Apple drops the word 'Computer' from their company name..

Sounds like they want to sell more gadets and dump the Macs entirely now, from reading that transcript.

I read the notes from the Keynote address. To me it sounds more like the company has expanded so much so that it's not just all about "computers" but so much more.

That's my thoughts too - a brand name repositioning...

That is interesting. The part I'm still real skeptical about is this Apple TV. The internet is still not such a robust thing as to be able to do live unbuffered streams equal in quality to cable/sat/broadcast.

Still sounds like the macs are being shuffled to the back burner some though. I really do forsee a day in the near future where they'll get out of the computer hardware end entirely. They're almost there now, it is basically a pc in a mac designed box.

re: West coast cruising - we have to travel regardless if we cruise Disney - left coast or right coast - I'll just be thankful if we can cruise in 2008 ...How about move Disney to Galveston and then make everyone travel....(except for us.... )

And you heard it here first,,,the 4th Disney ship to be based on the Gulf Coast......

I really do feel the reason they've made the most recent os an intel platform is one day they might just market it as a stand alone os for any computer and get away from actually selling the computer. Not that it would be that bad a thing, might get it more of that market share if it's run on any desktop or notebook.

Long day at work - sorry for the late reply to the postings.....

1. I thought it was interesting how much emphasis was put on the iPhone. I love the form factor - and want a video iPod like that - but do I really want to replace my new Blackberry 8100 - probably not yet - but would I buy a new touchscreen iPod - absolutely.

2. Apple TV - is just them expanding their presence in the home media area - I stream videos all of the time - and this will make it easier.

3. Apple - has been Apple for a few years - they stopped using the computer awhile ago - this just makes it formal - just shows how diverse the company is.

4. Not going to get into the PC vs Mac wars - but suffice it to say - Apple is the only computer maker with a consistently expanding market share. They will never license the OS - too much money in the hardware - their laptops have grown from a 6% to over a 12% market share in the past 18 months.

Yes - OM - I'm surprised that you are following it so closely - when am I going to get to see how you added value to my stock????

I was hoping for a speed bump in the laptop - so I could buy the latest/greatest.....hmmmm may wait a month or two....

But a question has come up, and I need help. Can anyone tell me.....do the staterooms on DCL have heat? I could have sworn that they did NOT....especially after we froze our tushies off on the Mexican Riviera that first night or two.

Yes. They have heat. But I've always been underwhelmed with their climate control system. Turn it up a bit, sweat to death, turn it down a titch, freeze to death. That's why I take Benadryl on the cruise ....otherwise I'd never be comfortable.

Ok, I know Virgil is a nice guy and all. But we invited him into our home approximately 2 1/2 years ago. He showed Mike an iPod and Mike was hooked. Now, here is our collection of Apple branded merchandise collected over those last 2 1/2+ years. (luckily both laptops were funded by Mike's office....whew!)

Mike said the other day "I love Macs!!!!!" To which my reply was "Who is Max and why do you love him???"

Just wanted to forewarn ya'll that if you invite Virgil over, he could start something at your house that you're just not ready to face!!!
