40% off select nights/resorts in 2007

If I was treated like that by Disney reps (and they do represent Disney no matter if they're outsourced or not), I'm not sure I could be returning anytime soon. I love Disney, but there are many other wonderful places to vacation with your family.

I was able to book the 40% off without a PIN and was assured it was a general code, but if they do call me to cancel the deal they made with me - no sweat. I will wait for another deal or plan a trip to the White Mountains, Yellowstone, the Outer Banks, Universal, or some other great place. I do not expect them to treat me bad or like I'm trying to get away with something.

Well, when I called I DID NOT MENTION any codes... I never repeated the XYZ (ficticious, lol) code that was going around here. I simply asked if there were any discounts I was eligible for. The nice CM (guy the first time) looked around & came back with something--he never said what it was & I didn't ask. The 2nd CM just changed my ressie from POP to AKL---still keeping whatever discount I had.

I didn't call & ask about "it on internet boards, and had at least a reasonable suspicion that it's not for everyone." I just asked for whatever I was eligible for...

That sounds like a great way to do it.

We are going the week AFTER Thanksgiving. Has anyone gotten a deal on that week?

Yes they did. Some posts pointed out that it was an obvious glitch, others pointed out that YOAMD might have something to do with it. They highlighted the ones that mentioned Glitch.

That is why I think, if this 40% off thingy is just for postcard recipients, they can argue that everyone who booked it found out about it on internet boards, and had at least a reasonable suspicion that it's not for everyone.

That said, I wish I was able to book it just in case it IS legit!! Even with the $125 special rate, 2 rooms at the Swan, plus parking charge, for 7 nights is quite a stretch for me.

Beth

Beth,

From speaking with a couple reservation CM's, the 40% off rate is only suppose to be for those who have a PIN code associated with there name. I asked what would happen if someone was able to book this and during check in the code didn't pan out. I was told that they would have to pay the rack rate.

Just a thought but if it isn't a valid offer don't you think Disney would have put a stop to it by now?......I do.....I mean this IS the thrid day.

If it was a PIN you wouldn't beable to book it with just the 3 letter code anyway, you would need to have the 3 numbers as well.

I feel it's but only for certain weeks.

Now that statement is just going to panic people!:scared1:

And I doubt that it is true.

Besides you need to pay for your package 45 days BEFORE you arrive.

Oh man. I called to book for Dec. and asked very nicely if there was a 40% promotion available for the dates I requested. The answer, no. The fellow hadn't heard of it at all. He said all he had available were discounts for Mar. & Apr.. And he said they usually have discounts just 3 months out. Ugh.

Might try again later. I was hoping for that, "Year of Magical Dreams" thing and I'd be told, "You've been selected for a free vacation!" :wizard: Have to laugh at myself!

Two different CM's told me the same thing. They said the person who booked it would be getting a call and have to pay the regular rate.

Everytime my cell phone rings, that is what I think too!:lmao:

Is that march-April deal jsut for you? I called ofr deals in March and there were none. I've called 3 times!

I could see that IF it was a PIN only discount. But Disney having their hand out at check in.....NO.

I'm not waiting for the phone to ring.

When you book a PIN offer you need *** *** not just a three letter code, that is a promotion.

If your doing it as a room only code then all you have to pay is the one night deposit within 14 days of making the reservation and the rest is do apon check in. What I mentioned only applies to room only reservations.

Yep. I would hate to be someone who checks in and is told that they have to pay an addition $1500 because they code they had applied wasn't good.

Now that is a completely different story. Since the PIN has to be associated with that person, I can't see how someone not on there could even use that.

I've never had a problem adding a code to my reservation. I have one applied to it now. I tried several times to book this code and was told every time that it was a pin code and required a pin to add it to my reservation. The CM's told me it was household specific and that once it was discovered that it was booked to a different household, the person who booked it would be getting a call and have to pay the full price. I truly hope that isn't the case because it's an awesome deal.

The thing that gets me and I'm sure everyone else, is the fact that some are being told it's a general public code and some are being told it's a pin only code. Another worry is, booking this code and then having it taken away a week or so later. In my case we saved $428 with the free water parks/park hopper code. I would hate to cancel that thinking I saved 40% on my room rate only to have it taken away and then not be able to rebook with the free park hopper/water park code because it's limited availability.

First of all, I really hope they honor all reservations booked without a pin code. It's really too bad that the CMs aren't all on the same page. It's not right that some are allowed to book without a pin and others aren't.

I'd rather have people worried instead of being surprised by owing more money at check-in. And don't think that it isn't possible.

Even if you pay in full for a package or make a room deposit, that doesn't mean that Disney will honor it if you book a glitch or something that wasn't meant for you (like a pin code rate). They DO monitor these boards and will cancel reservations if they want to. And now based on what happened with the BW "special deal" we now know that if they think this is that big of a deal, they will track down DIS posts and send copies to prove you knew it was a glitch or should have had a pin.

Those of us "unsavory" people who booked the BW garden suites glitch know better now.

As much as I love Disney and even though I am a shareholder, the way we were treated by corporate still makes me sick. But not sick enough not to return to my favorite place. :wizard:

I just wanted to share with you guys I had a little pixie dust come my way today.

I booked the WL CL for my Bday September trip so I came on here today to see if there was any talk about free dining, knowing it would be early but just wanted to check. I saw this thread and decided to read it, but grunting and groaning that disney never sends me anything and no matter how many times I fix my phone number and email address for them whenever I call back they verify the old one. Then when someone posted something about it having a wheel on it something clicked off in my brain, a friend of mine called me last weekend and wanted to know when I moved into her house. I didn't know what she was talking about but she told me that I got something from Disney with a wheel on it she thought it was a dvd, it came to my name with her address.. So today I realized that's exactly what you guys were talking about so I called her to see if she still had it and she did so she gave me the code and I saved almost $2,000!!! :woohoo: I guess I just got lucky but my point is to never give up hope because you never know when a little bit of pixie dust might come your way!!!

-----------

"unsavory" I resemble that remark:lmao: I, too, am a stockholder & loyal Disney-phile...

based upon my recollection of the BW snafu...my story (and I'm sticking to it:rolleyes1 ) is that I thought the rate was part of the YOMD celebration;)

sounds a heck of a lot better than i tried to jump in on what was a deal I knew was too good to be true.

-----------

To those that booked the rate, I mis-spoke as to the paperwork I received from WDTC (pulled out the file). The first written conf. i received via snailmail represented the same info as on my web ressie, viewed on WDW site.

After I dodged the phone calls from Yolanda & merrily went off on my Disney vacation, I came home and found the dreaded 2nd letter.

They set it up that even though I paid in full @ time of booking, that X amount of $ was due by 45 days prior, or the res. is cancelled and deposit is forfeited.:sad2: ...sorta a no way out situation.

Please post as to whether your ressies are honored.

When I called, I never mentioned the code that was being tossed around here. I just politely asked if there were any discounts I was eligible for. The nice CM did some looking & found something that took about 40% off. I never asked him for the specific code. Moral... just call & ask!! You might just get lucky!

This is what I did more or less, I did this yesterday morning and have since called and changed my ressie 3 times (long story Just call me Mr. Indesicive) and they kept the code all three times no questions asked.
i just asked if there was any discounts available, they said you had to have a pin, I said nothing for the general public, the CM put me on hold for about 5 minutes and came back and said yes you can have it. He did not mention the letters of the code and I did not ask.

Old school Disney was they (cr) were never allowed to tell you about a discount that could be applied if you called to inquire about rates but if you asked them for their "Best available rate" and then you would get their cheapest rate.

Just my 2 cents
