My husband and I have invited my brother and SIL to join us in a 2 bedroom in September. I have a couple of qeustions.

We will be arriving at 10am and so will check in at that time; they won't arrive until 8pm - 10pm that night - do they check in at that time? Or do we get their keys when we check in and they come straight to the room?

I know that they will be doing some work while they are there - is it possible to split out the studio and the 1 bedroom for phone charges?

Also, in line with the previous question - can their room keys be charged to a separate credit card, or does everything have to go onto my card (for room charges).

Basically, what I'd like to do is treat the 1 bedroom and the studio as completely separate - their keys get them into their studio, with their phone and room charges billed to their credit card, and our keys get us into our 1 bedroom, with our phone calls and room charges billed to our room.

Anyone know if this is possible? I did book a 2 bedroom, not a studio and a 1 bedroom, so I think that may make a difference.

Any suggestions?

You may have to wait for Doc to answer this one, but I don't think you can do what you are suggesting. It might be possible if you get a lock off, but we seem to never get lock offs when we reserve 2 bedrooms. I think you may have had to make the reservation as a seperate studio and 1 bedroom to do what you want to.

You will pick up all keys for the whole group when you check in. Charging priveledges are put on as many keys as you want. I believe it is just on one charge card though. In the past, we have had charging priveledges on our keys only. For phone calls, we have sorted that out at the end of the trip with our guests. If they are working on line through an 800 number, there is no additional charge.

Let us know if you are able to do otherwise.

diane has pretty well covered it!

Even if you have a lock-off 2BR, all charges will go on one reservation (it is also costing fewer points as a 2BR than a 1BR and Studio). I would keep it as a 2BR- in spite of the minor inconvenience of the extra accounting.

You can have charging privileges on the keys you select. If you want, your keys can charge and their's can't. They will do this for you at check-in.

The keys are all numbered uniquely, so if all have charge privileges, you can easily separate the charges later- as they will be identified by the card number (1,2,3,4, etc.)

You should probably check-in when you arrive and get all keys. You can then meet them at Hosp House when they arrive- or have them come directly to the room - if you can contact them with the room # before they arrive.

Have a great trip! :)

Doc, I was sure I was right, but I needed your confirmation. I was interested to hear that the charges are listed by key number. I just might allow guests charging priviledges knowing that. It would certainly make accounting much easier. One of the reasons we have just had charging on my and DH's keys is because we didn't quite know how to sort things out at the end. It is good to know they keep track by key number.

While I am sure that they don't allow you to *automatically* assign different cards to different keys, wouldn't they let you do that at checkout? You wouldn't be able to use express checkout, but at normal checkout, don't they verify with you if you still want to put it on the card you originally gave them? Couldn't you, at that time, having figured out everyone's totals, tell the CM at the checkout desk to put $200 of the total on card A, $400 on card B, etc? Years ago, I used to work in retail, and our ancient cash registers could do that way back then. I'm pretty sure that their systems could handle it, do you think they'd let you do that? Again, just making sure I read the posts correctly. :-)

Yes, you can charge some $$ to one CC and some $$ to another. The only trick is sometimes Disney will charge your CC part way through your stay, especially when there are a lot of charges to the room. The front desk can then back out the charges to your CC and charge them to the other CC at checkout.

You will want to work out the particulars about charging to the room keys before you arive because the front desk will activate all the keys at once. If you don't want to meet them or have them come to the room, you can always leave the keys and an extra car pass with the front desk.

As for the phones ... we brought along a cell phone and used it everytime we called off property. We sometimes had to stand on the porch to talk, but it worked OK ;).

Just an addition on phone calls. The hotel has a charge for both local ($.35?) and long distance calls ($outrageous) but no hotel charge for an 800 calling card call. Highly recommend that anyone who is going to spend quite a bit of time making calls have a calling card for which you can dial an 800 number and even use it for local calls.

I have done this - you ask that the doors between the rooms are locked and treated as a 1-bedroom and studio with a separate key for each side. (I have taken people that I work with, and this works for us). But you are only charged for a 2-bedroom. this only works with lock offs, so if you have a regular 2-bedroom forget it. this must be done before you arrive - so if you want it do it now. Oh expect surprise at the resort because very few people do it.

you can open the doors between the rooms if you want, after every one gets their own keys.

I have a question re phone charges. I was not charged the .35 cents for local calls or calls charged to my AT+T card. I thought this was because I was staying as a member on points. This was last March, has this changed?

The charge for members is $.35. For regular WDW guests it's $.75. Sometimes if the only charge to your room is one or two $.35 calls, I think they just "let it go".

The rate for non-members is .75 per call. The .35 has been in effect for a couple of years now, but as Pam mentioned- if the call volume is small they may overlook the charge.

On our last trip to HH, I made a locasl call after receiving our express check-out. Before leaving, I went to the desk to give them the .35 and was told to forget it and have a safe trip home.
We were charged for all of my other calls (all were local calls to connect to the internet)- about 25 of them!

You could call and request a lockout and a one bedroom, connecting. I have done that and used points for a 2 bedroom. I would think that it would be easier to request separate charging and phone bills because they could then treat it as a studio and a 1 bedroom and it is already in the system. When we did this, we did recieve separate keys for the studio and for the 1 bedroom section and I THink that they phone was separate too. BUT--- since it is cheaper points to have a 2 bedroom as opposed to a 1 bedroom and a stuido, combined. You may not have the option.
