(3X Update & FINAL!! 3/24)*~*EVERYBODY DANCE NOW!*~*A Mother/Daughter Feb 2013 TR!

Thank you. DD(19) designed it and the artist didn't change much. He changed the design of the flowers and improved the flow of the scroll work. If you look closely at the bleeding hearts, one is different. That was his nod to her design. It was really cool.

That is SO awesome that your dd designed it! :lovestruc I'm finding that I need my tattoos (haha...only have the 1 SO FAR) to have really special meaning and be unique. I'm having to laugh at myself though that I'm just now finally deciding to get tattoos when I'm 40 years old! :lmao:

Ah! 5:40 in the Magic Kingdom is the best time for the move it shake it! I hope you guys got out there to dance at some point, it's hands down my favorite thing to do! I also really love the tomorrowland dance party! One of my friends gets to hang with dale during those and we got some special dancing time in Feb!

Excited to read about desserts!!

Oh man, my love for the PeopleMover is never ending, seriously. I love it so much! Always a go-to when the park is busy. I also love Tomorrowland in the evening; it's so beautiful all lit up. I can't wait to hear about the Dessert Party for you guys! And that is awesome that the DJ was there! I usually hate the stage over in Hollywood Studios, but this one wasn't bothersome at all to me, and the characters all looked cute dancing, haha.

Yay for more dance partying!!!

Ooooh can't wait to hear about the Fireworks Dessert Party!!

Coming right up! :thumbsup2

This is what I love about Disney...there is always something new to explore and do! We had never really spent any time at the dance parties, so it felt like something completely new and exciting for us!

Was the stage at Hollywood there when you were there? I noticed it was GONE this time, which was great, I didn't like the stationary one they had put up. They came in on a "float stage" like they used to this trip and I was glad to see they had removed it! I knew the Stitch stage was there but we just had never really taken the time to explore the dance party stuff. SO much more fun that I expected.

Dessert party update comin' up!

Chapter 17: Dual chapter title? How many desserts can you eat or How many times can you ride Big Thunder in 30 minutes??

We have to back up here a bit. When planning this trip I had decided that I wanted to do something new and special. I decided pretty quickly that the Dessert Party would be perfect for us since Savannah loves sugar and well, I do too! ;)

I stalked the Dessert Party thread, knowing that they usually didn't release the reservations until about 2 months out. January came and they still had no released reservations and I was getting worried! I checked the site multiple times a day, it was a bit of an obsession. See...thanks to the DIS, I had read that they reserve the tables by order of when you get your ADR, so I was determined to jump on them as soon as they opened up. I was concerned though b/c there had been rumor of a rehab and thought maybe they wouldn't be doing the DP in February.

Well, one morning, I had to drive Rey to his Dr. appointment an hour away from home. I popped on the DIS and was reading my subscriptions when I saw that it had opened. I must have the best timing ever! NOT. I panicked a little but realized that I could still get this done. I popped on the phone and had Dylan (my 18 year old) get right onto my computer, where I had bookmarked the Dessert Party reservation page and book it for us! :cool1:

I was so good, I kept it a secret from Savannah until we were on the plane! I NEVER keep secrets, so that in itself was pretty amazing. :rolleyes2

So...we had just pulled ourselves away from the dance party and arrived at the terrace to a huge line. It wasn't super magical b/c people were acting like where you were in line mattered...you know, when they creep up on the side of you in a wide line and then try to get in front of you? I was slightly annoyed, but I let it go b/c I knew it didn't matter where you were in line, you could SEE the cards on the tables from where we were, that reserved everyone's tables.

The line finally started moving just a bit before 7pm and we checked in. They put a bracelet on your wrist in case you want to leave and come back, however, even though we thought we might leave, there wasn't time.

The CM took us to our table and low and behold, we had THE.BEST.TABLE. in the house!

Disney20131143.jpg

I'm not kidding you, there was not a single table closer and more up front than ours! PIXIE DUST!!!!!!! This was our view, you can see the railing right in front of our table...
Disney20131154.jpg

Now, I will tell you the exact way to get the best table in the house...be a PARTY of 2. Yep. The best seats are tables for 2, right in front. I had known this, and was hopeful, but to actually get one of these tables was just icing on the cake...and cookies...and tarts... ;)

First and foremost, I wanted a PP shot because they had a photographer set up. So, we headed over there and had our picture taken.
KarenMKnight13.jpg

Then we headed for the dessert! I only got one shot of one of the buffet areas, there were just too many people and it was a little frenzied, so I didn't feel like I could just take tons of pictures.
Disney20131144.jpg

