Well, we were pretty limited in our choices for Port Adventures with the little one in tow! But we have decided on these two, and hoping that we can get them since there's really nothing else for us if not:
Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman
Cozumel Highlights And Maya Ruins (this is the only one that seems to be doable with DD, as it's not too long and stroller-friendly)
Costa Maya we'll probably just play it by ear and explore a little on our own. DH is determined to get Montezuma's Revenge and just wants some real Mexican food and a cerveza or two.
Pre/post cruise plans ... well, we live an hour from Galveston, so our plans are pretty dull there! lol
I've never done the FE thing, obviously. I'm hesitant to commit this far out, don't want to bite off more than I can chew! But will definitely think about it because it does sound cute.![]()
Hi, My name is Jill and DH is Danny.
I used to live in LaPorte, about 40 min from Galveston. I grew up going to Galveston all the time. I am in Fort Worth now.
I used to own a dive shop in Pasadena and I took lots of groups of divers to Cozumel. In other words I have been there many many times. The food is safe to eat just best to stay away from fresh veggies like lettuce around Costa Maya. the rule is if you can't cook it or peel it don't eat it. The water on Cozumel and the Port of Costa Maya is safe to drink. I have only had Montezuma's revenge one time and I am sure it was because of the fresh veggies not being washed properly.. or washed in unsafe water.
I have been to the ruins in Cozumel but either the Taxi driver took me to his grandma's house with a small stone in the yard and called it a ruin or that was a ruin and it was surely ruined. I am afraid to book them again for fear of it just not being worth it. I have seen them on the Yucatan. The ones at Tulum are wonderful.
Speaking of shore excursions and the baby. You do know you can book the baby for the Flounder's Reef nursery if you and DH want to do a shore excursion together at one of the ports. I do hear that you need to book Flounder's Reef early especially on shore days.
We are also planning to just hang around the port area in Costa Maya. Hopefully find some good food as well.
Tell your DH I'm with him on the cervezas and while on Grand Cayman he must try a Caybrew. It is the local beer made on the island is it is very good. I have also been to Grand Cayman a few times and we always look forward to an ice cold Caybrew. Also a must try is the rum cakes. If you walk through town you will see a couple shops, Blackbeards and Tortola that both specialize in rum cakes. They are so good! The rum fudge is also a must try. Both of these shops also make rum. I prefer the Blackbeards rum. It comes in different flavors.
ohh I could keep going for a while but I know you don't want me writing a book on here...lol I am looking forward to meeting everyone. ohh and if nothing else ... try to put the baby on the FE list. She will get tons of surprises.
