No gun... just a good sharp pocket knife. The guys at work (remember, I work with all men...and all rednecks, besides) always gave me a hard time because I was the only one in the place that didn't carry a knife. Every time I'd go to open a package or do something that required a sharp object (besides my mind, of course), they'd ask me where MY knife was. So, a few months ago, as a thank-you for a sponsorship that I did with a hunting organization, they sent me a really cool pocket knife... which ALL the guys wanted.... NOPE... this is MY knife... they sent it TO ME. So now it goes everywhere... except the airport.
Cool! A good knife can really help you out in many situations!!

Lisa needs a little Pixie Dust. Last night at the gym she was vaulting (and looking good according to her). She went to vault again on her turn and as she approached the springboard, a young (7 or 8) girl from the recreation program aimlessly walked on to the vault runway. Lisa had to decide in a moment whether to take the girl out or sacrifice herself to the vault. She chose to hurt her self. Her back was quite sore last night even after she had iced it and put icy hot on it both last and again this morning.

Her big concern is whether she will be able to vault up to her potential or not. To do her vault correctly, you have to run as fast as you can and put as much force on the springboard as possible in order to repel the vault and flip (in her case a pike or layout) to the proper height for landing nicely. If she holds back, the vault won't go. AND, if she can't vault, they might scratch her. NO PRESSURE with meet season a month away.

So, think happy thoughts for her and say a little prayer. I will let you know tomorrow how tonights practice goes. All the way home yesterday, she kept saying "I was having a great night. Why did that girl have to wander in front of me? " I asked her Coach what she should have done and he said "Taken the little girl out - OUCH"

So sorry to hear about Lisa's injury. Sending our family's prayers and pixiedust her way pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Keep us posted, Sharon.

Rule #1 of competitive sports.... self-preservation!!!!

Hope she's feeling better.

It's definitely all or nothing with vault... I distinctly remember regaining consciousness on a bench in the locker room at her age after a vault gone bad... but then again, I certainly wasn't at Lisa's level of competition!!!! (Though, I can hurt myself walking on a flat surface in flat shoes, too... Stacey doesn't have the market cornered on stupid ways to inflict personal injury!)

Sorry to hear about Lisa! I admire her dedication to the sport, but you only get one body and she needs to take care of it!! :cheer2:

Pixie dust and good wishes are in the mail........ Make that UPS!!

If Lisa had grown up with MY two brothers, she would have taken the girl out. I would have!

Feel better soon, Lisa!!

Pixie dust & prayers for Lisa. All I have to say is OUCH!!! Really, I hope she gets to feeling better soon but sounds like she's a tough cookie if she's ready to get out there again.

HAY Mr Goose...I just happened to (finally!) notice your post on CC....welcome:thumbsup2

Monica, are the kids going to make peppermint bark this year? Do they want my address?

Well Sharon, if Lisa had run over the other kid they both could have wound up with worse injuries. Hope Lisa heals fast. Alicia has been complaining about her back too, says she feels like she needs to pop it constantly. I think she just needs a break from dance, and she's about to get one.

It's almost vacation time. I'm ready! Looks like the weather is going to be nice. They're even predicting an 80 degree day while we're there.

Don't go believing Scuba... I DON'T pop inflatables.... I just don't care for them in my OWN yard. Besides... the snow-globe ones that may look cool in the rest of the country look STUPID in FL... after 5 minutes, they get all fogged up so you can't see in them, and the 'snow' sticks to the inflatable part... REAAAAAAALLLL pretty.

Sorry you're not having as much fun as you had with us!

Hey Kiki,

If you say so - I won't believe Scuba. The opposite happens to the snow-globes up here in NY. When it gets too cold, the "snow" freezes up and it doesn't move at all. They have a new one now it's a carousel inside. What will they think up next?

And NO!! We didn't have as good a time without you guys. We did make a few friends on board, but nothing like the people we met here. And our table mates - well it was this couple and she celebrated a birthday on the cruise - #20. I can almost remember my 20th. They were very nice. A pleasant surprise. Glad to be on land and trying to get our land-legs back. Yesterday was a little shakey on board.

Now it's time for me to go to sleep. Only got 5 hours of sleep last night. We ventured out to catch the "adult only" comedy act at midnight.

Nite nite.....

Looks like no launch tonight - "Best shot" but too many clouds....scrubbed for tonight. She really looked pretty on the pad.
