Just got all of Ashley's stuff pulled out. Now off to tackle Emily's. Hers will be a little harder as she still needs clothes to wear this week.

My mom is recovering fine. She had major abdominal sugery. We hope that she will be able to come home tomorrow. Who's idea was it to send her flowers?
We recieved them today and she cried when we gave them to her. She thinks you all are really sweet. My brother and I will not be going on the cruise, in order to stay with mom and help her out. We hope you all have a magical vacation!!!!
Maybe we can get together another time.

You and your brother are great kids to give up your vacation to stay home and help your mom!! Hope to sail with you at a later date.

Just came back from taking Elizabeth to the orthodontist... she's REALLLY got the DISBoards Cruise Buzz BAAAAAD... she got lime-green elastics & connectors for her braces this month. (Her semi-formal night dress is lime-green as well... she'll be very coordinated!)

Hi everyone!

Boy, do I got the story to tell you today!

As most of you know, work's been a mess for about the last... month, or two. We were using land that didn't belong to us, but using with permission of its owner. It sold, and the new person would like to buy us out too, but the offers have been land value only, i.e., worthless. We have a multimillion dollar operation, not your local stripmall cleaner. Since we told them no, they've been doing everything short of outright harassment to encourage us to move. Put up a construction fence right on the the edge of the property line, effectively boxing us in and forcing us to make some hurried changes, complain to the village to get inspectors to bother us, you get the picture. And I've put up with all of it very calmly and efficiently as possible to keep everything going smoothly thru all this.

Well, the boss comes in to the workshop this morning, as he regularly does to go over things so we're on the same page, and starts off asking about my impending vacation. And he asks how we paid for the cruise, did we use our points. He's into Disney almost as much as Mary and I are, knows all about our attachment to DVC. And I said no, the one in October is half on points, but this one was all cash, paid off in increments till the due date.

He says that's good, in consideration of how far I've improved things for the 3 odd years I've been there, and especially of how well I've managed the mess we've been in lately, he's giving me a raise, effective June 1st.

And we wants the receipts for the airfare and the cruise I'm about to go on.

Yes, he's picking up the tab for the May cruise for Mary and I.

I am still a little stunned even now, and don't think it's fully sunk in yet. He got me completely speechless on that one. I still don't know what to say even now, But I specifically went to work for him as I knew he was very supportive towards the people working for him as long as they worked well for him, but this was way beyond any expectation I could have had.

The ACTUAL CRUISE. That's what's got me so stunned by it. They've gone out of their way in the past. The best example I can give is when one of long time workers, known by everyone, passed away suddenly, they shut down the operation and arranged it so everyone(all 100+ of us) could attend the full funeral. Including transportation, box lunches, the whole deal. But not something specific like this.

SO....FIFTY YEARS FROM NOW...when you pass away...are they going to fly all of US to your funeral? You better start working on that. And remember, I said FIFTY YEARS FROM NOW.

My kids have been fortunate enough to get hand-me-downs from my niece (my sister's daughter.) But, once she started private school, the amount of clothes passed down has decreased considerably. Hence, Ashley has a TON of clothes (niece's plus whatever I bought for Emily). Emily pretty much only has what I bought.

Hey...just because all the bars in my closet have collapsed.......and I have started to hang things in the guest house closet....and I hang things in the laundry room...and I hang things on a portable clothes hanger-thingy......
Doesn't mean I have too many clothes......it just means......what does it mean...oh crud, I can't come up with a good excuse.......
