Hi, Jim! From what I remember from last year, there's a special dinner menu that night and then a big deck party later that night. Some people dressed up for dinner, but most (I think) waited until the party. Honestly I don't think most people even dress up.

Where are you in NJ? We're in Union County. Beautiful day today, isn't it?

Hi everyone!

Boy, do I got the story to tell you today!

As most of you know, work's been a mess for about the last... month, or two. We were using land that didn't belong to us, but using with permission of its owner. It sold, and the new person would like to buy us out too, but the offers have been land value only, i.e., worthless. We have a multimillion dollar operation, not your local stripmall cleaner. Since we told them no, they've been doing everything short of outright harassment to encourage us to move. Put up a construction fence right on the the edge of the property line, effectively boxing us in and forcing us to make some hurried changes, complain to the village to get inspectors to bother us, you get the picture. And I've put up with all of it very calmly and efficiently as possible to keep everything going smoothly thru all this.

Well, the boss comes in to the workshop this morning, as he regularly does to go over things so we're on the same page, and starts off asking about my impending vacation. And he asks how we paid for the cruise, did we use our points. He's into Disney almost as much as Mary and I are, knows all about our attachment to DVC. And I said no, the one in October is half on points, but this one was all cash, paid off in increments till the due date.

He says that's good, in consideration of how far I've improved things for the 3 odd years I've been there, and especially of how well I've managed the mess we've been in lately, he's giving me a raise, effective June 1st.

And we wants the receipts for the airfare and the cruise I'm about to go on.

Yes, he's picking up the tab for the May cruise for Mary and I.

I am still a little stunned even now, and don't think it's fully sunk in yet. He got me completely speechless on that one. I still don't know what to say even now, But I specifically went to work for him as I knew he was very supportive towards the people working for him as long as they worked well for him, but this was way beyond any expectation I could have had.

Wow, Mark, that's incredible! It's so nice to hear stories about people who are treated well at work (and this is probably the best one I've ever heard). Definitely sounds like you deserve it, and he certainly appreciates everything you've done for him.

The ACTUAL CRUISE. That's what's got me so stunned by it. They've gone out of their way in the past. The best example I can give is when one of long time workers, known by everyone, passed away suddenly, they shut down the operation and arranged it so everyone(all 100+ of us) could attend the full funeral. Including transportation, box lunches, the whole deal. But not something specific like this.

Thankfully I don't have a lazy husband either. He is a wonderful cook and puts up with helping to run "spoiled" children to all of their activies. Also, helping me fund our Disney additiction; especially cruises. I guess all of us DIS wives must have just chosen well.

I'm bringing a whole bunch of them. I have necklaces, glow sticks and bracelets. I do have extra if anybody needs them. Went to the dollar store and loaded up.

Need to put that on my list of things to do this week along with the 1000's of others I need to do

Thankfully I don't have a lazy husband either. He is a wonderful cook and puts up with helping to run "spoiled" children to all of their activies. Also, helping me fund our Disney additiction; especially cruises. I guess all of us DIS wives must have just chosen well.

I'm surprised I still got a good reivew after what happened today. First, Mark gets his cruised paid for (congratulations) which is not going to happen to me and then I forget to pack your lunch. Thought they might combine to give me the "Big Loser" award.

BTW - I made the beds in the pool house tonight. You have chicken chili for lunch tomorrow. I'll swing by the bank and the Mothership tonight. Need anything?
