2015 Villain’s Sinister Soiree

On Disney's website it says:
Seating will be available at the dessert party, where it will be pre-assigned.

But as noted even those at 'good' tables will most likely be getting up to stand to see the projection show and fireworks. Do not count on sitting after you're done eating your desserts.

Guys lets think logically since our community is the smarter of the Disney fans:

- Generally the party isn't crowded like a regular day so you can get a pretty good view of HalloWishes and the parades to be honest especially the later parade when everyone clears out.

- Pastries are cheap at Disney I got a mummy cupcake and drink and other various Halloween goodies for way less than 69 dollars per person and we share too.

- assigned seats? So what if your seating arrangement sucks?

- no characters??? Really that's the selling point!?

By all means if you want to do this please enjoy. However, remember your party time is very limited - and if you want to make the most of it meeting characters and special events I wouldn't bother again I just don't see ANY benefit of this on a limited party day?

How many people attended last year's VSS? It was fairly limited, let's say 250 per night, right? Even to be generous, let's say they sold 500 per night. So that's 500 happy guests per night, who loved what they got.

vs.

Assuming that they sell 25,000 party tickets per night...that's 24,500 guests who were given absolutely zero opportunity to meet some of the villains. Even if only 5% of those guests were angry enough to complain, the number of happy guests is seriously outweighed by the number of unhappy guests. We heard a lot of reports of people getting money refunded for MNSSHP tickets due them being unhappy about some of the villains being unmeetable. I figured that Disney realized what a mistake they made when MVMCP didn't have an additional add-on event, as had been rumored.

I don't think it was an issue with the quality or satisfaction with people who attended the VSS...I think those guests were overwhelmingly happy with what they got...I think what caused a change was complaints from regular MNSSHP ticket holders.
That's a guess -- as good as any we could make, probably! This wouldn't fit with the popular-on-DIS meme that Disney couldn't care less what masses of guests think, though. A meme I don't subscribe to - it's just bad business.

I think the unhappy guests thing is weighed disproportionately on here. Anecdotes, cranky people being more likely to post/complain, etc., etc.

In any case, I'm glad we experienced VSS last year. :) And I'll check in here to see what reviews of this new party are as well. I hope people love it and have a blast!

Ahhh I don't know whether to book. We are going Nov 1st so likely to be a busy night.
I am mostly wanting it so we don't have to waste a lot of party time waiting for the parade and fireworks but still get a good spot....hmmmm what to do!

You can cancel up to 5 days before the event.

If you've got the spare funds....book, watch the reviews, and if it sounds like it's not worth it, cancel.

If you're on the fence and don't mind prepaying and getting a refund later if you decide to cancel I'd go ahead and book.

If you can stay until the second parade you should have no problem getting a good spot with it starting at 11:15 this year.

Last year my second Soiree night I left the viewing area after the Celebrate the Magic show and walked further down Main Street to get a better view of the fireworks as I thought it was too close watching the night before in the Soiree reserved area. But I only had one person, not a family with little kids and a stroller. But even that late I was able to get a fine spot.

I must have misunderstood myCM I thought I had 5 days from today to cancel lol.

I think that had the VSS been a net ROI for Disney then they would have kept it. But I think the cost of it, which includes refunds to unhappy MNSSHP ticket holders, probably tipped it to the edge of actually ending up unprofitable for Disney. I do think they care about guest satisfaction because unsatisfied guests mean damage to the bottom line, and Disney will protect that at all costs.

Based on how many dessert parties they now offer, I assume these are HUGE money makes for Disney, and have very little cost associated with them. They rope off a few areas of the park and serve some cheap, mass-produced desserts. At MK, the cost must be especially low since no alcohol is served.

Makes sense. I would only add that it often sounds pejorative to me when people say Disney will protect its bottom line at all costs. They are a for-profit business -- this is what they need to do -- maximize profits. If they don't do that, money dries up, and there go your park improvements! ;) Ensuring satisfied guests ensures the money keeps rolling in. That's a good thing! :)

I was going to reply much the same way.

It can still fit the narrative of "caring more about the bottom line", when you look at it in the lens of having to refund a significant (whatever number that is) of party tickets effects their bottom line. Probably a LOT more than the $$ made by the Soiree did. And the word of mouth may have hurt party attendance, too.

Caring about the bottom line = caring about guest satisfaction

In this type of business that's just a fact.

Um....IDK what the current "refinements" have done to the "normal" Tomorrowland Terrace Dessert party.

It used to be (prior to the July upgrades), that you'd snag a table (no assigned seating), eat your fill, and then move to the rail (standing) to watch the fireworks.

I'm not sure if, since the advent of the upgrades to assigned seating, better quality desserts, table cloth and lantern version, if that's still the case. I haven't seen (but haven't really looked) for reviews on the new version. I'll have to hunt some down, now.

Whatever the process is in the new dessert party, I expect to be the process for this one.
We did the tomorrowland dessert party in 2013 and we had an assigned table then. There was a sign on the table with our family name on it. I don't think it's something new to the upgrades.
