4 day Wonder -New Years Eve 2007

Now that the dust has settled a bit from back to school, how is everyone doing? Any new plans or new cruisers???

The dust may have settled but I am swamped with helping with papers, and homework and projects!!

One thing it has done is keep my addiction to these boards down.

Can't say I'm not surprised. The the Christmas holidays falling late, I image most schools will be out the first week of January. DS does not have to go back until January 8. Just 87 more days to go.

Wow, the countdown is really comming on fast now. Not fast enought for DW and DD. Whenever I want to get DD bouncing off the walls:bounce: we'll start taking about it or I'll put on the DCL DVD or log onto DIS. Some may consider this "cruel and unusual" but as a father it is one of the few paybacks I get (I do the same for birthdays and Christmas):rolleyes1

Hope all are doing well.

Disney Wonder Itinerary Change

In recognition of the Christmas and New Year's holidays and to ensure that our Guests have the most enjoyable cruise vacation, the itinerary for the Dec. 23-30, 2007 sailings onboard the Disney Wonder® has been altered.

Below, please find the itinerary for these sailings:

Sunday: Port Canaveral
Monday: Nassau
Tuesday: At Sea
Wednesday: Castaway Cay
Thursday: Port Canaveral

I imagine a lot of people who stay up to see in the New Year on Monday night will appriciate the chance to sleep in a little on Tuesday and not missing out on some of the time at CC.

I noticed that too when I made my reservations and filled out my online forms. Getting soooooo anxious! :yay:

I made our final payment today. We are scheduled for 6pm dinner seating. Info I received was "formal" night on 12/31, pirate night and Castaway Cay on Jan 1 and at sea day Jan 2. If you are planning to head back to WDW after the cruise and are using Disney transfers, it costs an extra dollar per person to head to the resort instead of the airport. T-minus 77 days and counting- Woo Hoo!!!

So, now what? 2 Months, 9 days...What are you alldoing these next few weeks to prepare for our upcoming cruise?

Are you calm, cool and collected with lists, outfits planned etc.

Are you an overanxious planner, still reading your passporter backwards and fowards, looking for the most recent navigator....

I'd love to hear what everyone is currently doing in anticpation.

I am more of the latter, stressing out my sister (kt27) with phone calls from work to her at home to make more ADR reservations prior to our cruise, sleigh reservation modifications and still trying to get skinny in anticipation of the sexy black dress I have yet to find!

So do tell!

In no particuliar order: working overtime to pay for trip/extras, completed door decorations, had to buy a dressy dress for function at work so NYE is covered for me, pirate outfits for me and DS (DH is dragging his feet), started a corner in bedroom to stack stuff for trip, and confirmed everything when I made last payment. I still need to coordinate DME directly since I booked airfare. I want to get coordinating polos for embarkation photo. Still need to pin DS and DH down for what they want to wear for NYE. Packing list is ready from previous trips, and I will start taking few dollars from each paycheck for tip envelopes. And oh yay, better starting christmas shopping.

Not to change the topic too much, but I’ve got a couple of rookie questions.

First, what’s the deal with door magnets? Do most folks do them and are they just to be fun and decorative or is there a more utilitarian purpose to them?

Second, Pirate Night, do the majority of adults wear some type of costume, other that the bandana? If they do, typically how elaborate are they?

In so far as our “pre-trip prep status”, I’m the kind of planner who has lists for my lists and heaven help me if I lose one! Right now we’re slowly updating our wardrobe, which needed updating anyhow, and working on a few more logistical matters, mostly watching for a code for our WL stay after the cruise.

More or less a fun & decorative thing to do. Our last cruise 12/2/06 we did a magnet swap where everyone put a magnet from their state on each of the particpating doors. I still have them all on my fridge at home. It was fun to come back to the stateroom and have a new magnet.

I saw some beautifully decorated doors too! It made finding your door easier after a few fruity drinks!

I saw alot more adults dressed as pirates on our 7 day cruise then I did on our 4 night. We may add some pirate flair but won't be all "decked out"

We are staying at The Villas at Wilderness Lodge before our cruise. We arrive 12/23! I can't wait to see it all decorated for Christmas!

From what I understand, having your door decorated can help you find your cabin easier. It is just something to add a little twist to the festivities. DS has a skeleton pirate tshirt and an eye patch. I am bringing an apron (Cpt Cook's grill, grub, and grog) and chef hat proclaiming "Dead Men Criticize No Meals". DH will probably have a tshirt and bandana with eye patch. I wonder if the decorations will still be up after the cruise? We are heading back for one night stay.

We have made a family decision to cruise this New Year's Eve as a family instead of buying Christmas gifts. There will be 15 of us. We are soooo excited. Do y'all have plans for meets, gifts, etc. I can't find if the group has adopted a group name. Let me know.

Here is the last roll call:

Fantasia (31), DS (30) and Baby(11 months)
Grumpy4Ya (43), DW (43), and DD (7)
CarmelTink and DS (8)
JKrohn2703, DH and DD (11), DS (8), and DD (4)
Ansky922, DH and DS (8)
Beth A, DH, DS (18) and DS (11)
Dizz42 and DH celebrating 20th wedding anniversary
fhtpdw20 (47), DH (48) and DS (15) also celebrating 20th wedding anniver.
ltlmaint (35), DH(38), DS(12), DS(10) and my sister, KT27(28), her DH(35) and DD(10).
Amylovesdisney (45), DH (46), DS (12), DD (10)
LVaugh (41), DW (39), DS (11) and DD (8).

We have not adopted a name. So far there are no official meets that I am aware of yet, but I am game. Anyone else??? Are there any teens in your group?

Katie & fhtpdw20,

Thanks very much for the info! It really helped to clear a few thing up for me.

Tammy,

Howdy and welcome aboard,

15 of you, Wow, nothing like traveling with your own entourage. As far as meets or anything of that nature, nothing yet. I think some folks are waiting for the date to get closer and the dust from back-to-school to settle (I know around our place this can kick-up a LOT of dust). In so far as names go, I didn't know they did such things. The only idea that rolls off the top of my head is the "Make Mine a Double" gang :dance3:

Take Care.

We're definitely game for meeting the group. We're at the second dinner seating if anyone wants to plan on dining together. We will be doing a door sign, but we haven't designed it yet. We have a lot of the Mickey paint chips with magnets on the back, so I know we'll have those on the door. I don't know why, but "National Lampoon's Carribean Vacation" jumped into my mind when I read the question about naming the group.

Timswoman (41), DH (41), DD (11), DD (9)
DSis (40ish), DBIL (40ish), DNiece(23), DNephew(21) Friend (20ish)
DDad (60ish), DMom (60ish), DBro(39), FFriend (30ish), DNiece(13), DNiece(11)

That's us. All 15. This will be Mine and Hubby's and Kids 5th Cruise. 4th Disney. This time last year we were in Bermuda on the RC Explorer. Can't get away from Disney!!!

My Sister and Hubby have cruised 2 times. 1 Disney and 1 RC (last year too)
Their children have been in college and have not been able to join us so this will be their first. They are so excited.

My Mom and Dad have cruised Disney 3 times.

We have first seating. Which I was suprised to get because of booking so late but I am glad.

Do you guys plan on doing fish extenders?

Hey Tammy,
We are at the first seating for dinner also. Our DD is 9 as well. Dumb Question, what's a fish extender?
