Cool! A good knife can really help you out in many situations!!kikipug said:No gun... just a good sharp pocket knife. The guys at work (remember, I work with all men...and all rednecks, besides) always gave me a hard time because I was the only one in the place that didn't carry a knife. Every time I'd go to open a package or do something that required a sharp object (besides my mind, of course), they'd ask me where MY knife was. So, a few months ago, as a thank-you for a sponsorship that I did with a hunting organization, they sent me a really cool pocket knife... which ALL the guys wanted.... NOPE... this is MY knife... they sent it TO ME. So now it goes everywhere... except the airport.

Take a moment today to remember WWII veterans - today's the anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor...

scuba.mom said:Lisa needs a little Pixie Dust. Last night at the gym she was vaulting (and looking good according to her). She went to vault again on her turn and as she approached the springboard, a young (7 or 8) girl from the recreation program aimlessly walked on to the vault runway. Lisa had to decide in a moment whether to take the girl out or sacrifice herself to the vault. She chose to hurt her self. Her back was quite sore last night even after she had iced it and put icy hot on it both last and again this morning.
Her big concern is whether she will be able to vault up to her potential or not. To do her vault correctly, you have to run as fast as you can and put as much force on the springboard as possible in order to repel the vault and flip (in her case a pike or layout) to the proper height for landing nicely. If she holds back, the vault won't go. AND, if she can't vault, they might scratch her. NO PRESSURE with meet season a month away.
So, think happy thoughts for her and say a little prayer. I will let you know tomorrow how tonights practice goes. All the way home yesterday, she kept saying "I was having a great night. Why did that girl have to wander in front of me? " I asked her Coach what she should have done and he said "Taken the little girl out - OUCH"

Hope she's feeling better.
It's definitely all or nothing with vault... I distinctly remember regaining consciousness on a bench in the locker room at her age after a vault gone bad... but then again, I certainly wasn't at Lisa's level of competition!!!! (Though, I can hurt myself walking on a flat surface in flat shoes, too... Stacey doesn't have the market cornered on stupid ways to inflict personal injury!)

Besides... the snow-globe ones that may look cool in the rest of the country look STUPID in FL... after 5 minutes, they get all fogged up so you can't see in them, and the 'snow' sticks to the inflatable part... REAAAAAAALLLL pretty.
Sorry you're not having as much fun as you had with us!
