3/22 Magic cruisers

sigafoos,

Guess what song is on my radio as I am reading your last reply?? "You'll be in my heart", from Tarzan the movie. I feel the same way as you, I have been collecting and collecting things to bring and I have a pile in my closet that is just mine. Need to start getting it together!! I can't wait to go, I am 53 years old, and I feel like a little kid at Christmas time again!! Isn't it wonderful what Disney can do for you, no matter how old you get!! I can't wait to walk through those ears at the terminal, I think maybe then I will believe I am really going on this cruise!! See you soon!!

Brenda

We've dropped to page 3 - time for a bump! Two weeks to go, even the kids know how many days till we leave and that they get to leave school early on Friday 3/21

Jane

My kids are missing school entirely on 3/21. My school district is cutting up to 20 days off our school year this year due to a budget crisis. Unfortunately, one of the days they're cutting is Monday, March 31 instead of Friday, March 21. Oh well . . .
We'll be leaving at 0530 in 2 weeks!
My husband is shopping for shorts, and I'm looking for lime-green ribbon tomorrow.
:bounce:

I'm pulling DS out for 6 days. He will miss Friday and then the whole next week. His sisters break is cruise week and if one had to miss school we thought college would be impossible to miss that much time. Also we are paying for it:p
Donnadavid,
Are you leaving at 5:30am? That is early! Our flight on American leaves at 1:30pm and we arrive at midnight. I feel so disorganized, like I should be doing something but I don't know what. So I 'm washing some summer clothes even though I think they were clean, but it makes me feel like I'm accomplishing something!

So how do you wear the lime-green ribbon? And let me know if you find any. I have some bright green ribbon, not sure I'd call it lime, and it's very narrow. Most likely that's what I'll end up with.

Jane

For the past 3 yrs., I've been looking for lime-green ribbons in the parks and have yet to see any. Since the purpose is to identify yourself to fellow DISers, I think you can wear it anyway and anywhere you think people will see it. I read another post where the group gave up on lime-green and just went with purple; I think your green ribbon will be perfect.

Kim, our flight doesn't leave until 0830, but it will probably take us about an hour to get there and park the car. There was an accident on the road to the airport yesterday that shut down traffic to the airport for 9 hrs.! How do you like this weather? Getting us ready for our Caribbean sun!:smooth:

I saw the accident on our news, thank goodness you were not trying to get to the airport! The weather has been strange, windy, rain sun all within a hour. I went to target and bought suntan lotion, aloe gel all fun sun things. DH has been working by Spokane this week and just drove home for the weekend and he said at Snoqualmie pass it was snowing hard, they had alot of snow dumped in the last 24 hours. All the more reason to think nice Carribean thoughts!
Kim

It's sooooooo cold here (-25 degrees F.), and our high is only supposed to be -18. I NEED that Carribean sun. We leave here at 12:05 a.m. (right after midnight) on the 21st and get into Orlando at 1 p.m. (long stopover in Toronto. Glad we have it because if Bush declares war I think customs will take forever). I almost made a huge mistake by writing our departure on the calendar for Friday. When DH called and asked if he needed Friday off I realized that we needed to go to the airport on THURSDAY night, not Friday. Glad I figured that out in time:eek:   !

DS's are only going to miss one day since the next week is their March Break. I was feeling guilty about that one day as DS15 needs all the time in school he can get, but as one of the teachers said, if your child is a good student a few days won't make any difference, and if your child isn't a good student, a few days won't make any difference!;)
Two weeks from now we'll be on board. Yippee!:jester:

We will be at the Embassy Suites. I would have booked at the Radisson but we arrive so late it didn't sound like a good idea to drive that late, also we have a free room at the Embassy using Hilton points, a small perk from DH traveling so much for work:p
Kim

Marian, that weather report makes me very happy about what is outside my door! My skies are dreary and cool but we're talking about highs in the 40-50's. You're right - you need the Caribbean.
We are also staying at the Radisson the night prior. We're landing at around 5:30 at Orlando. I think we'll eat dinner prior to driving out to the port. I have read lots of good reports about restaurants around the Radisson however. My poor mother is on central time, so she'll probably be starving by the time we make it to the Radisson from the airport.
I doubt Bush cares much about our vacation plans, but I would be very happy if he didn't complicate things by bombinb Iraq. I work with someone whose husband is in the National Guard and has just been called out. I guess a lot of people need some major doses of pixie dust right now.
And, I think I may be the last of our group, but I finally got those documents. However, Costco posted large orange stickers all over the brochure it came in saying that we needed proper ID or else. My husband doesn't have a certified copy of his birth certificate and the State of Illinois is not responding very quickly to my ordering one. Our passports are expired and are locked in a safe without a key (don't ever let a toddler play with important keys!) Oh, well, I'll miss him. LOL
Have a good weekend, everyone. Oh, and Marian, this one is for you:sunny: :sunny: :sunny: :sunny:

My suitcase is just a little full. Do I need to bring beach towels
of my own or do they supply towels for us to use from the cruise?

Happy Cruisin,
There are beach towels on board, and they are available at Castaway Cay, but I think you need your own for the other ports of call (unless you borrow them from your bathroom;) )

Marian

Marion,
Thanks for the info. I really need to pack as efficiently as
possible. My husband keeps telling me that the room is small.
Jackie:)

Hello everyone,

Well not long now, and I feel overwhelmed also about the packing and what to bring. I think I have a list for the list that I have made. I am going to feel like Santa Claus and checking it twice might not be enough!! Went shopping Friday night with my husband and conviced him to buy a new suit for the trip. That was quite a major accomplishment as he does not like to wear suits, especially to eat in. But, he is going to for the formal nights so we can have our special picture taken!

Hi guys. Wish I were going to be with you, but I wanted to let you know about a DISer CM that will be on your cruise! Remember DisneylandDarren and his posts from a back to back cruise a while ago? He liked the Magic so much, he got a job onboard! He's a riot. His first working cruise is that of this week so you all will be his 3rd. He's starting out as a server, so if you see a tall, brown haired English chap with a big wide grin, that would be Darren. Tell him that Lori and his DIS family say HI!
If any of you talk to him, please pop in on the following thread of his adoptive family, and tell us how he's doing!!! (how he ended up with 8 doting mothers, I don't know)

THANKS! Have a wonderful cruise!!!!!

Lori,
I read his posts and it would be so great if he is our server! I will be looking for him.
Well everyone, the days are slipping away. Am I the only one who thinks soon we will be back home and what will I look forward to?:( I want time to slow down once we are on the ship:p Got the travelers checks today and Wed will have one last trip to the mall with DD. Thursday I am having a candle party , I never have these but got caught in a weak moment and booked it . What was I thinking, a week before we leave:confused: It sounded good at the time! Hope everyone is enjoying all this anticipation as much as I am. I look forward to meeting everyone. We do need to at least get some first names, not just screen names. Please don't be offended if I forget names, Iam horrible at it, it takes me more than a few times for them to sink in!:D
Have pleasant Carribean dreams tonite!
Kim

Hi sigafoos(Kim),

You and I must be kindred sisters, because I have been thinking that the days are going so fast now and that the trip will be here and gone before I know it. I am already missing what I have'nt even experienced yet!! That's silly isn't it? I am so looking forward to this cruise. Had to go to the dentist today, had a tooth break off yesterday, and needed a patch job until I get back. I am so glad if it had to happen it happened before the cruise and not during!! I am going to start packing this weekend, I am not sure where it all is going to go, but I will make room for it some where. I know you all said pack light, but I have bought just about all new clothes for this trip and I don't want to leave anything home!! Oh well, what ever I don't use and wear I can just bring back home. See you all soon!!

Brenda

Hey! What's going on? I found us all the way back on PAGE3! This is totally unacceptable. Am I the only one with nothing better to do than spend my day on the DIS:p It has been raining buckets here, just 10 days until we board the Magic and leave winter behind. Tomorrow will probably be my last day off before we leave on Friday3-21. I'm going to do my best to get Thursday off also to pack. One good thing about my ever changing work schedule is the ability to get extra days off:) There is always someone wanting to pick up more hours and they know I'm the one always looking to work less. It is nice to be on top of the seniority list! Well there is laundry calling to me and many half finished vacation lists to work on.