There was a nice variety of desserts. I knew from reading that it got a little frenzied with people grabbing stuff, but I think that's silly, they replenish the stuff really fast, so we just took a little of everything and headed to the table. We were pretty hungry as we didn't have a dinner that night, so our dinner was dessert! I'm glad I planned it this way, I have no idea how people could eat dinner and then try to eat all these desserts.
Disney20131146.jpg

trying to remember...from left and then clockwise...chocolate cheesecake (in the little cup by itself), apple tart of some sort on the plate, lemon something? fruit tart, mango shooter in the middle, chocolate something, cannoli, dark chocolate covered strawberry. Sorry, that was lame, they were all good and so much fun to try different stuff!

They had drinks (raspberry lemonade for Savannah, water for me) and Savannah wanted FRUIT, she was craving it after all this junky stuff...and they had lots of fruit as well.
Disney20131147.jpg

they also had brownies, cookies, and rice crispy treats...these were average fare.
Disney20131149.jpg

This was SO FUN! We really enjoyed it. As we sat and tasted all our desserts, we could see MSEP going by (not very close if you really want to SEE it) and it was so relaxing and magical! It even started to sprinkle a little but we were under the roof and totally dry!
Disney20131153.jpg

So magical watching the castle change colors.
Disney20131158.jpg

Hard to get a shot with a flash, that's why she's making a face!

Before we knew it, the castle light show (before Wishes) had started! It was great to just enjoy it, we didn't NEED to stand up, but Savannah wanted to, so we got up and stood at the railing. I had already decided that I was not going to take pictures of WISHES this time, or worry about the perfect shot. This is a trend for me. I spend so much time taking these fireworks shots that I feel like I missed enjoying the moment when it's over. BUT...that doesn't mean I couldn't take pictures of the show before Wishes! :lmao:

ready?...I have to start a new post for all of them, there's not enough room in this post! :rotfl2:

Chapter 17 continued...

I guess deciding that I wasn't going to take pics of Wishes, I kind of went overboard on the pre-show shots! :lmao:

We sat back down and had a few more desserts while we were waiting for Wishes to start up. It was definitely a different vantage point than Main Street, but so refreshing to not have to stand in the crowd! I like both ways for different reasons. They came by and cleaned out plates up and I had some coffee. Ah...so nice! Before I knew it, it was time for Wishes. I took it all in, and cried, standing there with my girl. But, as YOUR luck would have it, SHE was taking tons of pictures with her phone and I decided to just snap a few shots. Now, these are not set up and nothing like I would take if I had my tripod with me and had opened the shutter for a longer period, but I'm glad I got a few shots to remember what it looked like from this view and the moment with my girl. :cloud9:

It's over to the side of the castle, but I think it's a great way to view Wishes!
Disney20131372.jpg

Disney20131382.jpg

Wishes was over and we sat back down and enjoyed relaxing and watching the hoards of people move out of the park. A LOT nicer than being in that hoard! Now, I had learned that they were keeping the park open an hour later, but by the looks of all the people headed out, not everyone knew! Savannah & I decided to make the most of it and after a bathroom break, we headed towards our favorite nighttime ride at MK! Big Thunder Mountain!!! :woohoo:

I had to come back and add here. I thought this was a FANTASTIC way to do Wishes. I wasn't sure that we would book as a whole family b/c it would be pretty expensive with 5 or 6 of us, but when I got home and Rey saw the pictures...he wanted to do it as well! Sooooo...looks like we'll be booking again on our next trip!

We had to hold tight to each other and play FROGGER across Main Street, but we made it unscathed! We busted a move to BTMRR and sped through the queue like the wind! As we did, I looked at my phone and realized there was only 30 minutes left until closing.

We decided right there and then that we were going to just keep going. We both guessed we could do the ride maybe 3 times, if the line stayed like this...and we were off! The next 30 minutes consisted of us riding and RUNNING back around to the line and getting right back on! It was SO much fun, one of my best memories of the trip. We were laughing with the CM's as we walked off and then ended right back on the ride. Our last ride we thought we wouldn't get on, but we did! Our 4th ride in 30 minutes and this time there were so few people that they just let us choose where to sit and FRONT it was! There was a husband and wife behind us and we joked about keeping our arms up the whole ride and all of us did. I put them down once going up a hill and they all yelled at me to get them back up! SUCH a blast and an awesome way to end our evening. I took ONE lone picture to remember b/c there was no time for pictures...just fun!

