22 Sept 2012. First Sailing Out Of Galveston, TX

Well, we were pretty limited in our choices for Port Adventures with the little one in tow! But we have decided on these two, and hoping that we can get them since there's really nothing else for us if not:

Seven Mile Beach in Grand Cayman

Cozumel Highlights And Maya Ruins (this is the only one that seems to be doable with DD, as it's not too long and stroller-friendly)

Costa Maya we'll probably just play it by ear and explore a little on our own. DH is determined to get Montezuma's Revenge and just wants some real Mexican food and a cerveza or two. ;)

Pre/post cruise plans ... well, we live an hour from Galveston, so our plans are pretty dull there! lol

I've never done the FE thing, obviously. I'm hesitant to commit this far out, don't want to bite off more than I can chew! But will definitely think about it because it does sound cute. :)

Hi, My name is Jill and DH is Danny.

I used to live in LaPorte, about 40 min from Galveston. I grew up going to Galveston all the time. I am in Fort Worth now.

I used to own a dive shop in Pasadena and I took lots of groups of divers to Cozumel. In other words I have been there many many times. The food is safe to eat just best to stay away from fresh veggies like lettuce around Costa Maya. the rule is if you can't cook it or peel it don't eat it. The water on Cozumel and the Port of Costa Maya is safe to drink. I have only had Montezuma's revenge one time and I am sure it was because of the fresh veggies not being washed properly.. or washed in unsafe water.

I have been to the ruins in Cozumel but either the Taxi driver took me to his grandma's house with a small stone in the yard and called it a ruin or that was a ruin and it was surely ruined. I am afraid to book them again for fear of it just not being worth it. I have seen them on the Yucatan. The ones at Tulum are wonderful.

Speaking of shore excursions and the baby. You do know you can book the baby for the Flounder's Reef nursery if you and DH want to do a shore excursion together at one of the ports. I do hear that you need to book Flounder's Reef early especially on shore days.

We are also planning to just hang around the port area in Costa Maya. Hopefully find some good food as well.

Tell your DH I'm with him on the cervezas and while on Grand Cayman he must try a Caybrew. It is the local beer made on the island is it is very good. I have also been to Grand Cayman a few times and we always look forward to an ice cold Caybrew. Also a must try is the rum cakes. If you walk through town you will see a couple shops, Blackbeards and Tortola that both specialize in rum cakes. They are so good! The rum fudge is also a must try. Both of these shops also make rum. I prefer the Blackbeards rum. It comes in different flavors.

ohh I could keep going for a while but I know you don't want me writing a book on here...lol I am looking forward to meeting everyone. ohh and if nothing else ... try to put the baby on the FE list. She will get tons of surprises.

Spring is finally on it's way to Anchorage! We're getting temps in the 50s nowadays and all of the snow is finally gone!

We lived in The Woodlands for four years before moving up here. We enjoyed our time in Texas, but we can't beat the view out our window (mountains) and the near 20 hours of sunlight (coming later in the summer).

Okay..my brain is fried, so I'm heading off to bed. Catch y'all later!

It is beautiful there with all the mountains and snow.. but this Texas girl wouldn't be able to take the cold weather. I am bet you are ready for some nice warm beach weather... We had a warm winter this year. The weather here has been perfect lately.

Are you already starting to make piles of things to pack for the cruise? I sorta am. We are headed to Fiji in a 3 weeks for 3 weeks so I am busy collecting what I need for that trip. When I get home I will just transfer some of the things to my new piles of things for the cruise. I also have a couple drawers that I keep cruise stuff in like pirate costumes etc... Are ya'll bringing pirate costumes for the Pirates in the Caribbean Party?

Purchased our airfare today...i guess we should pay off the cruise because there's no backing out now!

Awsome... so glad to hear you won't be backing out!... We are also going for sure.

I am hoping they will come out with some good rates before we go. I have a few people that will book if the cost comes down.

I got called out of town for business so I haven't been on the last couple days. I will try to check in more.

I am so excited about the trip ... just can't wait!

Hi everyone ! I just made our reservations for this cruise today. Dh and i are really excited to be going. We live in Baton Rouge and I just couldn't let the Magic be so close and not go sailing with her.

Has anyone started a fe kist yet? Is anyone interested in participated?

Did some Internet exploring tonight and it seems like there are many places to stay. And the port situation seems easy to navigate.

Welcome to the cruise lsutigger2!!! I don't believe anyone has started a FE list yet, but right now it's hard to keep our cruise threads separate (we're hopping over to the Dream when we get iff this cruise). We're interested in the FE! We love this great cruise tradition!

I am soooo ready for this cruise and it's still 3 months away!

Would anyone object to the creation of a cruise roll call list? It is simplya complete list of the first names, disboards name, stateroom numbers, etc of everyone on the cruise? This would a separate list from the FE; however, it ould have a column indicating those participating in te FE. What do you think?

I am all for a roll call list. And have decided to play along if y'all decide to do the FE thing. :)

Just made the second-to-last payment for the cruise and am sitting here in my office bouncing in my chair, I'm so excited!

Welcome to the group. I am originally from the Houston, Galveston area so if I can help answer any questions about the area let me know. I am Jill and DH is Danny, We now live in Fort Worth.

I was trying to start an FE list but we are headed to Fiji tomorrow and won't be back until the end of June so if anyone else wants to handle it at least for now, please let me know.

I think a roll call list would be great. I plan on being active with the Dis board but I will be out of the country until July 23. I will try to check in when I can but we will be on a small island in FIJI.

We are so excited about our first Disney cruise!! :cheer2: We (DH, DS-age 3 turning 4 on the cruise, and DS-age 2) can't wait!! Also joining us will be my sister and her husband (they will be celebrating their honeymoon:love:) and friends of ours with their 4 year old.

I'm new to all of this, so please clue me in!

We are from Katy and have lived around Houston most of our lives.

Debra

Welcome to the cruise!! We're super excited that you'll be joining us. If you have any questions just ask away!

Here is the roll call list. I will continue to update it as I am given info. Feel free to PM me or post info!

Okay...I've created a roll call/FE list, but i need to make adjustments to it on the computer (created it on the ipad) before i can post the link. This can also serve as the FE list if you'd like...just let me know.

On the plus side, we paid off the cruise today!!! Now it's time to check in and book excursions.

Another disboards tradition for cruising is having customized lanyards printed for all disboarders and their families/friends cruising with them. It's really cool to walk around the ship wearing specialized lanyards, and they make for great conversation starters!

*My husband and I are back to back cruising (western caribbean followed by Dream Bahamas), and we thought it would be awesome to have lanyards for the cruises. We are being quoted $350-395 for 250 lanyards and badge holders. I was thinking that it would be cheaper to combine the two lanyard orders, having the lanyard read "Magical Dream Cruise 2012" and have seperate badges for the cruises. There are currently 65 people on both cruise meet threads. I think 250 lanyards should be plenty with over 2 months to go until the cruise. I might be able to get only 100-200 if needed. If we were to go through with this, would anyone be willing to donate to the lanyards fund? If you and your family are willing to do so, please PM me. I really hate asking for the possibility of donations, and if it were only $100 or so, it wouldn't be an issue, but $350-400 is a lot.*

We are hoping to go through lanyardslab as the owner, Rick, is also owner of **************, the disney podcast.*

Any thoughts or ideas?! Thanks!

Thanks for setting this up! (And ooh, we're learning IRL names haha)

I am Ashley, DH is Jason and DD is Elena. We're in 7126. :)
