2021 Vacations?

Right now I have a gazillion tabs open with rentals in Watercolor/Seaside Florida. Considering a beach vacation. Just prior to that was looking at Grand Canyon/Utah. But we have done some NPs lately and never a true beach vacation.

WDW is not off the table, but probably the only month we can vacation with DD19 is May, and I'm just on the fence whether it will be a good enough experience. We really wanted to do AKL next and it's not open.

Definitely has to be somewhere SW flies, we have so many points.

We are scheduled to sail on the Fantasy for Christmas week next year. I would like to do another trip earlier in the year and did some cost estimates for WDW, but I'm not sure if that's really where I want to go. It's so hard to know what the covid situation is going to be in 5-6 months and that is a big factor in deciding where I want to go.

I work for a school so vacations are around those weeks. My state has kept the same travel restrictions since we reopened in late June so everything is up in the air.

February vacation (I hope) is just within the state to avoid worrying about travel restrictions. We have a condo booked in the mountains.

April, I'm tentatively planning Bar Harbor Maine but not booking yet. Was hoping to venture outside the New England bubble but don't think vaccines will be far enough along.

Summer I have a hotel booked for WDW but that's dependent on a lot of things, particularly travel restrictions being lessened.

Nothing planned. My plan years ago was to go to WDW for the 50th and my husband's 50th. He didn't want to go, so it was supposed to be postponed until 2022. Now I am not sure when we will go. I am hoping the local Jellystone campground reopens. I would love to do a family vacation there. Other than that, just praying the dance studio can reopen.

I’ve heard that many colleges are canceling their spring breaks so students cannot travel this year. If true, this may open up the possibility of a beach destination for us in March.

I have no desire to be at a beach with a bunch or drunk college students. Imagine how the virus would spread?! 😳.

anyway, we are considering a week in the southeast specifically Savannah/Charleston. Would love to hear recommendations for this area.

We are booked for two weeks - 8 nights in Disney and 6 nights at Disney Vero Beach.

We are also booked for one week in the Fall.

We plan on doing something for my birthday late May - if not, something in the summer.

Even though we hope that things will slowly get back to some sort of "normal", we don't plan for much if anything and expect to just get away to relax/change of scenery/warm weather, etc.

I have a big trip to Africa planned for February 2022 (postponed from 2021) and I have worries that one may even be affected, so sadly not planning anything in 2021 right now. :(
I also had a big trip to Africa (Tanzania) booked for this past August. Don't think I'll have the PTO available to do it this year (started a new job), so looks like that will be 2022.

For this year I'm planning northern California, central-ish NY (Adirondacks and Finger Lakes areas), maybe a beach weekend somewhere, and WDW in October for the 50th!
I get built-in 3 day weekends in my schedule about once a month (followed by dreadful one day weekends haha), so I like to take advantage of short trips then. So maybe a few other short local trips.

I have no idea what we are doing. Honestly I do not even want to go on vacation really but I am sure we will end up doing something.

DH and I are taking my cousin (43) for her first Disney trip in February!! And then we have the family beach trip planned for late July...(we also visited Disney this past Oct and December - both trips were fabulous!!)

DH and I also have Las Vegas planned in early May, but we are open to cancelling that if need be...I have a free room at Caesars and free flights using pts on SW so I wouldn't lose any money up front - and I guess I'd be "saving" the food and play money!

We have postponed the trip to the Bahamas that was cancelled from last October - we are not comfortable leaving the country yet..

I doubt that canceling spring break is going to have much of an impact on college kids.

My DD's university replaced their spring break with several weeks of Tue/Wed days off. Calling them "mental health breaks".
DD said many are planning long weekend or vacations....with online classes, it's fairly easy for the students to still travel.

We are planning a 10-day trip to Eleuthera in July. It's nice to be looking at trips again!

We've been booked for our first trip to Universal for a year, scheduled for the first week of March. At this point I think it's not going to happen (and had a little cry about it yesterday). We're in NY so even if we go, as things stand now, we'd have to test out of being in quarantine four days after returning and that's three more days of the kids being out of school - I just don't think we can afford to have them out for a week and a half.

Legoland is supposed to open this summer here so hopefully we can do that if we don't do the Universal trip as planned. Then we'll reschedule Universal for the summer or maybe the fall and possibly add in a Disney trip. We're not sure we'll take the kids out of school once they're in 6th grade (we'll be sending them to a new, public, school. They go to small private now so I think it will be a big change) so we want to get at least one more trip in during school while we are still comfortable taking them out for a week.

I have my two standard WDW trips scheduled for 10 days each in May and October. No particular changes other than those imposed by Disney's current lack of FP and ADR at 180 days. That may change as we get closer to these dates. Hopefully the DDP will return as well.

Nothing planned yet - we have some Sheraton points that we need to use this year, so we're thinking of doing some sort of skiing trip this winter, but nothing is set yet. Worst case scenario, we might just drive to Myrtle Beach for a long weekend during spring break. No idea for the summer yet.

We have a European river cruise scheduled in April. Moved from last March.

I'm really wanting to schedule our next river cruise, but the unknowns have me waiting as I watch all the good deal disappear :crazy2:

Definitely has to be somewhere SW flies, we have so many points.

That's us, too....

My plan years ago was to go to WDW for the 50th and my husband's 50th.

We had initially thought that we'd be going this fall/winter prior to Christmas 2021 as it's my husbands 50th this fall as well, but frankly - we are hesitant as we don't want to go without being able to park hop when we want and we don't want to fool with needing a reservation for a park, so we are in watch & wait mode.

We are planning a 10-day trip to Eleuthera in July

We were thinking about heading back to the Abacos, with Eleuthra as a possibility as well. Do you have any recommendations? Mind if I ask, what carrier do you use? You know how it can be going down there.... Or do you guys take your boat? We've been using a combo of Bahamas Air, Air Unlimited & Cherokee - all into March Harbour, not Treasure, over the past 15 years. Our destination was always Guana Cay :worried:, but now w/ our house sold and with limited inventory after the hurricane I think we might hit Green Turtle or Elbow if we go.

For the more immediate future, we are considering a few nights at Universal in early Feb only because we've got AP's that were extended to May, the AP hotel rates are really good, and we have points to burn on Southwest. It's looking like we might have a bit of business in Ft. Myers so seriously considering tacking on 2 nights after that. If only for a bit of sunshine and humidity. With my luck it will rain and be 55 degrees!

We have a Thanksgiving WDW trip scheduled and a March WDW trip that we’re probably moving to June. We had a big trip in California planned for last June, rescheduled it to June 2021, and now we’re canceling it. Hopefully we can do that trip in 2022! I would like to do a couple long weekends at NPs, too.

Two years ago we decided that we'd go to Hawaii summer of 21. Then switched to California to visit our favorite places. Our teens have since informed us that they want to attend summer camp this year. Since they are aging out of Girl Scout camp (high school options are limited!) we've decided that they can do summer camp. Since high school marching band/guard camp starts in July any family trip will most likely be without our girls.

Of course, I might just take a mommy only trip.

The only trip planned so far in March 2021 to WDW.

We had an Egypt river cruise booked for Feb.....of course, canceled. Hoping to rebook at some point, but we are getting older, so not sure.

Just booked 5 nights at DLR for December.....here's hoping! Taking DGS (he will be 4)