Disney20131386.jpg

I normally end an update like this at the end of the night, but I'm going to end it here b/c it's a perfect ending to a perfect evening.

Up next...THAT is the line for Pop?!?!?

Wishes Dessert Party is the best. We had a pretty good table too for a party of 4! I would def book again!!

It was great! I was a little worried b/c people who did it when it was smaller and more intimate have a lot of complaints about it now (crowded, rushed, frenzied) but I thought it was great and I didn't feel like there were too many people at all. They refilled the desserts really fast and we are definitely going to do it again.

I have to reply again... Sounds like a great evening!!

We were at MK as well that night. We arrived about the same time as you, because when we walked in the Celebrate parade was going on and I said that is a weird time for this parade. We watched for a few min but then headed over to Frontierland to watch the Electric Parade. Once we watched the parade we had supper at Peco Bills and then left for the night because I knew we had the dessert party for the next night. Funny how close we were to meet but yet so far away...lol

Awesome pictures!!!!

OMG, so close yet so far! I love this kind of stuff though, so cool to think about how we were in the park at the same time! :goodvibes

Great update & GREAT castle shots! I Honestly didn't know they had a pre-show. We rarely do firework shows b/c I have massive adversion to thick crowds of people......

Can I ask, what is the price for the dessert party? I mean, I guess I could look it up and all.. but that requires more effort that typing it here! Hahahaha!!! I might look into this for November.

And today.. oh today.. I am taking the plunge...it's opening day for registration for the wine & dine 1/2. There's no turning back now! :scared: Well, least at 11am when it opens for me & I register!!!

WOOT! Yay for registration! I cannot WAIT to register for the PHM, so I know you must be so excited!!! :cool1:

There was tax, and it ended up being 51$ and some change, so I think it's about 25$ a person. You have to pay when you make your ADR, and this was the only thing I used my CC for b/c it was easier at the time with Dylan trying to get my reservation for me! I totally think it was worth it...BUT...it's going to be harder to swallow when there are SIX of us. 50$ for a unique experience sounds pretty good...150$...mmmm...not as great!

I was on the fence about the Dessert Party, but after your write up, I think I will definitely do it in August. Now, thanks to you, Karen, I will have to look at my schedule, come up with a date, go find the thread (unless some helpful person provides the links to both info and reservations ;) ) and make sure there is money in the checkbook for such things. You are so lucky to ride BTMR over and over again. Victoria and I love that ride!!! I am getting so excited for our trip and reading about all of your pixie dust is getting me uber excited!!! :hyper:

The dessert party looks awesome!! I have to say that I'm glad they have fruit, I'm like that too in the way that I start craving fruit after a couple sweets, it's just too much.

Love the pictures! Glad you guys were totally immersed in it, awesome!!

That's great that you got that many rides on BTMRR in, awesome!! Love the spontaneous fun times like that when you're really getting to be a kid all over again!

All those desserts look scrumptious!!! :cake: The WISHES Dessert Party isn't something I had ever really looked into or considered. After reading your rave review I think I might just have to check it out. ::yes:: We probably won't do it on this upcoming trip, but maybe in the future. I think Caden would really enjoy it. Riding BTMRR 4 times in 30 minutes....that's totally cool. I hope to ride Tower of Terror over and over!

I am usually a Trip Report Pusher, but I think the ending of your last update is just perfect. It puts a nice little bow on the package. Now....could you get moving on another post already? I'm anxious to read more! :rotfl2:

:lmao: Glad I can help out Ann! AND, you will get to see DTD and Wishes from the Poly in just mere days, right?!?!?

Yep, we were happy to have something other than sweets (even though fruit is sweet too) after 2 days of Disney junk! I didn't realize I would get junk-fooded-out so fast on this trip, but I did!

We ended another trip doing Big Thunder at night like this (although not multiple rides) and it was a blast! I love it at night!

It was a really unique way to see Wishes...but upcoming on our following night we had yet another unique viewing of Wishes that was fantastic as well and didn't cost anything...so stay tuned for that! ;)

I have read all of your trip reports over the last few days. Yes, I had too much time on my hands. :lmao: But anyway....DH and I had that same table in December!! We would do the dessert party again for sure! I love fireworks, but hate the crazy Main St crowds!! :crowded:
Love the reports! Glad to join this one in real time.

That is some dedication! :lmao:

It was the perfect spot! It really did make it more relaxed and enjoyable. I think next time I will bring my tripod! :thumbsup2
