Josh may have been on probation or parole and wasn't allowed to leave the state/county. That may be why he wasn't along on vacation with them.

That would make sense, and I don't remember exactly what happened, but I do remember it seems as thought she was just mad at him, and told him that she couldn't trust him and that was why he couldn't go. I can state with certainty that the reason Laurie gave on the show(and who knows, it could have been edited for effect) was not anything to do with probabtion and him not being able to go anywhere, you could tell he was really heartbroken about it. And I am not excusing Josh's action in any way, I just think that some of his problems may be a result of Laurie's parenting. I have hear some terrible things about her, but they could be untrue also. I just really don't like her, she seems in it for what she can et out of it.

Hmmmm....I think she is envious.

I know Don isn't shown that much but he seems like a nice enough guy. I think it's odd how she didn't invite him on the vacation with the kids. First of all, he's her husband, why would he need an invitation to be part of the family? Frankly, I think she likes keeping them apart because she wants to be the most important thing in their lives.

Do you remember last season when she bought a car for her daughter, showed up at the house with it and then told her she would need to make the payments on it? Who does that?

She blames Jeana for the extra house she owns but the point of that house was to get something smaller and sell the other house. In the end, she couldn't "downgrade" and kept both. She acted like that house wasn't good enough for her.

All her self-worth is tied up in her financial worth. I wonder how business is for her now.

I feel sorry for the people who marry her kids. Talk about a whacked out mother in law.

It doesn't sound like Jeana and Matt are getting a divorce anytime soon though. Right now, they are separated but still sharing a house together.

I think Vicki is all about Vicki. She also has unrealistic expectations for her kids and husband to live up to. And she is not a forgiving person either. I see her being more jealous of Tamra and Simon's "healthy" relationship than Jeana and Matt's failing one. Vicki and Donn obviously don't communicate and that is #1 priority in a marriage. And from what we have seen, Vicki is putting all the blame on Donn for their marriage faltering. Until she is able to take some of the blame and tries to fix her part, their marriage is doomed.

As I'm watching the reruns today, I don't understand why Vicky is so mad at Jeana about Vicky's "smaller" house. She said that she partly blames Jeana for her "making her buy the house" because she didn't have Vicky's "best interest in mind". How can someone make you buy a house? Vicky was the one who wanted to downsize, then changed her mind!

Ahh..we love Huntington Beach. We go there every weekend riding our bikes!!! We have only lived here 6 months....moving from MA to CA!!! I am about 2 miles from Fashion Island....if you are familiar with that side of Newport Beach....I believe it is called East Bluffs!!!

The last episode that aired was about Vicki taking Tamra and her family to Lake Havasu for July 4th. Jeanna was supposed to go with them, but decided to stay at a hotel because she brought, I can't remember his name, but the guy that was living in Vicki's house that wouldn't pay rent, with her. Vicki was beside herself. Jeanna and the guy whose name I can't recall finally left where they were having lunch and they showed the rest of them having fun on a pontoon boat. Vicki was also mad that Tamra and Simon are so lovey dovey all the time.

Gretchen went to see her family for the 4th because Jeff's kids came in and could do hospital duty for her while she frolicked with her family on the lake.

Quinn faded into oblivion. Tammy left because her DD was having a hard time dealing with her father's death, IIRC.

I can't believe Lynne was apologizing to Raquel because she didn't tan twice! What a spoiled brat. She had a big ole hissy fit and her mom was feeling bad. I can not also believe that she let her 15 year old wear that short dress to the party. Her boyfriend was right in his comment about her looking like a stripper.

Ummmm.....I don't think Jo can sing! The 1st time I heard her a couple of seasons ago I cringed.

The last scenes of the episode when they were eating were great. I can understand why Tamra was shocked she was out of town while Jeff was in the hospital. But then I can also understand why Gretchen would need some time away, but to go on vacation....I'm not sure on that.

I have never been in that position....and hope that I never am....but I can understand Gretchen needing a "night out" or "spa day" or something....but to go on vacation while he is in ICU? I dont know....just seems sort of cold. I dont think that I could do that if it were my husband. BUt like I said, I have never been in that situation. But I do know that whatever I did....it certainly wouldnt be done on a reality tv show for the world to watch!

One thing is, the show made it look like Gretchen was away for ages and ages...it was probably on a long weekend or a couple of days + they were only in Arizona, right? It wasn't like Gretchen went away to Bora-Bora or New Zealand or something. Bravo edits their hours and HOURS of footage to make people look worse/better than they are. This show isn't *really* reality TV, it's a heavily-edited form of entertainment.

I think Gretchen's a sweet girl who loves her fiance & needed some respite. I probably wouldn't have done it, but then again I didn't have to face my fiance/spouse dying of cancer when I was in my mid-20s.

Regarding Gretchen and the 4th of July weekend with her folks.. She said that Jeff's kids were in town from Michigan and with him at the hospital. I know that if I were one of Jeff's kids, I would probably prefer to have my own time with my Dad rather than have to interact with his new girlfriend who probably isn't much older than they are.

Remember the animosity between her and his daughter over buying the daughter a car? Gretchen told her "get a job" the daughter replied, "I'll get a job when you get a job" which lead to the discussion about Gretchen taking care of Jeff 24-7. While I agree that the point is valid, the message does not need to be coming from Dad's girlfriend but rather from Dad himself.

Also the phone call that Gretchen made to the one child seemed forced. She ended the call with "I love you" but it didn't sound as if there was much warmth coming from the other end.

I think it is wise of Gretchen to give Jeff's kids their own time with their Dad.
