Most people Mike sees with MRSA say "I think he got bit by a spider." So it's worth watching closely.

Of course they all say that they got bit by a brown recluse - even though there are no brown recluse spiders this far north. Seems people think that spiders lay in wait and jump out on people......:confused3

Go outside and look north and you will see another rocket contrail!!!!!!!

At least that works for me when Sam calls.....

Actually, we DO have them here, that was our first thought....but not at this time of year. I'm still thinking Kissing Beetle....but definitely watching for fever and red lines.
He says it still hurts, and it is still swollen....but no more nausea.

Another U-T.O.P.! with Virgil!..
and still those icky bugs.....;)

What a cute bear card! Happy Birthday, Frances!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday with their families. Alicia is working today, then we will go to my in-laws for luminarias and posole. Kevin is making that, smells good! Tomorrow we will be here, in pajamas. Don't forget the WDW parade!

BEAUTIFUL!! Must be the new kitty?

Thanks for the reminder about the parade. I'll be in my jammies for as long as I can get away with it.

Megan called to tell us that Dave presented her with her engagement ring. That was the 1st time (for the tears).

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day.....we are...it's a beautiful day and we're really enjoying our day at home together.

:santa: :santa: Merry Christmas to everyone! :santa: :santa:

Hope you are all having a wonderful day with your families! This is the first Christmas that we have spent without any of the rest of our family... It hasn't been as bad as I anticipated... except for Christopher's puke-fest on Elizabeth's carpet at 1AM. Yippee.

He's fine now... I think he has finally learned his lesson about why we tell him that he needs to balance his junk intake with his 'normal food' intake...

Despite the fact that we said that our new floors were our Christmas present to each other, Santa still brought me a GPS, a wallet, a pedometer, and book that I wanted. (Santa doesn't listen very well...)

We're off to our friends' house for dinner... we were going to go out to dinner, but they invited us over and said that we shouldn't be without extended family for Christmas. (They were at our house last night... this is their 5th Christmas here too... I think the 5th year is the hardest...)

I surprised my Mom... I sent her a Christmas card with a copy of my flight itinerary... I'm going up there for a surprise visit on the 10th... I haven't seen her or my dad since either of them have been sick... I just need to go see for myself that everything is OK and spend some "Mom & Dad time". Having that to look forward to has made today MUCH better than it would have been!

Merry, merry!!!! Off to eat prime rib, etc!!!

A pedometer. That means you can get out and do some running! :yay:

Prime rib for dinner. That sounds great. For our Christmas dinner the kids cooked hot dogs over the fire. Sounds strange, but for us that is a real treat since we are actually home.

Í'm the only one that got out of their PJs today. The rest have hung right in there. I had to go out for a run and then right back int the PJs.

No... walking. I can't run. Wrecked my knees skiing and my back being clumsy when I was a teenager... I told you, I'll only run if I'm being chased.

We didn't have to cook it... so it was great!!!!!

We walked today... which was about it. Christopher didn't get out of his pj's till it was time to go to dinner...

Homemade mac-n-cheese with a side of green peas for our dinner. Easy and yummy!
Kids stayed in their jammies all day. Mike and I got out of jammies and into sweats. Good thing too b/c my neighbor came over with our Christmas gift. And he got to see me with horrible bed-head!
Good thing it wasn't Cowboy! HA!

Well, our prime rib is finally in the oven, it's 6 pm. Shows how lazy our Christmas has been. My SIL called to say my brother and family were stopping by, that slowed things down a bit. Took the opportunity to get some family pictures, don't know when we will see my nephew again. He's going to Portland soon for culinary school.

We already watched two movies today, Little Shop of Horrors and Howl's Moving Castle. Odd choices I know, but they were from Santa. Tonight we will watch Harry Potter V or maybe Hairspray. My niece stayed to eat with us.

A lovely, lazy Christmas! Hope you all had a lovely one as well!

We are just now having a "grab what you can" dinner. The shrimp kabobs will have to wait until tomorrow night.

Jared got a fever and the redness and swelling in his arm increased, so we took him to the ER.
Good thing we did. It IS Staph, and the doctor is treating it as if it were the MRSA staph, just in case. She took a culture to send out.
She cut a big hole in it to drain it....I've never seen anything more disgusting....even Jay's fingers weren't that gross. Jared has a lot of pain, so he has painkillers, two kinds of antibiotics and a nausea med. They ran IV antibiotics while we were there.
They drew all around the redness with a marker, and packed the abcess and he has to go back down tomorrow around 6 pm for them to check to see if the redness is decreasing and remove the bandages.
Pretty serious stuff. Poor kid...it hurt like heck, but he did pretty good. I'm not allowed to tell that he had some tears.
Oops.

If nasty bloody pus came out, it's more than likely MRSA. Mike sees that several times a week. I just hate it when he comes home with a shirt that took the brunt of the pus explosion. And yeah, they hurt like crazy! If the pus doesn't come out, it won't get better, so it's imperative to squeeze the heck out of it.
Sounds like they're hitting him hard with antibiotics. Well, this is a Christmas to remember, eh?

I couldn't tell you if the blood was from where the doctor cut the hole in his arm, or if it was in with the pus. (Sorry all the rest of you!!). I just know that it reminded me of the movie "Aliens" because it looked like he had a giant snake crawling out of his arm. She (doc) made a pretty big hole.
And to add insult to injury, they only had one color Coban...

He's trying to see if he can keep some Sierra Mist down. He up-chucked in the hospital, and all the way home, in spite of the anti-nausea meds.
