4 day Wonder -New Years Eve 2007

We cruised this past year on a 4 night on the Magic on Dec 26th. Port Canaveral and Nassau were COLD!! The sea day and Castaway were beautiful though, so I guess the weather is very unpredicatable.

So is anyone staying on-site before the cruise and then taking DCL transfers? Maybe we could meet while waiting to be picked up. Looks like a few of the kids will be together at Oceaneers Club. I'll be real easy to find. Just look for a huge lime green straw hat.

Great to have a list, fhtpdw20! Hopefully we'll add more as time goes on. ::yes:: DH and I both have fall birthdays so I will be 57 and he will be 54 at the time of the cruise. We will be at WDW before and after our cruise but we're driving to the port so won't be able to introduce ourselves then. But here's a pix of us at Artist's Point last year for our 19th Anniversary dinner. Please, all fellow 12/30 cruisers, if you see us, be sure to say hello! Oh, and I'll look for that lime green hat! :disrocks:

We are staying 2 nights before at the BWVs, but usualy get our own transportation over to the port.

Thanks for the role cal list.

Howdy All!!! It seems as if we're going to have a pretty lively crew. I can't wait to get on board, kick my feet up, live the life of luxury and meet you all. After the cruise we're head'in over to the WL from 1/3-1/8 and soak'in in some more fun!

We’re going to be arriving at Cocoa Beach late Friday night and spend Saturday hanging out (we lay over at O’Hare and that airport always jinxes me so I build in a buffer just incase we’re delayed or our flight is cancelled). I’m considering the KSC Museum, soaking our feet in the Atlantic and maybe some miniature golf. Does anyone have some “must sees” that might be fun?

We will be heading back to Wilderness Lodge for one day stay before heading home. DH has always wanted to stay there and that is his anniversary present.

We are looking forward to staying there as well. I understand it is quite a site to see during the holidays, and comming in on Jan 3rd, we should be able to see it before the decorations come down (I hope).

I'm also interested in some "must sees" in the Cocoa Beach area. Although we are staying at AKV arriving Thursday, 12/27 spending 3 nights there, we're not going to do the parks . Our plan, also, is to go to KSC probably Friday and/or Saturday but eat dinner each night somewhere at Disney. After the cruise, we have 3 nights at GF and then 4 nights at BWV so we'll do the parks then. This cruise is part of a nice, long romantic vacation to celebrate our 20th anniversary. :hippie: Can't wait!!!:cloud9:

Did you have trouble booking AKV--or is that your home resort? We are at the BW right now, but I love AK and would like to see the new VC rooms there.

I have been incredibly lucky 'cause AKV is not our home resort. I had called June 1st and was able to get a Sav View Studio for Friday and Saturday (12/28 & 12/29) but not Thursday the 27th. Then I called June 27th because I was thinking about changing to concierge and, lo-and-behold, they had all 3 nights available Value. I grabbed it 'cause it was only 68 points! I also would love to try concierge sometime but I can't complain this trip. DH has been really sweet about everything including agreeing to waitlist for a Cat 3 suite. Now that's one last bit of pixiedust: that would absolutely make me :faint: if it came available.

is that all--68 points for 3 nights including 2 week-end--that's great.

I know! I was amazed! DH keeps kidding me that this studio will probably be overlooking the "special" dumpster when they clean up after the animals! :lmao:

In all seriousness, may I ask a question? When we leave AKV on the 30th for the cruise, how long will it take to get to the port? I was thinking we should leave around 9 a.m. Would that we about right? Thanks!

Hi Gang,

At the mention of fhtpdw20 I just found out about this thread. I had been planning a Christmas vacation with my family, DH(38), DS(12), DS(10) and myself DW(35) and celebrating with my sister, KT27(28), her DH(35) and DD(10).

We were in the midst of planning ADR's last Friday. We could not decide to do for NYE. We originally planning to stay at VWL from 12/23-12/27 and then switching to SSR from 12/27-1/2.

We were really having a dilemma of what to do NYE that would include everyone, be fun and not trapped in with tens of thousands of people.

I did a google search for ways to celebrate NYE in Orlando. A link came up to allears.net and quoted readers saying how they would best celebrate. One reader suggested there was no better way than on DCL.

So as I read this comment out loud to my sister on the phone, she said "why not". After my inital outburst that she was insane or heavily medicated, I was swayed. We had a paid for a cruise earlier this year and were unable to go. I had scheduled for a future date with no specific cruise in mind. With a little finagling and a patient Sandy at Small World Vacations, we are now joining all of you.

Sorry for my long windedness but I am very excited and am glad to be a part of this thread.

I would also love to hear your thoughts on what we can expect because of NYE. Any ideas on how they normally celebrate?

Thank you!

Kim

We had a pool view one time, and partial savannah--mostly roof- and a slight view of animals--and they were both concierge rooms.

We're sticking with BW, since it would be a lot of extra points for the three rooms and will try for AKV concierge on our visit over President's week-end---I think I can book that soon.

We have had a van take us to the port--it took about an hour for the ride. My son hates all the waiting at the port and then waiting to get into the room, so we'll probably not leave to go over til about 10 or 10:30. The DCL bus is easy, but I've heard it arrives late at the port.
