Just read that the 2nd dumbo ride being added to Fantasyland is the existing Aladdin ride with new theming. True? If so

does this seem cheap to others?

What's happing to that part of Adventureland? Are they keeing the theme without the ride?

i hope they don't get rid of magic carpets, I love that ride! can you post a link to where you read this information?

I have never heard any such thing. The new Dumbo attraction will be 2 Dumbo rides that are identical from what I have seen in the renderings - next to each other, in one area. I assume you will go on one OR the other for your turn, as they will be the same.

I have never seen/heard anything about any changes to Aladdin's Magic Carpets or Adventureland.

From here - http://themeparks.about.com/od/disneyparks/a/MKFantasylandExp.htm -

"Dumbo the Flying Elephant may be the most frustrating ride in all of Walt Disney World. No visit to the theme park mecca is complete without a ride on the charming, classic, big-eared elephant. For that very reason, there is typically a jumbo-sized line to endure just to take a 90-second spin on the spinning ride. Disney plans to tackle the rat-maze-hell problems with two improvements: A second Dumbo platform will double the capacity of the ride, and the queue will snake through a big-top circus tent complete with interactive games to entertain guests. "

It's an improvement to the original. Not a cheap second version.

good! I never ride the carpets but I'd miss the spitting camel.

I'm confused, how does this spell doom for Magic Carpets?

doesnt any one else think that having 3 of the same type of rides in the same park seem kinda pointless? I understand that dumbo is a very popular ride with kids but does having 3 of them make sense and yes i know magic carpets is not dumbo but its basically the same thing

They already have 3, Astro Oribiter. Throw in Triceratops Spin at AK and there are 4 in WDW

yes, including Astro Orbiter it looks like there will be 4 spinner rides at MK.

Well, by your reckoning there are lots of 'pointless' rides, then; AstroBlaster also goes up in the air and spins around, as does one dinosaur ride in AK.

And all those motion simulator rides; do you see those as being 'pointless'? In the end if you close your eyes and ears they're probably all pretty much the same ride.

No, most of us feel that the different theming of the rides makes them each enjoyable and not repetitive. Dumbo is a special case because the ride was designed for the anticipated crowd level of the initial Disneyland, not the 2010 crowd level at WDW, so doubling the available seats by building a second matching ride seems to make sense. I can't imagine Disney being silly enough to try to change the ride or tear it down just because of the logistics issues.

And personally, I have no interest in riding Dumbo but enjoy Aladdin!

does mission:space count as a spinner ride?

It spins, but I wouldn't group it in with Dumbo or Flying Carpets because it's not the same general type of ride. Mission Space is more a combination of a centrifuge ride and a simulator. Same with the Teacups (they spin, too, but in a different way using a different mechanism)

Same here - love the camel, but could do without the repetitive circles ....

Great! :headache: I think at age 8 DD is now old enough to let me spectate while she rides. She loves these things but it is seriously in the best interests of the other guests in the area immediately surrounding me, that I sit these out :rolleyes1

Do you have young kids? They love them and they are all VERY unique.
