3/22 Magic cruisers

DonnaDavid - My son corrected me over the weekend. The club does not have legos, but does have Kinex. Sorry. :(

I have not received my docs yet, but I just booked, so I don't expect them for a week or two.

We have'nt received our docs either. Anxiously awaiting them!! Won't be long now. Went to a mall on Saturday night and told my daughter I was not going to buy any more clothes for the cruise, but they have all thier summer stuff and cruise clothes out now. Could'nt resist a shirt with a island design on it and a pair of flip-flop type of sandels to wear to the pool area. This trip consumes most of my thoughts also, I can't wait. Let me know when and where we are going to meet, and do we bring our own lime green ribbon??

Disneyfreak, I wasn't going to tell Jacob about the Legos in case they weren't there anyway. However, I went ahead and mentioned the Kinex and he is very excited about their possibly being there. If not, I'm sure that we can find SOMETHING on the ship that will interest him. LOL

Maybe I'll get a can of corn instead of the green ribbon after all. I can give it to Sigafoos as a good luck charm. Of course, if your bag gets searched by security, you would have to explain why you're carrying a can of corn.

:teeth:

I don't have any docs yet, but Cathy at DU did give me a cabin number (we had a guaranteed cat 9 status) - 1048. I'm fairly disappointed to be on the first deck. Any suggestions from you veterans out there for getting this changed? Or should I even care?

Thanks for the help!
Jane

Duestrj, at least your cabin isn't on the list of "noisy rooms." We're in 2030-2032; we're getting ready to party with our upstairs neighbor (the Rockin' Bar D) whether we want to or not!

I can't remember where our cabin was the 1st time we cruised, but it was a cat. 9 just like this time. I can't think of any compelling reason why the 1st deck would be better or worse than the 2nd. You need to use that disabled search function - I do wish that was working again. I would post it as a new thread - someone should be able to help.

Still no docs here. I check the front porch everynight when I get home as UPS just leaves deliveries when we are not home. Just 3 weeks to go, or 6 more days off to prepare that sounds close! Donnadavid,
We will be close we are in 2548&2550 we are waitlisted for connecting cabins but I have given up hope as it sounds like the ship is full. The biggest reason I wanted them is so I can make sure DS actually comes back to the cabin to sleep! I guess I will have him call me when he gets in as I don't sleep as well until I know he is back:) It has been beautiful here, clear and sunny but cold. I work in grocery and even my customers know about this trip , when ever they see me they ask how many more days! Well its time to leave for work, gotta pay for those tropical drinks!

Hey sigafoos!

We have not received our docs yet either, but Disney told us that we would'nt receive them until two weeks out. I wish they would get here, I am so anxious. It looks like we will be on the same deck and near each other, I think. We are in room 2570. I have read alot of reviews on deck two, and most that have stayed there seem happy with the accomodations. We are in a Cat. 9 with the larger porthole window. This should be nice for sitting in the morning with my hot tea and watching the beautiful, soothing water go by. Can you believe it, we are three weeks from Saturday sailing away to paradise!! I can't believe how quickly January and February have gone by, now I would like time to slow down abit, because I know all to soon the trip will be here and gone!! We are haveing snow today and tomorrow off and on. Lucky you with that sunshine. Be seeing you soon!!

Mowanda (Brenda)

Did you get a guaranteed cat 9 or did you get specific rooms when you booked? I was told my stateroom number when I booked (2142 - we're on the same deck but we're way, way at the back!) maybe that's why we have our docs already. I am learning so much on these boards - I didn't even know there was such a thing as a guaranteed category - I just call DCL directly to book. I didn't know about the lime green ribbons either!

Got my Docs this afternoon!! When the UPS man handed me the package I think I jump 6 feet in the air, OK maybe only 1, but I am so excited. I even did a little "Chicken Dance" for everyone. You know the one where you flap your arms like a chicken, well it sort of looked like that. I've looked everything over some, but can't wait to sit down with DH to go over and start filling them out. That's great Marian that we are on the same Deck also. When we booked with DCL back in April, they gave us that stateroom number then and it has never changed. Well I'll be talking to you all soon face to face. But until then I will keep meeting you all here.

Well, we have a flight, a rental car, a hotel, and a tiffany town car to ride in from rental car place to port. We have excursion confirmations, but no cruise documents. Am I getting nervious, you bet!!!! Now, all we have to do is dig out 3 feet of snow drifts to get into the shed to get our extra suitcases.

DH will call Disney tomorrow to inquire about lack of documents.

