My baby boy got onto the bus this a.m. for his first day at middle school. Now, let's see if he remembers what his bus number is for the ride home :rotfl2:

Mom got the "bad mom of the year" award. We forgot to pack a lunch. :guilty: and then he had the embarassment of mom showing up at school on the first day... :lmao:

Normally, he buys his lunch - but, the administration was recommending packing a lunch for the first few days otherwise, he'll run the risk of not having time to eat as they get the system up and running. The lunch accounts roll over year to year and follow the kids through the district, but I budget so they are close to running out at the end of the year - I'm not even sure he would have had enough to buy lunch.

So, mom throws together a peanut butter sandwich, a juice box and off to school. I got there in time for the kids to be dismissed to their lockers before classes started. I was hoping to sneak in and put it in his locker, honest...

I did get the "What are you doing here attitude" I'm sure I looked oh so lovely in my exercise clothes on the way to teach... It could have been worse - I could have stood with him at the bus stop in my robe and slippers :lmao:

A few blocks away - I realized he was turning away from his locker when I saw him - he was heading to class - no folder, paper, pencil or schedule...oh boy is he in for a rude awakinging on being organized and prepared for class... Can't wait to hear how his day went! ;)

This was his one "freebie" - after this he's back to being responsible for his own lunch and I get to rack up slave labor time if I have to drive him back to school or drive something up he forgot... at a 30 minute round trip :thumbsup2 I'm gonna have someone to clean and do laundry for me!!! :thumbsup2

Maggie's teacher is every science lover's dream. Last night at the meet the teacher open house- he had a crowd of kids around his desk studying animal skulls, bull frogs in jars, and rockets. This was supposed to be just a quick - find out who your teacher is and get out type night we were in the room for a good 1/2 hr- Maggie was enthralled along with the crowd of boys - she now thinks having a male teacher will be cool! (Of course, in her mind it also helps that he has the reputation of learning through experience and doesn't give much homework :lmao: )

No, now you become "The Finisher"!

Did you finish your homework yet? Did you finish that project yet? Did you finish.....:rotfl2:

And their names will be "Didya" Did ya finish your math. Did ya pack your lunch. Did ya remember your book? :lmao:

Now that my fingers are all warmed up from Dis'ing...Off to grab the checkbook and a pen and await Maggie's arrival to begin filling out the reams of forms and money requests that invarably arrive on the first day. She'll be home in about 5 minutes...

The poor dog has been so lonely this afternoon looking for the kids...

Virgil,
Do you realize that if Cappy's required 24 hours notification for delivery, I'd have already had to call and order the pizzas????

Elizabeth is absolutely HORRIFIED that her science teacher is a U of Florida Gator fan. :rotfl: She is excited, though that Lisa (as in Little Gymnast, not "LISA") is in her science class. A mini-DIS meet every day!

Bad Neighbours are tough because we all want to get along...but then there is a limit. Do you know anything about the family? By chance did they open their home to Katrina refugees? (Always good to know if there is "another side of the story!, before you become a headline - local Disser kicks out refugees....kinda ruins your morning")

You live in N. Virgina - Jim lives in Florida - the land use restrictions may vary greatly. Do you have a Home Owners Association? If so, checking the documents like Jim suggested is a good idea. You can also ask the Association to assit, with other neighbours. If the bad behaviour is not limited to your lot.

I am trying to remember whe we were last there if I saw signs about "deed restricted" communities. In such areas, the restrictions may be for "single" families only. Then you need to know the defitnition of a single family - sometimes relatives count....If not, then you are left with the local County regulations. Many counties post these on the internet so you could review before you meet with the staff.

I gotta give the contractors a thumbs up :thumbsup2 for taking action to prtoect the baby. Not theat he should have needed to but it shows he is responsible.

Do you know your other neighbors - any chance of getting them to back you up???then it is not one neighbor against another.......

Lets hope there will be some more comments on how to resolve this mess!

Better not take nail polish remover, or hair dye - peroxcide and acetone are on the list...
Unfortunely, we do not have a HOA and I am sure these people are not Katrina refugees.

I am on a corner lot and my driveway is on one side and then some land then their property line starts. These neighbors are smack dab in the middle of two corner lots so their property is smaller than ours and then insist on playing on my side since it's cleared of bushes and most of the trees. Too bad this is the side where my driveway is and I am not going to park somewhere else so they have a place to play. So they don't bother the other neighor because it's just their driveway and lots of bushes and trees. So other than the trash issue and the mom walking her baby in the middle of the street there's no one to bring up the issue. Our neighbors across the street are all retired, all 6 of them.

We even put the monster play set on the other side of our house so our kids will have more room to play without distrubing the neighbors. This is where all the other neighborhood kids come to play when our kids are out and we don't mind. This is also the side of our house that is in the cul de sac so they play hoops, tennis, kickball and football. We don't get a lot of traffic because the end of our street is a dead end well actually we have a creek that runs through to the other side of the street so no thru traffic.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments other than these neighbors we love our house and the neighborhood. Our kids walk three houses down to get to school (at our church). I can see them from our porch, it's great.

:tinker:Good morning cruisers :tinker:

Happy Friday!

We're off to Ohio later this morning. Getting excited about seeing the Ohiomouse family and also reliving all the wonderful memories of our great cruise. They are testing the DVD Mark made and if all goes well the rest will be made when we get home.

Good morning all!

Safe travels to Mark & Mary!

Good news about my co-worker's husband - no cancer! Thanks for all of the prayers & pd.

Emily went to meet her teacher yesterday afternoon. She seems very nice. She has 3 kids in her class that she knows - 2 kids from her K class last year & 1 from day care. The mom of one of the K kids said that her older daughter had this lady and that we'll love her. School starts on Mon. Emily is a little nervous that she'll forget the way to her new classroom. We went visit her K teacher. She asked Emily to come visit her in the mornings since she knows that Emily gets there early.
