We just went and saw Toy Story 3 in 3D and got these cool
glasses :3dglasses

I was wondering if they would work in the parks at the 3D shows? These are very sturdy. Has anybody tried this and do they work?

Thanks!

They don't work. It's a completely different technology.

They likely won't work, but the technology is actually very similar. (polarized lenses)

3D films are filmed in different ways, if your glasses don't match up to the particular way the film you want to watch has been shot in then it won't work :sad2:

DH and I were at Best Buy and watched the new 3D television - it was surreal to say the least. Having seen Philharmagic on our last trip (usually skip it, but had time to kill for some reason) and having seen so many 3D movies recently I can say that Disney REALLY needs to amp up some of their 3D shows. They've fallen way behind the current technology. I know its unlikely that they will anytime soon as I imagine it would be expensive, but the parks stuff looks badly dated.

As to the movie theater glasses we're supposed to recycle them here where I live. Large bins outside the theaters after the show. Irks me - feel like I should get the $3.50 3D fee back when I turn the glasses in, but that's theaters for you now days.

Just about a month ago Disney put in state-of-the-art digital projection in Muppets 3D.

I don't know the situation with Mickey's Philharmagic (it may have been digital from its beginning.)

Expect the new Star Tours 2.0 to be digital 3D when it opens in the next couple of years.

Look for whatever replaces the temporary run of Capt. EO at Epcot to be in digital 3D (again, sometime in the next year or two.)

Its Tough to Be a Bug (if it is still in film-strip projection) will likely go full digital within the near future, too.

Good to know. I didn't notice much difference in Muppets last month. I was thinking of ITTBB and Philharmagic -which gave me severe headaches. ITTBB is much better at DCA - or least it was several years ago. We'll be there in November so hopefully I'll get a chance to see it again.

Philharmagic has been such an odd run in general, but I was pretty taken back at how rough it looked last time.

Another thing to keep in mind when you are comparing the 3d tv to Diseny 3d, the demos that they show you in the store are going to showcase the BEST 3d they can find because the want to wow you. What you would need to do (which could never happen) is compare a Disney 3D show from the park to a 3d show made for TV on the same TV... It would never happen but it would be cool...
