Welcome home! Excited to see you soon...we need to organize details with Cheri via PM!

Well we know DCL has booked 10AM flights...Anyone any earlier?

.

So, tell me some scary stories...

Well... guns, gangs, schioprenic customers, same sex gone wrong, peeing in public, children left unattended, illegal exposures, teens in same bathroom, snakes, maggots, staff being hit, drugs buys.... and this is just some of the stuff. :scared1:

Details can be given on the ship.

Kristi

I was just looking around on the DCL website for our cruise, and noticed that, just this afternoon categories 6, 7, 8, and 9 went from lots of rooms available to GTY status. That may mean they have begun the stateroom shuffle, and those with GTY status may get their assignments before too long, don't you think?

Yup, we're still waiting. I really want to know my cabin #!

QOTD: Will you partake of the Drink of the Day?

This is a non-alcoholic lava slide - strawberries in pina colada base -
from Kimo's on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui

Yes! I can't afford to buy too many of these, but the pina colada based ones are always my favorite. Of course they're also the least healthy, but hey- it's a vacation!

I am loving this show!!!! :cheer2:
Are you rooting for anyone in particular?

I love the show so far. I have a few "favorites".

When in Hawaii, check out the fabric section of Wal-Mart. All the islands' stores have a great selection of tropical prints.

When I saw the lime green material, I had to have it.

I love Walmart for fabrics, even here in NY. They're a lot more reasonably priced than local fabric stores and always have a good selection.

DCL is sending the people at Port Canaveral today to Epcot!

From Disney

"Due to unfavorable weather conditions in the Bahamas, the arrival of the Disney Magic into Port Canaveral has been delayed today. We now anticipate beginning boarding of today's voyage later this evening.
We realize this delay in check-in and boarding is disappointing to you, and hope you understand these current weather conditions could not be helped.
We have arranged complimentary Theme Park admission at Epcot today for our embarking passengers. We invite you to visit the Disney Cruise Line Hospitality Desk at Epcot to receive admission tickets and meal gift card.
We sincerely regret the delay and appreciate your patience. Please call 1-800-939-2784 after 1 p.m. this afternoon for further updates."

SWEET!

Where to begin?!?!?!?!

Ok we had to be at topsiders around 4:30 AM. The breakfast was not a full breakfast by any means. It was our first cruise so I had no idea what a normal morning was like so that was fine with us.

We get into the terminal and the bags are a MESS. Literraly NO organization to them at all. It was just a SEA of bags.

There were hardly any porters and even when you saw one they were already taken by someone else.

We had to drag all of our bags to the buses ourselves. We paid for DCL transfers so we were hoping that more assistance would have been given for our $130 ride to the airport.

We were a party of 5. There were about 6-8 buses outside that were just a free for all. We would walk up to a bus dragging all of our stuff and they would say...we could fit 2 of you and the next one we could fit 3 of you, etc. We were traveling with a 2yo and a disabled grandma so spliting up was not really an option.

Finally we get on a bus and everyone on the bus is starring at us not wanting to move or even make any room for us to sit down.

We then get dropped off at the Barcelona airport REALLY far from the terminal. FAR is kind of an understatement. There was NO ONE to help with the bags and no carts to use. So DH and I, have to take multiple trips back and forth trying to get all our luggage, our DD's and grandma to the actual terminal. We get to the terminal for a REALLY LONG check in line. All the lines were like that. Securtiy was not much of an issue it was the airlines lines that were so bad.

They were there with there bathroom scale weighing everyone's bags as we stood in the long line.

We then made it to our gate only to find out we had to be bused to the actual plane.

I have tried to block out the bad memories...:rotfl2: but that was the morning in a nut shell. If we were not with my mom and the girls and all of our luggage things would have been better. I still however would have been very disappointed in how DCL treated people who bought air through them.

That sounds AWFUL!

