(2026 Brand Annoucement Wednesday 10pm ET on FS1) FIFA WC host cities in NA thread (mascot question as well)

I wonder how many stadiums chosen will have different names in 2026. I think Hard Rock in Miami Gardens is on its 8th name since it opened.

I’m happy, we are 6 miles from the NJ/NY arena, 10 minutes. My boys will be happy.
The whole Northeast will have events happening for a month. Our USMNT should all be in their prime and be in the top 10 teams in the world permanently.

To people who think their cities should have been chosen but weren’t. If FIFA could just host the WC in Europe permanently in the UK, Spain, Italy, France, or Germany they would. Those countries have the best soccer stadiums in the world and the best players already play in those countries’ leagues. If there was not a rotating host clause and the USA was not an economic powerhouse, we would not ever be selected to host (nor would any African, poor South American, or Middle East county ever get a shot to host). The FIFA President is the former UEFA (European confederation) president and UEFA remains the power and economic backbone of FIFA. My point of this post is just to say to the nay sayers about the 2026 WC is just be happy that our country has this gift and opportunity. The USA is rumored to bid on the 2027/2031 Women’s WC and will probably get it since 99% of the world doesn’t care about it (it’s part of the reason the women’s team has won more than the men). If the men by some miracle win the WC in 2022 or 2026 most in Europe will actually say we are undeserving since it’s not our number 1 sport.

As far as I'm concerned, it may as well have been in UK, Spain, Italy, France, or Germany. The odds of me attending a match are only slightly better in the US. Now, what was the goal when selecting cities? Yes, they should have good stadiums. BUT, I think a focus should also have been giving many different areas the opportunity for games.

Personally I think the NE is TOO well represented. Same with Texas, and dare I say it, NW. Don't get me wrong, I'll still watch and root for the MNT. But coming from someone who wants to "spread" soccer and get more people interested in the game, you're awfully apologetic for their selections.

They want the travel for players reduced. Each stadium is getting at least 6 games. I don’t agree with many things FIFA does but I understand their logic. In reality the only confederation FIFA cares about is UEFA because that is where the money (outside of Brazil/Argentina) is. The main reason FIFA approved this:

I don't care what corporate name they put on the stadium...myself and a bunch of others still call it by its original name...Joe Robbie Stadium.

Also if the USA won the bid alone, the 5 Canada/Mexico cities would have been more American midwestern cities.
