OK....:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: I think it is hilarious those cakes are made of diapers!!! I so did not see that until you pointed it out!
:lmao: Nice choice Lauren!! LOL!!

Does a restaurant sell the truffle mac and cheese? Enjoy it on your honeymoon!
Not sure actually!

OK you know I love truffle mac and cheese and since I was not at the planning session (soooo not bitter:snooty: lol) I don't know how good the risotto is. But truffle mac and cheese....mmmmmm....

Lol don't be bitter :) DO you want me to pretend it was yucky?

Lol, I made one before so I knew it as soon as I saw it! :rotfl: They are really cute for baby showers!

I vote for Truffle mac-n-cheese! :woohoo:

I think that diaper cake with the blocks on top would be really cute for a baby shower some day! ;)

Great ideas everyone.

I have to say I like the cake with ribbon much better than the other. It shouldn't be hard to find ribbon.

Are carnations in season then? If not, it could be why they are pricey. I would look into a seasonal flower instead. Also, it takes a lot of work to make the flower balls, so if you cut that it could save money.

I would try and convince Eric to do a first look so that you can cut the pre-reception. It's a lot of money for just that small amount of time (and food).

I agree that you should cut some of the food; three carbs is overkill.

Beer and wine are perfectly acceptable.

The photo shoots: you will already be at AK, so why have a separate shoot (especially if you decide to save money and go with Disney photography and have pros at the reception). Do really need the MK shoot? If it's a must have, then save money elsewhere (like getting rid of the runner at WP).

$3K is a lot for the WP; could/would you be willing to have the ceremony elsewhere (like AK)? If you have it somewhere else, perhaps it would be cheaper. Plus, if you had it in AK, then you could save on the transportation cost.

Again, I would reconsider the linens. If it is cheaper to go with a table runner instead of covering it, I would do that.

Finally, did you let your WP know that you wanted to stick to the 13K budget (I get the impression you didn't because you said she was just adding things as you mention, instead of discussing costs in detail)? I ask, because I know that Disney is able to stay within a budget and give great ideas. They might be able to do something you never even thought of. So, I would call your WP and be honest, tell her you don't want to spend more than $13K and go from there.

Good luck! I know it's tough finding a balance between a dream and reality.

I think she's doing peonies, not carnations. Not sure when either of those are in season though.

She is doing both. The carnations are for decoration and the peonies are for her bouquet.

You did bring up a good point though. I don't think either are in season. Plus, peonies are an expensive flower. They are pretty, but I would consider something else.

What flower ARE in season in March? I have a black thumb so I know absolutely nothing about flowers. LOL!

Quick Google search:

Flowers Blooming Spring are:

Agapanthus, Amaryllis, Anemone, Apple blossom, Bird of Paradise, Brodea, Calla lily, Cherry Blossom, Corn flower, Cosmose, Dahlia, Delphinium, Delwood, Forsythia, Freesia, Gardenia, Heather, Helleborus, Hollyhock, Hyacinth, Larkspur, Casa Blanca Lily, Gloriosa Lily, Stargazer, Liatrus, Lilac, Lisianthus, Narcissus, Orchid, Peach blossom, Peony, Phlox, Poppy, Protea, ***** willow, Ranunculus, Rose, Seeded Eucalyptus, Solidago, Statice, Stephanotis, Stock, Sweet Pea, Tulip, Viburnum, Wax flower, Zinnia.

You would think March being spring would mean lots of flowers are in season :confused3

And why, may I ask is the vintage car considered entertainment??? What exactly is going on in that car?

Okay, just ran a quick excel sheet and with the two location charges, photo package, floral and floral moving, the motor coach and the Ipod you are over 11500. The only thing you can cut from that to have two locations at 13000 is the floral or the Ipod if you can do something cheaper. That only leaves 1500 for food and drinks.

Wow, I'm gone for a few days and I had to search 6 pages to find the BEO! Crazy. Anyway, 26K does seem pretty steap. But I agree that there are things that shoudn't be cut if possible like characters or the MK shoot. It's something special that only Disney can give. Personally we plan on keeping the budget down with a hosted bar- wine and beer only, few appetizers, and very little floral/decorations. I definitely agree about listing what's important, kinda important and you can do without (hello confetti cannons).

Personally I know food is important to me, the photos, the extras that only Disney provides (MK shoot, etc...) and low on the list is transportation, linens, and floral. But that's me. I say, definitely think it over, and then cut what's on the bottom. It sounds like the WP, MK shoot and characters are up there for you. I know money is very personal, but to me, I'd rather do something I want, rather than save money and regret it. You only get married once right (hopefully...) and if there is something you really want, are you going to look back and say I wish I had saved that $1000, or look back and wish you did something. I know in this economy money is important, but it is just money, and this is your wedding. You should be reasonable but you should still have your dream day.

I live in a colder climate than Florida. So here, in March, almost everything is dead or dormant.

Mandy, I really would think long and hard about how much you want to cut out. You have planned one of the most unique weddings. The location is breathtaking and you and Eric have spent so much time crafting a wonderful, personal event. As you said the other day, this is the only wedding you two will have. The cake, the linens, the flowers, the car.... all of these things are things you have poured your heart and soul into selecting. I know you want to be practical, but right now you have such a special and memorable event planned that seems to incorporate all the things that you and Eric love the most. Be very careful to make sure that you aren't cutting out the touches that you'll look back on and regret not having. I think your wedding is one of the most anticipated in the history of the DisBoards. What you have planned certainly is epic in the same way that Lurkyloo, Caryn22, Janet2K (where the heck has she been anyway? I miss her advice about working with DFTW). I would hate for you to have regrets because you had to cut out so much after putting so much effort in. I know these decisions have to be hard for you, and I would hate to be in your shoes, so I guess my best advice is, make sure you have EVERYTHING you really want. And have faith that you will be provided with what you need to make your dreams a reality.

I agree she should have the wedding of her dreams (since her first one obviously wasn't what she wanted).

That being said, if there is a way to cut/change things and still get the overall feel she should do so. I highly doubt that putting a animal pint ribbon on the cake instead of painting zebra stripes will cause regret (especially if it saves a bunch of money).

The same things go for linens and dare I even say the car and flowers. Is it really worth $900 to ride around in a pink car for a few minutes? Heck, if she gets ride of the car, there's the money for a photo shoot.

As for the flowers, if you NEED the carnations, then cut down on the amount. Or see if they can do the same look with a different flower if you just like the flower balls.

Does Eric insist on both Mickey and Minnie? I think just Mickey would still add that special touch and not be as expensive.

While a having a "dream wedding" is a nice thought, it is crazy to spend a ton (unless you won't struggle with the expense). It is ONE day. The MARRIAGE is what is important and if you go over budget for the wedding, it can cause issues (since one of the big reasons for divorce is over money).

To us it's a bargain. Sure we could have spent around $10k-$15k here at home and had 100-150 people...but it's really not what we wanted. We love that our wedding will be intimate. We won't spend the entire reception walking around table to table greeting everyone, we will be able to just spend time with them.

I wasn't talking about your budget, I was talking about the 26,000 BEO budget.

What you have planned certainly is epic in the same way that Lurkyloo, Caryn22, Janet2K

coughcough!

I think mine was pretty EPIC and I only spent about $4k including the cruise!!:rotfl::lmao:

I totally disagree with the "have this wedding and costs be damned" thinking. Pretty sure Mandy knows that too. She is reasonable enough to know that she can make it special and unique without going down in history or debt.
:magnify:

She has the BEO and she will cut it down to what she can live with and in the end, it really only is one day..I love my wedding but I live for my marriage.