The clothing thing is driving me nuts.....we are the people who take two carry-ons on the plane and stay a WDW for a week. Wonder if anyone will notice if I wear the same long black dress for two nights.....ummmmmm. DH is seriously considering renting a tux.......I guess this must have been a very good tax year.

We are so excited......it's been many a year since I was on a cruise (34 to be exact).

Got home from work and checked the porch- no docs! How sad:( Maybe tomorrow! We were given our room numbers when we booked and they have remained the same, maybe we are being upgraded to a cat 1 and that is why it is taking so long:p
Mowanda,
We were on deck2 on our first cruise and we liked it, the port hole is huge, I'm sure I would like a veranda but I didn't want to pay more for it when we were happy with out it. Last time we were in 2108 and it was very quiet.
Lil,
No one would even notice if you wore the same dress twice, I'm probably bringing the same two dresses I brought on the last cruise, I will have to make sure I don't wear the same dress in the same family pic we had taken last time on a formal night.
Kim

Lil,

Two years ago when we sailed Disney, I took waaaay too many clothes. On the days at sea, I lived in a swimsuit and cover up, so I only needed shorts for the ports. As far as the evening attire, I saw other ladies switch out different tops with the same pants. I plan on doing that this time. I thought I would bring two tops for one pair of pants. The only people who might notice you are wearing the same dress will be your tablemates. And, quite frankly, they will probably be doing the same thing. This time around, I am going to pack my suitcase, then go back and take stuff out!

(Once again, I'm on my daughter's name...)
We'll also be cruising on the Eastern Magic 3/22. We can't wait. This cold Indiana weather is enough already! We'll be cruising with 2 other families, so my 10 yo DD will have plenty of company, because their children are smaller too. But, I also have a 15 yo DD. Can't wait for that warm, sunny weather! :)

My DH was thinking of renting a tux too until I told him that it would cost a lot more because I'd have to buy a long dress;) He's got some really nice dark suits - I figure he can just change ties! I'm having way more trouble with my DS's (11 and 15) They don't own suits (our idea of church clothes is "clean with no holes"). I'm thinking of splurging though, even if they're only worn on the cruise. I read somewhere on this board that the best souvenier someone got from the cruise was the family photo taken on formal night.

Brenda - I can just imagine that chicken dance - I did it too when I opened the box!

ichsggolf5 - last year when we were on the 4 day Wonder we only saw my DS15 at mealtimes (because we told him he had to be there) The rest of the time he was with the Common Grounds group. He's not really that outgoing or social, but they made it fun and he had a great time. He's really looking forward to it again this year. Send your DD to the CG party the first night (I cringed when I saw that it started at 11 p.m.!) and she'll meet all the other teens aboard.

Three weeks from now we'll be at the airport. I can hardly wait!:bounce:

Greetings, Fellow 3/22 Cruisers,

I have a thread asking where others met on previous cruises. There seems to have been a lot of people meeting after the lifeboat drill and during the sail-away party as well as the Sunday after sailing. I think that Saturday is going to be pretty busy, so I would still favor meeting Sunday. Any other opinions? If most people prefer Sun. vs. Sat., how does 11 am sound? There is a DVC meeting at the same time - do we have any DVC members here?

As far as clothing goes ...
My group has a variety of approaches. Renting a tux saves room in packing (they even give you the shoes) and everthing 'magically' appears in your room. My dad rented a tux 2 years ago, and he looked and even more important FELT so fine in it. I don't believe he had ever worn a tux before. He will be renting it again. My Mom I believe wore the same dressy pants suit.
I brought a couple casual dresses and one nice one for the two formal dinner. My TEENAGERS brought as many as they could fit in their luggage. Teenage girls like a variety of choices!
My brother is coming this cruise and hopes to get by with his dockers. We are trying to talk him into renting a tux... we shall see.
I recall seeing all levels of dress on formal nights, from nice to very fancy. Just bring what you are comfortable with, it's all about having fun! :smooth:
I would recommend a sweater , sometimes you definitely need one.
smiles to all...
Deb

Hey Donnadavid,

I saw that thread that you started and after reading the responses there I think Sunday would be a better day for us to get together. I know we don't arrive in Orlando airport until 12:15 on Saturday, so we will not be getting to the ship until about 2:30-3:00 PM. I think it would be to rushed to try and get together on Saturday, and as this is our first cruise I am sure we will be walking around with our mouths open most of that first night just trying to take it all in. I can't believe we only have three weeks until we leave, I can't wait to meet you all.

DonnaDavid -

Sunday seems good to me. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Any idea how many we might have?
