked...

Santa must be tired of lugging all of those presents around by the time he gets to our house. He's a bit more practical when filling our stockings, and we have pretty big stockings. Shampoo, socks, snack boxes of cereal, toothbrush, toothpaste, M&Ms, deodorant, pjs, and lifesaver storybooks. Growing up at my house, Santa must have had the same philosophy.

Our Christmas will be pretty small. We've finally joined the modern era. Our big family gift is ATT U-Verse. We had it installed last month and wrapped up the remotes for the kids and opened them early. They will only be unwrapping a few small, inexpensive gifts on Christmas morning. The kids are growing up, they want gift cards to pick out, or save up for their own presents..:lmao:

The more that I think about it, Santa must be tired by the time he gets to my house- he's never put together presents on Christmas Eve either. He's left them for Mom and Dad...:lmao:

I must say it was a relief when Caleb asked me 2 years ago (5th grade) if Santa was real. I asked him what he thought, and he said he thought it was me. I told him he was correct, but did he still want Santa to visit? Santa still comes to the house, but we don't have to be sneaky any longer. I'll just have to get back into the 'real' Santa mode when the grandbaby comes along. Santa fills stockings at our house and leaves out one 'big' thing for everyone. I still like to see the faces on Christmas morning when they see under the tree; selfish on my part, I guess.

We interrupt our regularly scheduled dising for a cruise question....

We plan on booking 3 cabins (10 people) in June '09 as a celebration of my parents' 45th anniversary. If we book and link cabins using our name and Castaway Club number as the primary reservation, does the fate of Palo and shore excursion reservations rest in our hands and alarm clock at the earlier date? Or, every cabin for themselves?

We're advance planning reservation logistics to be prepared for the release of dates, rates, and itineraries...

Any other helpful suggestions to make planning a group trip painless and successful? (Hopefully, coordinating dates with our double scoop friends!!! :thumbsup2 )

I've carried over one of my parents' traditions - All of our presents aren't put under the tree until Christmas Eve after the kids are in bed. My parents always waited until Christmas Eve to cut down on counting, guessing, and peeking. I have to admit, I'm usually finally wrapping presents on Christmas Eve night, so part necessity and part sentimental reasons continue that tradition. I too, like waking up to the kids' exclamations of delight at the mound of presents...

I still call my parents early on Christmas Morning to attempt to wake them up because it's time to open presents!!!

Cameras are off limits for stocking presents which are opened just after climbing out of bed. Then it's breakfast, getting dressed and then finally the rest of the presents. I love to torture them with a list of chores, before presents...:thumbsup2 It's amazing how fast their rooms get clean;)

I was the only Castaway Club member on our cruise. One cabin was in my name, the other in DD's name. I could book excursions for everyone in my cabin on the earlier date, but the girls in the other cabin had to wait. I could book us all in Palo on the earlier date, though. So if all the cabins were in your name, I guess it would work out for you.

Sorry, Virgil, I'm rooting for Pitt!

To the OH Mouse Family ....

GEAUX TIGERS!!!
A co-worker of mine is an OSU fan. He called tonight to say Go Buckeyes. I'm sure we'll have a friendly wager with the prize being a pizza lunch.

If you could add some extra PD and prayers for Kristen's fiance, it would be appreciated. They noticed his eye was starting to bulge, so he had a CT scan on Wednesday. They found a mass growing on his pituitary gland. He had an MRI today, but I don't know anything else. He has no insurance, so he waited to go to the doctor. Now they're worried about his medical bills, too. Surgery is certainly in his future. Thanks.

Lots & lots of prayers and PD :tink: for both Kristen and her fiance!
What a tough....no worse than that....time for her and now both of them.

That's pretty much how it goes here. I think we managed to get the older girls to go along with it until Jared was in about the 5th grade...but Santa still comes, even on a cruise ship. Although I have a feeling he won't find us this year. The older they've gotten, the harder it is to find small things to put in the stockings!
But I tell the kids thatI still believe, and that as long as they do too, Santa will keep coming. So about this time every year, they still believe. Probably hoping for that one extra gift!
But since we've started cruising at Christmas, they have only gotten one (sort of) big present, and maybe one or two smaller.
I'm reserving all of my Santa excitement for when we have grandbabies now.

It feels like I've dropped off the face of the Earth, but I'm here. I guess.
The healing and the therapy are going okay. Still not where I thought I'd be 3 months after surgery....oh well.

I just feel so far behind in absolutely everything.....healing, paperwork, Christmas....and am so not ready for this cruise. I hate to say it, but I wish we weren't going.
I think once we're there, I'll be okay. But right now, I just want to stay home.
It seems to have added more stress than I really need right now.

We had planned (and paid) for Jordan's boyfriend to go, but he just found out that he was accepted into the Tempe, AZ police academy and they start on Dec 26th.....and told him "now or never"....so we had to cancel him...at a loss of $$ and much to Jordan's dismay. Their only lesson is "Welcome to the world of adulthood"!

So anyway....I'm still here...just trying to get things done.

Irene, we had dinner last night at a new sports bar and restaurant outside of town....they have this awesome "Smithwicks" neon sign on the wall. I tried to get Jared to climb up there and nab it for you, but he wouldn't do it.
:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Stacey,

Sorry to hear that things aren't going as well as you had hoped. Keep your chin up & thinking positive thoughts. You'll have a good time on your cruise once you get there.

Thanks, Angie. I know we will. I'm just frustrated with all that needs to be done, and then having plans get messed up....and the limited ability I have. I can't accomplish nearly what I used to do in one day.
But like I told the kids...."Welcome to being grown up"!! :rotfl: :sad1:

Gosh - thanks for thinking of me....:)

I guess I shall just have to have a :drinking1 in honor of the new sports bar and Smithwicks....(sorry Kiki)....

And are you talking about GaRRy - "red suit" get it...

ooops....

Firemen now wear yellow - don't they??????

My favorite Santa story was when I was (much) older and Santa Sam was assembling my present after I was (asleep) in bed. We had a hard freeze and power outages. Poor Santa - hammer - hammer - hammer - power goes out - Santa swears (guess he hit his thumb). Power comes on, the scene repeats itself. I am in bed, I am asleep, I am not to know .....

The bandaids by the "easy to assemble" bench gave away Santa's helper that year...

I was allowed to open my stocking before my Father came home...he worked nights when I was little and I had to wait until he came home to open my presents. The entire Neighborhood was finished and I was still waiting...Thus, to this day, we wait to open presents, now it is after we come back from church....it is so much more fun when you have time....
Guess I had better say "thanks folks"....
