I can't stand it - I wannna go now...

OK camera all fixed, yes, I stil use film...lenses cleaned and my "baby 800" is being left at home....(pout) but it is heavy.....And I will buy new batteries, just in case....

Film, Oh, must pack film.....later... :wave2:

Karen - thanks for explaining that. I saw mentions to labor pains on the CB and couldn't figure it out. Guess because I've never been pregnant! :)

Got most of the packing done last night. Bruce is not happy about the suitcase situation; but, oh well! He won't have to lug them, right??? I'm hoping that I can fit the rest of what I have spread out in to the bags that I have. I really don't want to take any more.

Emily was complaining of a sore throat this morning ... argh! Guess I'll be calling the ped. when they open at 8:30. If it gets worse, my sister has a friend that is a ped. P.A. that I guess we can take her to tomorrow if need be. Looks like I'll be packing more children's meds than I anticipated!

Mike had a bad sore throat for a few days. Then I got it. His went away and mine is on it's way out. He's seeing LOTS of viral throats out there. Very little strep. The bad news is that viruses need to run their course. :(

Hope she's feeling better soon!

I am so aggravated today. My YDS (Andrew) has had a runny (green) nose for over a week and complains that his ear is hurting, so like the good mom that I try to be, I take him to the pediatrician, who will admit that he has fluid on his ear BUT won't give us any medicine. I am well aware that the infections can be either viral or bacterial. (All 3 of my children have had more than one set of tubes! They have had more ear infections than I can count on all my fingers, toes, and hairs on my head! And we didn't treat all of the infections with drugs.) All I wanted was an antibiotic just in case Saturday or Sunday morning he decides to spike a fever and be miserable, I would be prepared. I guess that this is just foolish to the DRs. ARRGHHH.

Sorry for my ranting! I feel better now. :)

Andrew doesn't, so I'm taking him to his ENT tomorrow pm. :listen:

Not even an OTC decongestant. BTW, we will have Omnicef samples with us. Just in case of c/o sore throat, ear aches and such. Along with the cough/cold, fever meds. and decongestants. Dom has a tendency to get strep on the ship for some reason.

Are you packing rapid strep kits? Or the full incubator with culture plates?? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Just need to know where to go if this sore throat doesn't clear up!!!

So what are the rules about being sick? If they wind up with a fever, will they not let you on the ship? Or do you just have to keep them away from the other kids?

They just ask you at check in if you've had any flu like symptoms and/or vomitting/diarrhea in the 72 hours preceeding embarkation.

If they had to deny passage to every kid who had a sore throat or runny nose, the ship would sail 1/2 empty every time (or would that be 1/2 full?)

They do NOT take kids temperatures at check in....
My advice would be have children's motrin readily available in your day bag so when she gets to the port she "looks good" and not feverish (that is, assuming a fever will develop--neither Mike or I got any sort of fever with this virus)

Thanks. I think we're good. She has a stuffy nose & sore throat. I gave her a dose of Motrin Cold this morning. It's definitely not the flu.

A U.T.O.P. with OHMinnie & sick kids.

Here's some pixiedust: for all of us with sick kids. And even more pixiedust: for all of us traveling in the next 2 days.

Ok, must go....
lots to do today including getting my tomato plants into the ground. Better do that before the rain hits, eh?
Or I can leave it for my landscaper.....he said he'd do it if I didn't get around to it.
But he does everything else....thought I could at least make a slight effort. Maybe I should go get two in....and then leave the rest close to the garden???? Hmmmmmm.....

Oh my goodness....

I just remembered this and thought I'd tell you something funny I saw on AI last night...
Ok, maybe it wasn't THAT funny.....maybe I was just tired from all of the packing (we actually packed DURING AI too).....
At least the women who have had babies will understand this.....(and the doctors)

Toni Braxton was on the stage singing....(btw, could anyone understand a word she said?)....
and Taylor Hicks was on stage singing with her. They were just belting it out often times facing one another and singing to each other....

And I said "HEY, MIKE.....DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT IS ON TV????????"

And he said ":confused3 "

And I said "BRAXTON-HICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

before someone asks me to 'splain that.....pregnant women start getting Braxton-Hicks contractions mid way through their pregnancy. They are not real labor pains, just the body preparing for things to come. They don't hurt, you just feel your belly tighten. I think most every pregnant women gets these at some point.

Had to really laugh at that one... falling out laughing actually.!!!

Wonder if her sore throat will get better over the course of the day then.....stuffy noses cause morning sore throats b/c all night that drainage has to go somewhere....usually down the back of the throat. can also cause the yucky tummy thing too b/c all that drainage is just sitting there. Motrin cold will help that.....although if she doesn't have a fever, consider just a cold medication---no point in giving motrin if she doesn't need that *part* of the mixture. :)
(I learned that lesson the hard way.....I took Tylenol PM for a long time....until Mike asked me why I was taking the pain reliever TYLENOL when all I wanted was the sleep agent---uh....no idea. So then I just started taking the "PM" part without the Tylenol--which is just plain benadryl!)

No. My ohiomickey isn't usually much good with sore throats....
b/c he always tells me "it's just a virus....we do NOT take antibiotics for VIRUSES.....and we can't tell if it's strep without a culture!" Then he usually offers to culture me if I want, but I've BEEN cultured by him before and it's not something I'd willingly do again!!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: And, so far all of my sore throats have gone away on their own .....darn it....I HATE it when he's right!!!! :lmao:

No more sickness is allowed....by decree of Captain Miceky!!! So there....
Hope the little ones feel better soon.

Now for a question - Anyone out there who can suggest how many books I should bring...I think I have about 8 for our book exchange. We are driving so it does not matter as far as stuff....We already have packed the 8 elephants and they are getting impatient.....

Thanks...

Back to chores...wonder if the laundry is done, then I can go back to bed,,, :surfweb:

Glad his patients aren't DIS'ers (well... except your kids)... you'd scare them away!!!!

Elizabeth was complaining about the whole sore throat/stuffy nose thing last night... but then again, she's a hypochondriac for the most part... so I gave her Triaminic Nighttime, and sent her to bed... the kids are home alone today... in 30 minutes, she has already called me 3 times about how to do laundry... (its not like I haven't showed her 50 times... she does it just fine when I'm home...) One more reason why I'm NOT letting them stay home alone all summer!!!
