4/25/09 Magic - First Visit To Tortola!

Booked our excursions and filled out the kiddie registration forms (that was easy).

Just checking in. Its been so ong since I have been on that I feel like Tom Hanks from Castaway. I have missed so much.

It will take me awhile to read through all the pages.

My MIL has joined us on this cruise, so we are a total of 5.

Up here in NH it reached the high 40s today.

I was getting sick of hearing my furnace kick on all the time.

I can not wait to get to warm weather.

Hey Stranger...wondering when you were going to join in! Hope all is well with everyone. The kids have been in contact as usual....

Do you guys have the 2nd seating again. I was wondering if we all want to link up again? We have made a Palo's reservation for Monday, told Paula we should all get together..

We booked the island drive /beach break in Tortola. Anyone else?
Really wanted the Baths, but don't think MIL would make it.
I was surprised at how early it was ....9:00 am!

For you EXPERTS out there... at what time do you think we will meet up for a9:00am excursion? This will be our first, that's why we booked through Disney.

I was thinking about renting a day room in St. Thomas (there are some beautiful hotels!!) Just not sure if it's worth it for the time we are there. I think we are there 9:00 to 4:30?
Any suggestions on that?

We booked the following excursions:

St. Thomas: St. John Island Tour
Tortola: Kayak at Peter Island, Tour to Virgin Gorda
Castaway Cay: Glass Bottom Boat Scenic Voyage, Extreme Getaway Package

After our excursions, I was thinking about visiting Cane Garden Bay in Tortola, Trunk Bay Beach in St. John, and/or Magens Bay Beach in St. Thomas on our own.

We got everything we wanted but we got to book early being CC members.

I thought the start time for the excursion WAS the meeting time but I honestly don't remember from our cruise 2 years ago.

I was hoping that we DON"T meet at 9:00 am ( earlier , I was hoping!) It is supose to be 3-3.5 hrs tour, starting at 9:00 to 12:00.

If the three hours include wait time for everyone to meet, as well as get off the ship, then we are really getting HOSED for $38.00 a person!!!!!

Anyone know for sure?

Okay everyone, on Saturday, it will be 10 weeks until we leave for the warm waters of the Caribbean ! And you know what that means -

Looking for a dive/snorkel buddy!

i have a small 4-person private boat booked along with a dive master, have room for 2 more divers/snorkelers at tortola. we've always avoided the cattle boats and had great times with small operators, and wind up paying less in the long run. i just found this board, so forgive my lack of signature/photos, etc. let me know if you are interested, and we can exchange info.

I found great pink pirate lanyards at Home Depot where the keys are for $2, had about 8 different designs and found Pirate polo's for my DS 5yo at Target. Now looking for Hawaiian Shirts! I have to kill time somehow.

Well the cruise is less than 10 weeks away, so if there is nothing else to talk about for the upcoming cruise, I guess I will just have to think about my NEXT trip to WDW next year , but make no plans, just get them in my head......

Hey everyone.

For those of you getting into town on Friday, there's a rocket launch scheduled on April 24th at 8:00pm. That'd be a nice night launch and great sightseeing. More magic before the Magic!

Thanks for the update. We knew about the launch but read it was for noon. DS is going to love seeing it go up. We might do KSC on friday? Depends if we come down from Universal early on friday or rest up for the cruise.

I'm a newbie and this will be our first Disney Cruise. We are very excited to find this message board. Not sure if we'll be able to do all the extras stuff you guys are talking about (I'm already a little overwhelmed, this being our first cruise), but it sure sounds fun.

thanks for the information about the launch! That sounds very fun. Will we be able to see it from Port Canaveral? We'll be at the Radisson on Friday night. I've always been interested in space flight and such.

Hope everyone is doing well. We've had a fun weekend in Baton Rouge. Lots of Mardi Gras activity!

Actually, I must have had too much Mardi Gras fun -

We are staying at the Residence Inn - Marriott in Cape Canaveral on the Friday night before we cruise. NOT the Radisson Inn.

Is anyone else staying at the Residence Inn?

And does anyone know if we will be able to see the launch from there?

I told my DH and he was pretty excited also

I think it is a rocket launch, not a shuttle launch.... but still very cool. I think it launches from the air force base not KSC. They look by map to be very close. Not sure where the best viewing will be. There are 2 shuttle launches scheduled in May... so maybe they will be on the launch pads already... I hope!!

We are leaving Wednesday night!!!
