4 Hot Mamas take on the World 9/2011! *UPDATE 8/31* I'm leaving TODAY!!!

I agree with everyone in that I would try and get an ADR for somewhere around the Epcot area.

Can you reschedule WCC for another day? Am sure it would be a fun place to eat :thumbsup2

As much as I love WCC and WL, I'd say try to find somewhere in Epcot to eat! I'm sure there are still ADR's available at most places! Just leaving Epcot to go to WL sounds like kind of a hassle!

Have you thought of trying one of the Epcot resorts to eat at instead, if you need a break from Epcot for a little while? There are so many places to choose from, between BC, YC and the Boardwalk! :) And they are within walking distance!

Thanks for all the input/advice! I agree with the consensus, that we would be better off with a TS inside Epcot. Thankfully, Mom, Helen, and Heather agree!

We could reschedule WCC for the day we tour MK, as it would just mean taking the water taxi over to WL (and that would be (somewhat) quick and easy to do). But we reeaaallly want to do breakfast at the Crystal Palace, and we don't want to take the time to have 2 sit-down meals when we'll just have one day at MK.

I was a bit nervous when looking at what ADRs might still be available at Epcot... but was surprised to find quite a few!

So, instead of lunch at WCC on Monday, we'll be eating at...

Les Chefs de France!

If anyone has eaten lunch here, I'd love to hear what you have to say about the place/food/etc., because Chefs is someplace I've never been. I've looked at the menu and it looks yummy (the baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese? Come to mama!) Although, I'm also a bit apprehensive since I can't tell the others anything about it. It'll be the blind leading the blind, I guess! But I do feel better with the decision to stay inside the park.

So who's been to Les Chefs de France? What do you have to say about it?

We've been - but for dinner. And we've been because my children's all time favorite food is escargot. Can you imagine at the first open house of the school year and you are reading the "all about me" pages posted in the hallway - and seeing all the favorite things for the kids in the class. And you get to favorite foods - and there are things like chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, bacon, spaghetti - and then there is my child who has listed escargot!:rotfl:

Anyway...the dinner was delish. Katie had some sort of cheesy pata thing. I cannot recall what Madalyn or Michael had. I had the braised beef - it was amazing. And of course, we had escargot. The girls actually used their spending money to get their own appetizer so they wouldn't have to share!

We ate at Chefs de France last year (dinner, not lunch, though). I did a mini TR food review here (scroll down until you see Chefs de France):

But there's also a pic and comment about it here (scroll down as well):

DD celebrated her birthday here and they sang to her in French. She ordered a sorbet or something (but she didn't like it), and they brought her an ice cream instead - which she couldn't eat. I think she ended up with a cookie or something. :confused3

Even though it was PACKED and I felt like it was all communal tables :lmao: the atmosphere was really great and the service was AMAZING!

We honestly considered returning this year, but our "we want to have new experiences" kept us from adding in an ADR for it. We will be dining at Teppan Edo and Biergarten instead. However, it was very much tempting to go back to Chefs de France over Teppan Edo. Even DH was torn between new or France. ;)

I can't wait to hear how much you guys love it! :thumbsup2

Kat and Lidian, you have GREATLY eased my mind. Thank you!

I'm feeling much better about the decision to go to Chefs for lunch. It was between Chefs, San Angel, and Tutto Italia... none of which I've been to. The menu for Chefs is what won me (and Mom) over. It all sounds so yummy!

I've never been to Chef's, but I really want to try it today, I think you made a great choice! :thumbsup2

I have never been to Chefs either, but it was one of the places I looked at booking. However, like most of the places I was thinking of, Dh and his fussy eating habits took it off the list of posibilities. I'm sure you'll enjoy it, and your day at Epcot, without losing so much time now to head off to eat :)

So glad you chose to stay at Epcot to eat! We ate at Chefs for dinner 2 years ago and we loved:love: it! We did the pre-fix menu and were extremely happy with it! I would definitely go back again!:goodvibes

Hi! Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party, but I'M TOTALLY IN!! :woohoo: Sounds like soooo much fun!!

Yay, another person who loves Chefs! Whew, I really do feel so much better about making the decision to go there. And the Prix Fixe 3-course lunch is exactly what I have my eye on... mmmmmmmm!

