We are a married couple, no children, in our mid 40's. We bought in 1997, so we've owned for almost 10 years.

When we bought, we bought with the intention of keeping the contract for its length. But we also had in the back of our mind that if, God forbid, we had to ever sell   :scared1: :scared1: :earseek: :earseek: , we would probably at least break even, if not make money. We figured that Disney would always have appeal, they have a good reputation for quality, the resorts would be well-maintained etc.

DVC is not a purely financial investment though. It is also an investment in family, friends, enjoyment, & leisure. It's tough to put a price on that!!!!!

Except for the fact that we bought in 2000 this is us. We've gotten great enjoyment out of our points and hope to for many years to come.

As long as I can wake up, suck in air, and my two feet carry me out of bed, I will be there!!!! And at 56, who knows how long that will be?
DH and I are empty nesters and just bought this year. Will use our 500 points as long as we can, share with our kids and grandkids, and will the points to whomever wants them! pixiedust:

We just bought in last year and we are Dinks. My dh is in his 43 and I am in my very early 50s and we bought so we could both go to Disney once a year and bring our neices, nephews and great neices. I also take a lot of solo trips during the year and its the one place my dh feels that I am safe. We don't plan on selling our points but would consider selling if for some reason we just decided not to go to Disney anymore. (not likely).

I expect that on January 31, 2054 I'm gonna be in bed and my contract will fall out of my hand onto the floor as I whisper..."Mickey Bar..."

:rotfl2:

Awesome!

To find out what you meant, I will need to go down and interview the despondent former Mrs. Mouse who is a barfly at Jellyrolls!

now, I'm not going to kid myself ( 49 years young) that I will be tooling around Disney at the tender age of 90 plus!

Well, why not Glorydaz?! :confused3 :)
I'm 40-something and single. Just bought in 2005. I plan to be riding TofT at the ripe old age of 90+.
If I gotta go, what better way than on the big drop?! :teeth:

Terri

well, Terri, that's certainly food for thought! actually, I like the idea of me on Test Track at the tender age of 90... :rotfl2: sounds like a great way to go!!

We also bought with the intention to use to end of contract. But we also know that we may not be able to -- stuff happens you know. If we can not use them then our daughters (both grown) can. We are enjoying the vacations and feel DVC is providing good value with the program.

DW figures we'll hold onto our DVC till the end. I'd like to sell in 10 years or so and buy a house in Orlando. Become Snowbirds. It's too cold here.

As long as health permits, we're in for the long run. Kids love it and are looking forward to having it through their adult lives (they are 16 1/2). We love it and plan to use as long as possible.

We will be moving to the Melbourne/Palm Bay area of Florida this year, probably in the fall. Doubt if we will sell the DVC though.

I can't imagine selling our points. We look forward to our visits "home" to BCV. We truly feel it is a second home. It's the one place that we can go to where the adults are happy and the kids are happy. This year we have 2 trips booked. We'll keep on going as long as possible! pixiedust:

Don't give up that easily - they have ECVs at WDW, you know :thumbsup2

I wonder. They say that as you get older, having reasons to live - friends, a SO, a social life, religion, etc. - can actually help you live longer. What if owning DVC, and knowing we've got points to use, helps us keep going a bit longer. Hmmmmmmmmm......

Boy, then that extra 12 years at SSR really starts to mean something! :lmao:
