My baby boy got onto the bus this a.m. for his first day at middle school. Now, let's see if he remembers what his bus number is for the ride home
Mom got the "bad mom of the year" award. We forgot to pack a lunch.
and then he had the embarassment of mom showing up at school on the first day...
Normally, he buys his lunch - but, the administration was recommending packing a lunch for the first few days otherwise, he'll run the risk of not having time to eat as they get the system up and running. The lunch accounts roll over year to year and follow the kids through the district, but I budget so they are close to running out at the end of the year - I'm not even sure he would have had enough to buy lunch.
So, mom throws together a peanut butter sandwich, a juice box and off to school. I got there in time for the kids to be dismissed to their lockers before classes started. I was hoping to sneak in and put it in his locker, honest...
I did get the "What are you doing here attitude" I'm sure I looked oh so lovely in my exercise clothes on the way to teach...
It could have been worse - I could have stood with him at the bus stop in my robe and slippers
A few blocks away - I realized he was turning away from his locker when I saw him - he was heading to class - no folder, paper, pencil or schedule...oh boy is he in for a rude awakinging on being organized and prepared for class... Can't wait to hear how his day went!
This was his one "freebie" - after this he's back to being responsible for his own lunch and I get to rack up slave labor time if I have to drive him back to school or drive something up he forgot... at a 30 minute round trip
I'm gonna have someone to clean and do laundry for me!!!
