I have a coupon with a 40% off code. I'm also waiting free dining. I need to book with the code by the 29th. Should I go ahead and book it and then make changes if we get free dining? Also I don't understand that chart telling me which is better. With my code I get 45. for Allstars and 89. for POFQ. There will be two of us so we will be paying around 80. extra to add dining if it's not free I guess. With the code we would do a mod, without it we probably would do a value.

Free dining probably will not be eligible for bookings until 4/10.Since your 40% expires I would book it and cancel and rebook under free dining when it is available.I think you already know you can't have both free dining and the 40%.That being said.Free dining is usually the most bang for the buck when you stay at the values( also depends how many are in your group) If you stay deluxe or at villas the 40% is the better deal. The moderates are a toss up.:goodvibes

What PP said...book the 40 %, if Free Dining comes up, you can always cancel or convert the ressie..."A Bird in a Hand" and all.

I would book the 40%...If and when free dining is offered and if it applies to your dates then you could always either adjust the reservation or if need be
cancel and re-book.

Good luck with the 40%!!! THAT IS A GREAT DISCOUNT! ENJOY!:cheer2:

I am so excited. I haven't been to disney for six years. The whole time my kids were in highschool I'd make reservations and change them and then cancel them. They were in sports and band and drama,etc.. Could never take a week off when everybody could go. I'm taking this trip with my oldest dd who just graduated from college. It will be alot of fun and free dining just makes it so much better. To get the most value for free dining we'll probably stay at a value. No couple things so we don't need a romantic place.

In the past, free dining has been offered via a discount code, which cannot be combined with any other discount code. Therefore you wouldn't be able to combine 40% off and free dining. If you don't do sit down meals for every meal, two can easily eat for under $60/day. With the 40% off code, you save $35-$90 per day. Therefore, if you book the moderate you'd want to go for the 40% off, but if you book a value and the dining shows up, you'd probably want to cancel your reservations a re-reserve with the free dining code.

In either case, book now. If you get a room-only reservation you can cancel for a full refund any time up to a week before you arrive (and you can also buy your tickets at a discount from an online retailer). If you get a package, you can still cancel up to 45 days in advance.

Yes I know I can't combine both discounts. I have a choice in my mind between a mod with the discount or a value with free dining. They both come out to around the same cost. Since this trip is me and college dd I think I'd rather do the value with free dining. We're not going to care so much about the ambiance. Is it a better deal to buy my tix from a discount retailer then to do length of stay or five day hoppers? Can I get free dining without buying any tickets?

I don't believe you can book free dining without buying tix. As the PP said, you must book at least one day of tix. Since this is the case, the most economical way is to buy the park hoppers that expire, with the number of days you desire, when you book the MYW+dining package (whether it be free or the 40% off).

If your 40% off code is good for room only reservations, buying your tickets from a discount retailer is a better deal. I saved $40 on two 7-day WPM&M tickets by buying them from OrlandoAttractions. The only downside is that they can't put your tickets on your room key (so you need to carry both). Disney doesn't do length-of-stay tickets any more, and when you add tickets to a package you pay the full gate price.

If you want to try for dining, I would highly suggest booking the Moderate with the 40% off anyway before your coupon expires. If dining is released, you can always cancel. There is no guarentee that free dining will be available when you want to go, or that it will even be offered at all.

I am a newbie and am planning a trip next Sept. Sounds like there might be a possibility of free dining, but I don't understand the "book it, then cancel and rebook" concept. Do I book my trip, hope dining is announced and then I have to cancel the first booking to get the free dining. Please help me, I'm feeling a little dimwitted

It depends.Everyone here on these boards has a differing opinion on this. Some people make their ressies ahead of time hoping that if/when free dining is announced they can just have disney cm "apply" discount code. The reality of this process is that alot of times there are not infinite rooms available for the promo. Each resort bases its allotment of discounted rooms on a projected occupancy level at a given time period per resort. Not all resorts have the same amt of rooms avail. Some people have successfully just " applied" the disc. and others were told they had to choose a different resort or different travel dates altogether. So the argument is that if alot of people book ahead of time , Can this cause a resort to show max.occupancy and then offer no discount avail? no one knows for sure. But since you are not going till next year you have awhile to decide what is right for you.If you are going no to go no matter what, then by all means book. But if it is free dining you want, wait it out. There is no guarantee it will happen next year, when this year isn't even official yet.:goodvibes

The OP had a 40%off PIN code. But reservations had to be made by March 29. The free dining dates haven't come out yet-- everything I've read has implied that they won't be released until April 10, well past his March 29 deadline.

So the advice is to book now, and get that 40% off discount. Should free dining be available for his dates and resort, and turn out to be a better deal, he can cancel the first reservation and take free dining. But if somehow that doesn't happen, he still has a wonderful bargain at 40% off.

we did this last yr w/the 40% discount. we booked pop for $49 a night and then applied the free dining when it came out. that 40% doesn't come by often-book it!!! as a matter of fact, i booked 3 of my trips last yr with the 40% discount. it was awesome!

We went to Disney last November and had a flyer in our room offering the 40% discount, but it said we had to book before we left the resort. How do I find out if we have a 40% code associated with my name? Do I just call and say "Hey is there a discount associated with my name"? :confused3

Call and tell them you are interested in possibly booking a vacation and ask if there are any discounts available to you .Be prepared to possibly have the cm get rude .Most are cool about asking and looking up for you.Others can get mean, nasty and flat out tell you they can't look codes up for people anymore. If you get one of the less then helpful or kind cms.hang up and call again.:goodvibes

What if I already booked a vacation for Sept, can I still call and see if I have a code then have them apply it?

Thanks for the help.

I'm sorry, I just have to ask, how in the world did you get 40% discount offered 3 times last year?? I'd like to have some of your pixie dust, lol! :)

I believe you can.

When did you book? I called about 2 weeks ago and booke the POP and they offered my Corando Springs for $60.00 more for our entire trip. I turned it down because I am hoping for Free Dining.

I would just call and see if there is a code attached to your name. Also, if they do end up coming out with a Promo for the time that you are going, you can call and they can apply it to your existing ressie.
