2016 NFL Football Season

Today is the big day. The day that we have been waiting for, all Summer. The day that our significant others (husbands, wives, pets, etc...) dread, because it will mean 5 months of undivided attention paid to, not them. It's the 1st day of the new football season. I figured that I would start this thread so that fans can beat their chests for their favorite teams, trash talk to their rivals and flex their football IQ on key games of the week and how each team can defeat the other.

The season kicks off tonight with a rematch of last season's Super Bowl. Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers. The bulk of this week's games will be played on Sunday and the final 2 games will be played in a double-header on Monday. And from there, it is a marathon of twists and turns until 1 team hoists the Lombardi Trophy and goes to Disneyland.

May the best team win.

PS: If you would like to chime in on a certain 2nd string QB's behavior during the National Anthem, I would like to ask that you do it in 1 of 2 ways. Either in Limerick (AA, BB, A) or Haiku (5, 7, 5). I don't want to inflame a fun thread about football with a lot of political "back and forth"ing. So, if it is done in a very creative point, it removes the individual from attack.

Since I will probably take the most abuse here, I'll just get the ball rolling.

"Hello. My name is BDL and I am a Pats fan."

So I fully expect the cheater accusations and the inflate/deflate jokes. But I also expect My Pats to win the Super Bowl this year. We have 4 weeks without Tom "GOAT" Brady, then comes the revenge tour. Hoping that Jimmy G. can at least get us 2-2. 1st hurdle, is the high energy offense and athletic defense of the AZ Cards. Not gonna lie. It will be a tough 1. Not the most confident in a week 1 win. But, "In Bill We Trust." Pats win 23-21 and will have 150+ yds on the ground.

As for tonight, Panthers win, barring an injury to Newton

Not a huge NFL guy, but I like Arizona coming out of NFC and KC coming out of the AFC with the Cardinals winning it all.

I think the Pat's have offensive line problems.

I'd say 2-2 is a fair expectation. It will be interesting to see how Brady fairs when he returns to action.

In any event I'm excited for the return of football though this is the first year in a long time I won't get to see all the games as I recently cancelled DirecTV!

Proud Seahawks fan here. I fully expect for them to be in the playoffs, if not win everything. I just saw the report that Lynch might come back, but I hope not. I'd afraid of a repeat of Alexander's performance.

What a second half in last night's game: Panthers vs. Broncos. It felt strange not to see Peyton Manning in there leading his team. But it looks like the new kid is going to do okay.

We bleed Eagle green over here. Except my boyfriend. He's a Dallas fan. I know.....I know.....it can get ugly. We place bets at the beginning of the season. We crack jokes all year. it can get fugly up in my house at times. But it's all in fun...I think.

That's how you start off a season. A single digit difference and it pretty much came down to the last play of the game. Too bad he shanked it.

You're 100% right. The Broncos were launching at him last night. And the only flag I recall was an offsetting penalty to Newton's intentional grounding.

As for this weekend's games, I already stated that I thought that the Pats would find some way to win Sunday night. But the other game that I want to watch is the Giants/Boys game. You know why? And this is the total fan boy side of me. How could I not root for a QB that was named either after the 1st casualty of the Battle of Hoth or the acronym for a Disney Park.
