2017 Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend

Thanks. This is good to know. I'm wondering if pricing things out myself will be cheaper. Is it that difficult to get registered for the 10K if I'm online right before it goes live/

I registered myself and booked at Pop for the Dark Side in April. Then much later, my daughter decided to join me so I bought a bib from Jim with hotel (no park tix needed) The hotel price was the exact same. I think Jim's bib price was like $15 more, which I was very willing to pay since registration was already closed.

Hi I'm from the UK and very keen to get registered for the Glass Slipper Challenge as soon as humanly possible. I saw a post about someone who is already offering bibs and a package (which is what I would need) Jim Stone I think they said. Is he a registered travel partner or tour operator? I wondered where I could get the details. Many thanks in advance!

Definitely price things out for yourself first - but I can say with 99% confidence that the 10K WILL go first. There are something like 12,000 spots for the 10K, but of those spots, 7,000 or so go to Glass Slipper Challenge runners. So there's really like 5,000 dedicated 10K bibs available. It's absolutely possible to get yourself in without travel provider, but you MUST be ready at noon/just before noon, like you said, :) I would highly recommend getting your Active.com account set up before registration day and just get your game face on!

Yes, he is from Acclaim Travel. http://patstonetravel.com/

Thank you for the information I really appreciate it and have sent him an email! Just out of interest has anyone ever used Magical Miles travel provider?

This registration day is one I'm going to keep my eye on because 1) my family and I may being doing this race weekend in 2018 and 2) I want to see if this trend of races not selling out the day continues. Its a given the 5K and 10K will sell out quickly as usual, however the half and GSC are ones I'm curious to see if they sell out or not the first day open. DDD, Dopey, WDW half and a few others that were expected to sell out within hours or opening day, were still available for a significant time period.

I think princess will still sell out rather quickly. Part of me hopes it doesn't so Disney can really start getting the cost vs value message. I now just kind of worry that they'll pull back on the west coast races which I like so much more than the Orlando ones.

Now I'm pondering if it's just better to book the Travel Agent Glass Slipper vs the Passholder Registration. :faint:

This race seems like an awful amount of planning.

I think Princess and Wine & Dine are the most popular weekends runDisney has - expecting a quick sellout for all events. :confused3

I've always though Marathon weekend was one of the most popular ones, but I haven't really paid attention to other race weekends.

I did research a little and the order of sell out for last year's Princess registration day was - GSC, 10K, Half, 5K, and Kids.

Active.com crashed or something last year during Princess registration. It was nuts.

Yup - I was on an iPad trying to register and it was the most stressful registration I've done (I had to register my mom and myself). I want to say the 10K sold out within 15 minutes, and the Challenge shortly there after. Then the 5K and the Half Marathon was gone and hour or so after registration opened.

Just curious, are there options for purchasing bibs through travel agents WITHOUT booking a room? and/or park pass?

Started looking at info on this race and see it is geared towards women. Do many men run in it? It looks like they dont even offer mens apparel at the expo.
All feedback would be appreciated!

Nope, not anymore. Unless they have leftover bibs closer to the race weekend and are desperate to unload them.

Yes, men do run it. But it is a "women-focused" event so like you said, not much merch for men and men are not allowed in corrals A and (I think) B. Men are generally outnumbered 3 or 4:1.

Having said that, my brother did the PHM with me in 2011 and we had a blast. :)

I am guessing seeing the cost from acclaim travel that registration cost will be in the $200.00 range for PHM ? I also agree with previous post that I hope the races don't sell out quickly thus sending a slight message to Disney that cost are getting too high for races. Starting the rethink PHM 2017 as it just gets keeping more expensive. I figured for DH and I to do the race, travel, hotel, park tickets, food etc. we could be talking 2500.00 for 4 nights 5 days! Decisions decisions :scared:

Honestly, if you need a room and tickets anyway, there's just NO reason to torture yourself with normal (or AP) registration. If I were staying on cash instead of points I would go with Acclaim, 100%. (specifically Acclaim b/c I've used him before, not for any other reason)

Is it too ambitious to say that I will be able to complete the Glads Slipper challenge for 2017 if I currently do not run at all but can comfortably walk about. 17 min mile. I am extremely overweight but am making a very dedicated effort to reduce my weight and increase my physical fitness.

I'm not sure any of us can answer that for you. Galloway's training plan on runDisney.com starts in October, so if you commit to the plan and follow it that's enough time to get you there distance-wise. But the big concerns as a new runner would be injury prevention - you don't want to do too much too soon, make sure you get fitted for proper running shoes, etc. - and, I think, risk of mental burnout with having to put all of those miles in.

Is there a reason why you want to do GSC and not the 5K, or the 10K/half alone? As a newer runner it may be less overwhelming to start with a singular race instead of the challenge (which isn't going anywhere).

I agree with ariel484 and the add the following. When I did my first princess half marathon I had done no running (the after Christmas sales don't count!) and took on training with a vengeance. DH and I got a running coach and he made us a training plan to get us over the finish line. Did I win my age category or break any time records? Nope, but did finish up right and still walking! You can totally do a race and even go for the half marathon as a trial run so to speak and then next year maybe try for glass slipper. This would give you plenty of time to see if you like running or walking since you can walk the half marathon too if you can maintain a 16 min. Not trying to keep you from doing the challenge but want to make sure you have all the facts to make the best decision for you ! Best of luck !:flower1:
