4th FP+ with tiers

Were you able to get the 4th FP for Soarin and if so, what time was your FP?

Yes, I was able to get Soarin for later in the day. I went to the kiosk at 12:30 and they said it wasn't available so I chose Maelstrom (another Tier 1 attraction) and then I said I would change it on my phone. I had several CM's tell me that you couldn't do that but I assured them that I could and had been for the last 6 days of our trip. Then I left and proceeded to change a couple of members of my party of 5 at a time to Soarin, only a few minutes after leaving the kiosk. We ended up with a 7:00 time slot, but since we were leaving the park and coming back for Illuminations it worked out just fine for us.

Throughout our trip all of the CM's were very kind to us at the kiosks but some were definitely more willing to help me get what I wanted by playing with the system. For example one CM said she wouldn't split up our party of 5 in order to help us get onto certain attractions easier while others just naturally tried it w/o me asking. And since people are constantly changing their times, the availability of rides would change as well. Often times just changing 1 member of your party at a time to an attraction would work better than trying to change everyone at once. For example if I tried to move 5 of us to an attraction it would say no availability but if I moved 1 or 2 at time it would allow me too. That might not work for some families and you might run the risk of someone not getting to ride but it almost always worked for ours. The only time it didn't was when we tried and tried to get on RRC at HS one night and nothing ever showed up for more than 1 of us. But my hubby and 2 boys just waited in line and it ended up not being to bad.

Wow, that's a pretty big detail that Disney left out!

Yes, I just kind of discovered it on my own the hard way! By the end of our trip I was sharing things we had learned with the CM's at the kiosks :)

I'm sure as more people become knowledgeable about the system that experiences will change. We just happened to be going the 2nd week into the implementation of the 4th FP and more so we really felt like guinea pigs but it turned out to really benefit our family. I've learned so much from the posts on the forum that I wanted to share our experience in the hopes that others might benefit as well.

Thanks for sharing! I had no clue a tier 2 could only be changed to a tier 2.

I don't think that's doable through the app, only at a kiosk and only within the specific park in question. You can switch between attractions within a park on the app, but I don't think attractions outside of that park are available when switching up.

Where exactly are these kiosks, and how many does each park have? Any info will be greatly appreciated. Thnx.
