2016 packages- big price increase??

I was booking in the family suite as a treat for the kids. Plus we are going with another family of 5 so they wanted to be next to us. But at that price i think i'm going to ask them to get 2 rooms at Pop which will save them around $500 and will save me $2K.

My days aren't flexible because of the family of 5 that we are going with. She is a teacher and can only go during certain times.

Your numbers make much more sense then. Sorry I thought were were comparing standard room at AoA vs standard room at POP.

Yep. Our first two choices were deluxes (AKL and Contemporary) but the prices! Yow! Not until we're a whole lot richer than we are now. :)

We're doing a moderate and honestly, if the beds worked out we'd have done a value. AoA is adorable, but the beds... not going to work for my big guys. Sad, because DD would have loved it. QUOTE]

We normally do POR, but were thinking of doing a Deluxe next year since we will possibly be upgrading to AP in September. Don't think so now...not ready to sell my only child for a stay at the Poly!

I'm probably in the minority here, but after seeing the rooms at the poly last year, which my daughter, husband, and 3 kids stayed in, I was not impressed. It smelled musty and looked very worn down. I couldn't see spending all that money for being there. I guess being on the monorail is a big plus, but I can get to MK just fine from our favorite moderate, POR. The whole family wished they had booked at POR with us and were not impressed either. Housekeeping was hit or miss, mostly miss. Also the new bungalows block a lot of the view. I always wanted to stay at the Poly for years, but now that I've seen it first hand, that's over with. I much prefer our POR and couldn't personally justify the outrageous cost of $670 a nite for the poly, no thanks!

We were planning on staying 9 nights at POR but the price for the whole trip went about $1100 above what I had budgeted based on last year's prices; we are going to have to either cut the trip short or switch to another hotel :( makes me sad because it is going to be my fiancee and his daughter's first trip and I was really looking forward to the royal guest rooms and a nice long stay!

I "feel" like the pricing is higher, but hadn't done the research. But we are planning on staying at Beach Club and there aren't any rooms with a standard view (the cheapest view) available. And this was in the a.m. yesterday when it was supposedly first available for booking. ALL of the Yacht Club (except club level rooms) are showing as unavailable. This is both for our preferred dates in June and then alternate dates in August. Our TA says its because both room classes are "all booked", but I just find that very strange.

I'm new to this whole Disney thing but I have the same issue you are having. I was booking for my April 2016 honeymoon and there were no standard views in either the Yacht or Beach Clubs. However I can easily book a standard view for the Yacht or Beach Clubs a few months away this year. Is everyone suddenly planning a 2016 trip to Disney?? Maybe some rooms will open up when people start cancelling/changing reservations when they see how much the rates have increased

We're staying at the POR. Thanks for reinforcing that as a good choice! :) I was tempted by the Contemporary because the monorail runs right through it. Right through it! Through the hotel! Like, how cool is that?!?!? (Sorry, I maybe a bit obsessed with that. :) ) But the pricing... We may only make it to FL once and we want a longer trip and more bells and whistles more than we want a fancier hotel.

I think you will love POR! We always stay in the Alligator Bayou section, personal preference! We love the winding tropical pathways, little bridges over little creeks, and the secluded tropical feeling. The Mansions are more stately and manicured, but still beautiful! I guess it's what type of environment you want! The boat to downtown Disney is a big plus for us; just hop on and take a leisurely beautiful ride down the river; really lovely and you pass the Mansions, the Treehouses, and a golf course before entering thelake area. There's also YeeHAA Bob for entertainment fo r the entire family! Love the Mill for counter service meals. We don't do the pools, but find the quiet pools to be beautiful and , yes , quiet:)
It's funny you mentioned the Contemporary. I have been wanting to try it, but checked the prices and knew it was too much for us to feel comfortable with. Also we love where we stay and have 3 x's at POR so far. No reason to change. Hope you have a great time:) I dream of the contemporary too with the monorail running thru it too -way cool- but just can't justify it:) Keep on dreaming.

I'm with you. The Poly would be our last choice of deluxe resorts.

We're staying in AB. We needed the preferred room to ensure the 3rd bed which was a necessity rather than a wish but which they would not guarantee for a party of 4 in a regular room. It looks gorgeous and one of my son's wish list items was boat transportation for some piece of the trip.

Disney has raised the prices on everything over the last year and some are quite substantial. They keep this up and they are going to price out a lot of people.:sad2:

So i was thinking about this again. When i look at the package for Aug 2015 and room and tickets for Aug 2016 at AOA the difference is 1,000. That is around a 20% difference. So is it safe to say that the prices will be around the same when the packages come out next year?

For example when i looked today Aug 14th 2015 for 10 days without tickets is $3620.20 and Aug 12th 2016 is $4696.02. That would be a difference of around 20% which seems to be a normal discount for this time of year. Since this is the first time i have actually looked at prices so far away i wasn't used to the full rack rate.

So i think my plan will still be to book AOA for Aug 2016 and save up for the rack rate and then be pleasantly surprised when it comes closer to the trip :)

The price increase is just too much. My 2014 vacation was prices at $2,156 for 7 nights with tickets. This year it's priced at $3,423 for the exact package. I'm sorry but this huge price increase will result in us going somewhere else.

This thread is over a year old. You are describing an increase over 50%. Room and ticket rates have not gone up that much. There is likely another variable in play.
Time of year?
Prior package included a discount or promo?
Different ticket types?
Dining plan?
