Emily was complaining of a sore throat this morning ... argh! Guess I'll be calling the ped. when they open at 8:30. If it gets worse, my sister has a friend that is a ped. P.A. that I guess we can take her to tomorrow if need be. Looks like I'll be packing more children's meds than I anticipated!

I hope she's doing OK... If it's any consolation, I'm packing more kids' meds than adult meds on this trip.

Let us know what the doc says. (You may have already, but I just haven't gotten that far down the page yet...)

Good Morning to All of my Favorite Cruising Friends!

It's me, Susan, and I am home, home, home! Yippeee!
Feeling OK, pain is controlled, walking around (don't want any dvt or pe's around here!), and not able to do any work...hey, post op isn't all that bad!!

Good to see you up and about!!!

I had my gallbladder taken out 4 weeks before a Disney trip once....and post op DOES have it's benefits. I could not carry ONE SINGLE suitcase or ONE SINGLE child that trip (granted, they were old enough to walk on their own but liked to be carried when they were tired---wouldn't we ALL?)

I figured when I saw the surgeon one day before the trip and he said "you can go back to normal activites" that what he REALLY meant was "you can go back to normal activites except hauling luggage and children!!!" At least any good, respectable surgeon would have MEANT that even if he didn't SAY it!

Wow, since my TOP was 'd away, I'm still going to do this:

Elizabeth just called... again... the tooth that she chipped a few months ago playing b-ball has chipped again... wonderful... she claims that 'its not a real big chip' (the first one wasn't either)... so I'm not rushing home to check it out... if it doesn't hurt, it can wait til after the cruise...

Karen - thanks for explaining that. I saw mentions to labor pains on the CB and couldn't figure it out. Guess because I've never been pregnant!

And just think of all the fun you missed. Morning sickness, stretch marks, hemmoroids, varicose veins, bladder control problems, back aches, Braxton-Hicks, Labor...DELIVERY....

And then there's that little-known law of nature. The extra 20 pounds of "baby weight" PER KID that you can never lose, no matter how hard you try.
That's my story, anyway, and I'm sticking to it.

Susan, it's good to hear from you. So glad to hear that you're home and doing well. Enjoy that post-op period! It's a shame that you won't be able to to go on the cruise, but it sounds like you have an excellent outlook on it all.

They just ask you at check in if you've had any flu like symptoms and/or vomitting/diarrhea in the 72 hours preceeding embarkation.

And people with colon/gastric/digestive problems have to LIE LIE LIE!

The paranoid mom kicked in and I decided to call the ped.'s office about Emily. She had a 99 deg. temp this a.m. I know that's really not a temp. and under "normal" circumstances, I would have blown it off. I wound up taking her in & they did a strep test. I came back neg. so we're good to go.

Paranoid nothing! I don't think there's a mom on this board who wouldn't do the same thing. It's a relief to hear that it's not strep! Now you get to focus on the issue at hand - VACATION!!!!

You forgot to mention that she is missing all of the sore throats, earaches, chipped teeth, etc. that the rest of us are dealing with now. I bet Bear doesn't give her this much trouble pre-cruise.

It's me, Susan, and I am home, home, home! Yippeee!
Feeling OK, pain is controlled, walking around (don't want any dvt or pe's around here!), and not able to do any work...hey, post op isn't all that bad!!

I wanted to step in and say that I/we will really miss not being able to meet all of you who have helped make the long awaited cruise bearable (we booked this in Feb 05).

I am really sad about it, but know that all things work together for good and that the Lord really has taken good care of me. It is so nice to have my Honey home for a good portion of my recovery.

The boys are taking this whole thing very well. I am so pleased. We are hoping to "surprise" them with some sort of trip later in the year.

Thank you all for your kind words, prayers, pd, and thoughts. You are a tremendous group.

Please know that I'll eagerly search the boards for someone's trip report. I hope someone will be writing one, so those of us who are left behind will have something to relish.

You all are truly the BEST!

Susan....it was really great that Adam let us know what was going on. You're raising a super nice boy! Lots of prayers and continued Pixie Dust for healing!! We'll miss meeting you and your great guys!
