How many of you have gotten a 2BR just for the two of you? My wife and I enjoy having a guest room. We have one at home. :thumbsup2

You never know when you will have guests showing up. :)

We haven't done this yet. We're still good with the 1bdrm.

I don't think I could do it for just 2. I'd go with a 1BR...unless I was expecting guests to join us. We have done a 2BR for the four of us though. We have two teens so the 2BR gives them each a full bed and gives all of us lots of space.

I guess unless I expect friends or relatives to visit during our stay, I would stick with a one bedroom and leave the 2 bedroom villa for those who would need it. I agree that if there were four people, then I could see getting a 2BR (as we are one of those with older kids who need their own space).

 :confused3 I have a lot of other rooms in my home that the villas don't have that we stay in..... but I would not just get a 2 br and spend the points too just to have an extra room that would not be used.

I take the original post to mean they like separate bedrooms, at least to have the option.

I can see having a one bedroom for the two of you, but what exactly is the studio portion used for? I'm not getting it, can you be more specific? That seems really excessive.

Since we are always in borrow-mode, I just don't ever see that happening for us. The 1BR is just fine.

For the two of us, a 1 bedroom does it. When the snoring gets too much for me, I find the sleeper sofa in the living room works great. It's plenty big for one person and comfortable enough.

We've done a 2 bedroom for the 2 of us quite a few times for various reasons. Mostly in case at the last minute one or more of the kids decide to show up but also, just to have space.

We had a 2BR booked for Jan for extended family to join us, but when they couldn't confirm they'd be able to come, we decided to switch to a 1BR. (my DH and 2 kids under 4). Thought about keeping a 2BR, but don't really need it given the kids are so small. Decided to downgrade and use the saved points to stay in a 1BR rather than a studio when we return in Oct 09

Er...um...no!

I couldn't see wasting the points. After all, it would be a waste, unless you were expecting company. Also, it sort of takes the opportunity to book a studio away from someone else.

I would rather get a 1 BR, save on points and make another trip later in the year. I agree, sleeper sofa is always there and there also might be another guest who is wait listed for a 2BR.

re: 2br unit for just the two of us

We haven't done this with DVC (yet?) - but we've enjoyed larger units than needed with our other timeshares. Often this is due to exchanging -- you take the 2 or 3 bedroom just because it is offered. We'll invite friends -- but if their schedules don't permit them to join ... we go anyway.

That sounds wonderful! Although I'd probably prefer to save the points for future travel like pps said. Then again I'm the kind of person who still couldn't justify reserving a 1br for 2 people :)... We still stay at a studio because I cringe when I calculate the difference in points btw a studio and a 1br... hehe...
But if I have points to spare (if they can't be banked or rented out or something) I would definitely do it... :thumbsup2

Justifying the 1BR over the Studio, even for 2 people, is easy: jetted tub, washer/dryer, full kitchen, king bed and the living room.

A DVC studio is "just a hotel room" in my eyes ... w/out daily housekeeping. Why bother??

I think I'd feel too guilty. We tend to go during busy times and I'd feel like I was depriving someone who really needed it.

But, hey, I'm willing to be convinced otherwise, if someone wants to give it a shot. :rotfl:
