I'd go for your theory. But the wall this was in is an inside wall. WHY it is insulated, I have no idea. I can only guess it's b/c it's between the finished and unfinished sections of the basement and they wanted to keep the chill out. :confused3

Mice can get in through an area the size of a DIME! Amazing little buggers, eh? We had some pest company come out and place poison "sticks" around (the ones that aren't totally concealed are in special containers so the cat and kids can't get in)
karen,

good luck with your unexpected gift. hope all works out for you all.

if the cat wasn't so busy getting freaked out :scared1: by the shredder it could be catching what ever is leaving that mess. hehehehe :rotfl2:

I guess everybody is sleeping now. just my luck I'll be here talking to nobody or I could just go so sleep.

one more day till we hit Williamsburg, VA.

to do list:

get tricorn for Brian (colonal day in 4th grade, even though he's only going to be in 3)

find traditional colonal clothing for brian

It’s 11:30 PM and thought I would do a quick check in.

Matt and I just got back from a 5 mile hike. We are in the Alyeska Prince Hotel which is about1 hour south of Anchorage. We took the chair lift to the top of the ski mountain for dinner. We saw our first bear. Lisa played in the snow.

After dinner Sharon and Lisa went swimming with the family. Matt and I hiked with the bus dinner and our sister in law. There was a hand trolley over the river gorge part way down the trail. Great night for a small glass of 20 year old Port at the end of the trail.

Today the big event was a sea life boat ride. We did not see any whales, but lots of other animals.

Tauck Tours has done an excellent job and we will use them again. Last night we ended up with 4 lbs of King crab legs at our table. That was just for appetizers. I love signing for the check when I know it is included.

Tomorrow we do a train ride up to glaciers and then raft ride back. They are doing a canoe ride for the kids.

Good Morning All....Glad to see that the Scuba's are enjoying Alaska.

We finally had good news about Sam's sister yesterday - he fever has finaly broken and the Docter is becoming optimistic......let us pray that trend continues.

Work and travel across State Road 80 has kept me busy -- too busy to post.....Hope all is well......I have a few minutes so I will go check.

Take care..

I'm going to bed early for a change. Maybe I'll get more than four hours of sleep........

Are you dreaming of Castaway Cay???

We received our Shoreside Survival Envelope yesterday - white type for those of you who had not.....It was a Miceky jigsaw puzzle - kinda disappointed...

Wish we had had it this past Saturday for our Remember the Magic Party....oh well....

Read Mike's latest article.....My insensitive, pollitically incorrect suggestion is to limit the baby stollers to small children or those with a legitimate medical condition, or broken leg....Same insensitive comment goes to many adults as well.........(not all mind you).....This will have the added benefit of exercize and avoidance of injuries, to my shins when they run over me.....

I'd also eliminate the hot dog, burger, chicken tender kids meals (mac and cheese is ok). Why, at buffets like Boma (notice Mike did not include that one in his article) do children have to eat hot dogs when there is all this lovely unique food -- and how on earth does Mommy know that little Johnny won't eat it, if little Johnny has never tried it! Geez......Give me a grant and I will prove that children who eat a varied menu grow up to be heathier and not as heavy --- betcha it's true!!!!

Fruit, fruit is good.....why don't they put fruit on the kids menu - what is more refreshing than slices of melon on a hot day???? Mac and Cee and fruit, I could go for that...just don't take away the Smithwick's......

Sorry, been busy. Our basement used to be so cluttered you could only walk through a small path carved out in the middle of the junk. Now it is (almost) completely cleaned up and Mike's computer desk is down there, all of our exercise equipment is easily accessible.

Only problem is, we found THIS in the process. Any ideas?? (had to tear out the (?)press board wall to find it.)

Yucky - isn't this the mice evidence??????

Yeah, I know that.....but Katie the girl doesn't look like the puppy they got. There was only ONE girl in the litter. The website says it's the all black Katie. But I checked the plumbing on the black and white Bosco and.....well, let's just say if he WAS a boy, he had the Bobbitt procedure done on him. :lmao: I think the shelter messed up their submissions.

Won't someone be surprised when they adopt Katie and it's really a boy. Hopefully the dog won't be psychologically scarred for life. :lmao:

New name Katie = KT = KD.....KD sounds like a boys name...... :confused3

Caught up now - out of excuses...must get moving....

Mary - glad it will be cooler for you today --- realatively speaking....

Well, the cat was never allowed in the basement b/c of the piles of stuff he could knock over. But now he is!!!

I think that's one of the reasons why we love the cruise so much. There is so much fresh fruit at every meal and snack. And it's all cut up and prepared for you!! I love that!! You're right. There needs to be more fruit choices at WDW. The only ones I ever see are apples (which are usually the Red Delicious variety which no on in our family can stomach,) bananas and oranges. How creative. :(

Mike probably didn't include Boma in the article b/c we've never eaten there for dinner. That will change this December...We're trying it out!!!! :)

Unfortunately, it's bigger than mice. Could be chipmunk. We get a LOT of those around here (the outside cat usually has at least 3 a week for us in the summer)

Will research if they get into houses and walls.

She started at Katie. But her grandpa shortened it to KT in emails so he could only type two letters instead of 5. It's funny to hear ppl pronounce her name who ONLY have known her as KT. It's a very distinct "K" and "T." :)

I'd say Mike accomplished what he set out to do - start a discussion. A few weeks ago, lurking on the CB, there was a pretty heated thread over the stroller issue.

Speaking from DCL experience - it's been awhile since we've hit the parks - I like having the healthier options, especially at breakfast and lunch. Did I chose healtheir options at dinner - nope. "The regular" offerings were more appealing. I never made it to the right side of the menu. Did my kids steer away from the kids' menu, fries and chicken fingers, or mac and cheese? Nope - Although Mike did check the adult menu out occasionally. Since the kids were at their own table, I never really policed their choices. If I wasn't making healthy choices, I couldn't gripe at them.

All that aside...My biggest gripe with any restaurant, Disney or not, is the portions...They are so much larger than the ADA recommendations...Even cooking at home, we don't follow the "deck of cards" rule on the meat portions.

 Can't complain too loudly right now, my parents are visiting from Chicago (cooling off :lmao: ) Dad and I enjoyed very big, wonderfully sinful, chicken fried steak smothered homemade gravy with homemade mash potatoes. I bet each portion would have made 3 servings...