:welcome:, emma! Better late than never, right? ;) Glad to have you along!

As I mentioned before, my two friends, Angie and Kat, are going to WDW at the end of August.

But to really start this story, I have to go to the beginning... and that means going waaaay back to last year. Angie (my BFF), was tentatively planning a return trip to WDW for her family. Unfortunately, those plans fell through and Angie disheartened to not get another visit to The Happiest Place on Earth last year.

Fast-forward to a few months ago, when Mom and I get invited to join Helen and Heather on their trip. Around the same time, Kat is getting ideas for her own family's trip this summer (which you can read about on Kat's PTR, Epic Mickey - or "Our Year of Disney" - a 2-for-1 Summer PTR) Somehow Kat decided to turn her tickets into Annual Passes. Which means she's hoping for several trips to WDW for the next year... and (at least) one of those trips would be a "girls only" trip! Knowing Angie and I are Disney-fanatics, she asked us both... it was decided this "girls only" trip would be late August so not to conflict with Kat's teaching schedule and also to take advantage of FREE DINING! Since she missed going to WDW last year, Angie was on board from the start! Kat didn't have to ask her twice, LOL! But since I'd already planned on going with Mom, Heather, and Helen, I thought it best I not join Kat and Angie on their trip.

I'll be honest, this totally bummed me out! So upsetting to know my friends would be at WDW the week before me :sad1:

Angie and Kat tried their hardest to convince me to join them on their trip... I would have LOVED to go, but there's no way I could do back-to-back trips and be away from home for over 2 weeks (I think my DH would have a stroke!)

But then, about a week ago... something inside my brain just clicked: "What if I were to join Angie and Kat for the last few days of their trip?"

To be continued...

(If there is one thing you need to know about me, it's that I cannot tell a short story! I split this stpry into two parts to keep from being being a super-long post!)

On a whim, I started looking at flights to see how much this wild idea might cost me. I found one on Thursday (9/1) morning for around $110... and I immediately called Angie. I briefly told her of my idea, and then called Kat to talk it over with her. While on the phone with Kat, she suggested I look at flights for Wednesday evening... lo and behold, I found a flight on Wednesday for just $89! Kat had to call Disney to see what the best way to add me to their package would be, how much it would cost, etc. After figuring the numbers, it would cost not much more than what I'd be paying for 4-day park tickets for my already-planned trip! And I'd get FREE DINING!

Now, the only roadblock was to convince my DH that I needed to extend my WDW vacation by a few days...

He wasn't thrilled with the idea at first, but he came around! :thumbsup2

So now I will be flying to Orlando on Wednesday evening in order to spend 3 days at The Happiest Place on Earth with 2 great friends!
:woohoo:

The logistics haven't been worked out yet, but I'll somehow meet up with Mom, Heather, and Helen when they arrive Sunday afternoon/evening.

Now, someone just needs to get working on that machine to make the days go by faster! I can't wait for August 31st!

I am just so glad we figured out a way for you to come with us! Now you just need to drink the kool-aid and get an AP :thumbsup2 so that you too can become a co-conspirator!

:woohoo: on finding a cheaper flight for Wednesday! Also how good does it feel to know that you will not be spending lots to extend your stay?!

Let me know if you figure out how to make the time go faster - def need to get my hands on that machine!! :rotfl:

Hi! I followed you from my PTR. How exciting to have a girls only trip, and no kids! I agree, how wonderful to be able to explore all of World Showcase at your leisure. I haven't even been into all the shops on Main Street. I hope to visit WDW someday where it's only DH and I, maybe for a long weekend. I sure would feel guilty though!

Love the pictures!

That is so wonderful that you were able to work it out so that you could take part in the trip with your friends as well as keeping your original trip!:cool1: Especially getting a cheaper flight and getting the free dining! Can't go wrong with that:thumbsup2
I tend to be long winded myself, and never thought to break up the long posts into two, I might have to do that in the future!
I know what you mean about wanting the time to go by quickly, but the planning and anticipation are so much fun as well, you don't want it to go by too fast or next thing you know you'll be home and both trips will be all done:sad1::laughing:

:welcome:, cadek! Thanks for joining in!

That is so awesome!!!! I too am willing Aug 26 to come fast, but then I'm wishing away the summer and feel guilty. It will be here before we know it!!!
