How did that work? Did they reallocate the points elsewhere? No Standard was available when it opened. They reclassified some of the rooms as standard after members had complained with their view.

I think as all the trees grow larger around BLT there needs to be slightly more resort view rooms and slightly less TPV rooms but they would have to make all the TPV rooms even more at that rate.Yes, they did but it wasn’t too bad since it was a small ratio of rooms that needed to be changed.
It took a few years after BLT opened. Before 2011/2012 there were rooms in Theme Park View below the monorail/skybridge level. Owners were not happy and it wasn’t really a shock that people did not want to take low floors after spending 50% more points than standard. Now TPV starts at Floor 4. Lower than that and the view is obstructed with trees, poles and whatnot included the parking lot being a much larger portion in your field of view than higher floors.
It seems they learned a lesson and applied it to PVB1, then forgot it for PVB2.
PVB1 longhouses do not have TPV category. Instead they were named Lake View and not such a drastic upcharge in points as TPV at VGF or BLT. That way guests aren’t surprised/upset at the 33% shot of getting 1st floor. You basically have to accept that possibility, but they are all a lovely view. The problem at BLT was paying the highest tier of points and then possibly ending up with a view popularly seen as even worse than the mid-tier.
Not sure why they turned around and added the PVB Tower with TPV rooms on 1st floor?
They need to get rid of the garden view category at bwv, that is a joke, im surprised they get away with that. Unless there are better garden views that I didnt get
Yes I prefer the tennis court and my points backPool/garden was simply a way to distinguish against SV which was more parking lot/ tennis courts, etc.
That’s the problem with view names…we all have different ideas of what should count!
I think @Genie+ did a good job explaining it.How did that work? Did they reallocate the points elsewhere?
Long before my time, but I believe originally the rooms were all going to have the same price - whether they were Pool/Garden or Theme Park or Garbage Dumpster...They need to get rid of the garden view category at bwv, that is a joke, im surprised they get away with that. It should be theme park or bust lolLong before my time, but I believe originally the rooms were all going to have the same price - whether they were Pool/Garden or Theme Park or Garbage Dumpster...
Owners complained, so they added the "resort view" which offered rooms at per point costs generally in line with The Disney Vacation Club (now known as OKW) as a way to placate them... That's my understanding anyways... long before my first DVC purchase.
Yeah... that's something DVC clearly learned at some point... It is actually amazing to me how long they were resistant to charging more for view types....It should be theme park or bust lol![]()
I do like the option for tpv, like I wish vgc could offer that because I really do want to stay in one and never have been able to.Yeah... that's something DVC clearly learned at some point... It is actually amazing to me how long they were resistant to charging more for view types....
OKW, BRV, BCV all don't have them, and given the quirkiness of BWV essentially they have a "saver" and "standard" rate...
Now we have some uncharge views that are quite misleading to me... and the view type thing has become a total money grab in my view.... We (grudgingly) have our first stay booked next year for one night in a premium view type... I am not thrilled....
and for us with kids moving is a no go.... it's either 1 night stays or long stays.... I have no interest in split stays and having to pack up the circus! The offer to move is not a good solution for either party losing a whole day and packing everything up. I just dont think its fair that some people booking like the value studios at akv are going to be lucky and some aren't for the same price
The change from "standard" to "resort" has really been throwing people for a loop! Resort doesn't necessarily mean you see the actual resort at places like PVB. Those are preferred views in the tower! That’s the problem with view names…we all have different ideas of what should count!
My next year reservations are making me nervous right nowand for us with kids moving is a no go.... it's either 1 night stays or long stays.... I have no interest in split stays and having to pack up the circus!
The vgf view types and rooms throw me off big time with their "resort studio" confuzzling me with "resort view" og. Im so afraid im going to screw that up because im trying to piece something together there. It should say BPK RESORT VIEW or something more to differentiate, dyslexia is a real thing lolThe change from "standard" to "resort" has really been throwing people for a loop! Resort doesn't necessarily mean you see the actual resort at places like PVB. Those are preferred views in the tower!![]()
They need to just stick with something, standard view makes more sense to me than resort view. I suppose resort view sounds prettierEven "preferred" view? Why wasn't pool/garden at BWV renamed preferred while leaving "boardwalk view" an option like "theme park view" at other resorts?
Disney claimed the change was to streamline things, but in traditional Disney fashion it caused more confusion.![]()
It is def on the to do list I haven't stayed there yet, vgf just has some restaurants that are of interest to me that I need to try. I really hope they bring back the tea room, would love to experience thatIdk.... OKW is nice and quiet and has very big rooms... You could do a lot worse! But then again, we come in with a car....
