Hi, We are cruising May 2006. Is this a good addition for us to read? Is there a newer version coming out soon?

What are your opinions on the passporter for DCL?

Thanks

Jennifer, I have the 3rd edition (heart from this board recommended it!), just got it this week and immediately read it cover to cover. I feel much better prepared for the trip, and I'll be bringing it along on the trip to for review. There is a lot of info in it! I do not know if a new edition is on the horizon or not.

Well I have 2 editions of the WDW Passporter and really liked them so I decided to get the DCL Passporter. I just got in on Thursday and I LOVE it! It is a better book than the WDW one and I would highly recommend it. I have learned a lot from these boards but the book just puts it together so well and I even learned lots of new things as well.

I have the 3rd edition which I think came out this past spring. I don't know if a new one will be out before you cruise...I would suggest getting the 3rd edition.

I have a feeling that a newer edition will be out. At least, I am hoping so :)

For many of the cruises in 2006, there will the addition of the port of Costa Maya, so I'm hoping that the new Passporter would include that as well. Also, I'm sure they'd add in info for the 10- and 11- night cruises. :)

The third edition is wonderful and very good reading if you can't wait; but I'm going to wait and hope they come out with a fourth edition :boat:

I believe if you go to the Passporter website, you can find out when the next editon is due. I know the WDW Passporter comes out new at the beginning of each year, but I'm not sure about the DCL one.

The Passporter is the best place for DCL info, hands down. Jennifer and Dave Marx have taken lots of cruises and the amount of detail they have put in the book is invaluable. I have the 1st and 3rd editions. We just returned from the 14 night repo and they even had info on those ports of call in the 3rd edition. They in fact were also on this cruise. As stated above there is lots of additional info on their website and they have a monthly newsletter you can subscribe to.

OK, the website says the 3rd editon came out May 2005, so I don't think you'll have a new edition in time to be useful for a May 2006 cruise. I'd buy now and use the website for updates.

I bought it.....deluxe edition.....leather cover and all. If you send me your address, I'll mail it to you. I didn't find a single thing in it that was any help whatsoever. The August repo cruise was our 4th on DCL. I told Dave that when I called to order it, and he assured me that it would still be helpful. NOT!!! I shouldhave known better, but really resent the sales pitch..... These boards are WAY more helpful than the book, at least for seasoned cruisers. For first time cruisers they would probably be helpful....

Wow, what a generous offer. How lucky for the OP. If anyone else has a a 3rd edition Deluxe they're not wanting, I'd be happy to give it a good home. :teeth:

I have the third edition and it is wonderful. Much larger than the 2nd edition and filled from front to back with tips, ideas and secrets. I love the passporter series of books so much you would think I worked for them. I tell every Disney bound person I can to get these books ASAP. By reading the cruise guide I fell more than prepared for a perfect trip with all the "insiders secrets"

Everyone thanks for the info. I do apprecaite it very much.

jweiss I will pm you. What a nice offer.

I love my passporter - I keep it by my kitchen table and swoon over the pages like a school girl!