So there's no luggage tag program that will take care of getting our bags checked in at Barcelona, like Magic Express does?? I was hoping we could leave our bags outside of our cabin and then not have to worry about them again until we got to London. Our bags are going to be tough because we have so many people and so much to keep track of!

Don't forget she was eating breakfast at 4:30 because she had a very early flight. It is possible they fixed that in the next couple hours before the rest of them got off.

Anybody else on that 2007 crossing who left the ship later than crack 'o dawn?

Amazing reading about the Magic stuck at CC. I have to say, though, if I were faced with this situation I'd be so glad I'm on DCL -- I have complete faith in them after 6 cruises. I had a friend who sailed Carnival and the went straight into weather that flooded their entire deck and staterooms. She refuses to even consider another cruise, on any cruise line, these days. They were completely traumatized.

. . . There have been unfortunate instances by now of vacationers returning to a stripped down house because they divulged their vacation plans online.
Years ago, we belonged to a Disney enthusiasts club. One member shared too openly about his vacation plans.

His home was burglarized while he was away. The thieves were Disney collectors, since they took specific expensive pieces, and left the rest.

Reading this makes me glad my big family is not using DCL transfers. I'd rather drag my bags out myself to my own private transfer and get dropped off in the right spot. Sorry you had that mess and hoping its better for those using DCL transfers this time. For what they charge it should be stress free and easy.

Ok I have all the FE gifts into disney baggies and the adults sorted by Dis name. The kids bags still need a little bit more candy in them :) and a Captain Mickey sticker for the 4-10 year olds and a fun highlighter for the 11-13 group and then I have to merge them into their family bag AND all of them need to have a paper put into them to say who they are from and then I am DONE except for the 6 teenagers as I am having them something special made at the print shop - I actually have done more things for the teenagers than everyone else - I hope that is ok - but they are usually the hardest but I found some cool things for them and since there are just 6 of them (including mine) it was easy to do.

now off to the fabric store to a sale they are having - hoping to make my secret mickey something special with a gadget I am picking up there.

catch back up later . . .

We were in Paris as a family in 2007 . . .

Ok we have now booked a room at the Marriott.

. . . Now have you actually stayed at this hotel or just know about it? I have some other questions if you have stayed . . .
We've stayed there twice -- one week each time -- and loved it.

Calling it a "room" is an understatement.

It's a complete villa with two bedrooms, 2-1/2 baths, full kitchen (refrigerator, oven, stove, microwave, dishwasher), laundry room, dining room, and living room.

oh good you have stayed there - I am glad the washer and dryer are in the unit as now I can wash our clothes when we get there instead of the last day on the ship!!! This is getting better all the time.

Now a couple of questions for you:

How is the best way to get to the hotel from the airport? just pay the 15 euros per person for the fast train or hire a private car?

Do you know how much the shuttle to the entrance of Disneyland is? and is that where the train station is that we would take into Paris?

Thanks!

My family and I decided to book the transatlantic cruise today. I am so excited!! I am wondering how/where do I sign up for the lanyards, meet and greets and the Secret Mickey?

WELCOME! The first 10 or so posts on page 1 should give you all the info you need. There's also a link to the FAB website Lynne built for us.

You need to have 10 posts on the DISboards before you can send/receive PM (private messages). So post a few more times with questions or tell us about yourself/family/Disney adventures, then you can contact the organizers of events.

WELCOME TAMMY & FAMILY. :welcome:

Well, that horror story of transfer to airport in Barcelona was really scary. It's got me thinking about a private tranfer to the airport despite having booked Disney air. Anybody had a good experience? Am I just overreacting? It's just me. So the group issues won't apply. I suppose it will really depend on flight departure time.

Thoughts? Suggestions?

Welcome! Have you read the first 10 posts or so of this thread? There is a lot of very useful info including a link to Auntlynne's off site web page with even more info. Sign up for the Secret Mickey soon as I think the deadline is the 15th. The lanyard team is buying enough for everyone on the cruise. Just let Auntlynne know which nametag you like.
