Ok, all caught up. Not too bad for six days.
The trip was a success. The kids enjoyed the Disney choreographer's workshops. And the team did very well in the parade in spite of the heat. At least they did it at 6:30 at night. Only complaint was they went by soooo fast, didn't get many pictures.
Sunday morning was the onstage performance at California Adventure. We were in the first show, right after park opening, not boiling hot yet. A nice crowd was there, and they did great. Alicia really did bring her best performance, and had the crowd laughing. Most of the kids stuck around and did some touring that afternoon, and we all watched Fantasmic together Friday night.
Crowds were bad, heat was pretty bad mid-day, but it was lovely in the evenings. We spent quite a bit of time at DL on the 17th, realizing later that it was the 51st birthday and that's probably why it was so crowded! We watched the fireworks from the balcony of Innoventions, that was a great spot and a great show.
The last two nights we stayed at Grand Californian, upgraded to a pool view room. Loved it there, great resort. Alicia was in heaven when she spotted the Sephora store. Stacey, why didn't you warn me about that? Had a couple of good meals at Joe's Crab shack, and one at La Brea Cafe.
I liked California Adventure park. It was nice to see something new. The boardwalk area was well done, and it was great to see the Electric Parade. We liked California Screamin'. The shows were really good, Aladdin and the new Snow White show at DL. The latter had some leads with really beautiful voices. Found it very odd that TOT never had more than a 20 minute standby line, but took advantage of it.
We really enjoyed going back to DL after all these years. It will probably be a while before we get there again, though Alicia now wants to move to CA. We spent a few hours the last day at the Santa Monica beach and pier, and got stuck in traffic driving back to the airport. I guess it wouldn't be a visit to LA without that experience.
OK, back to normal chatting!
Cute puppy pictures, OM. Why did Mike pick Albuquerque as the place the family will go back and diet, hmmm?
Glad Matt is found and hasn't lost his appetite!
Stacey, sorry to hear about your dental woes, but at least you aren't roasting at baseball games any more. Alicia needs one of those guards too, seems pretty important! My Dad's SO gets dental work done across the border in Mexico, she says it's 1/3 the price.
