2015 DVC Alaska Member Cruise 5/25-5/31/15

First time posting. Dad, me, hubby, DS and Dbil going. We r flying into Seattle the 23rd and planning on taking early Amtrak on 25 th. It says we will get to Vbc by noon. Is this enough time? Thanks for responses

We are on the train the night before on the 24th. I think it leaves a little after 6pm and gets to Vancouver a little after 10pm.

Hey Nunzia, here are the navigators.
Sorry but the Oceaneers club and lab late night activities got cut off by the scanner.

Day 1 - Sunday Sept. 29. 2013

Day 2 - Monday Sept. 30, 2013

Day 3 - Tuesday Oct. 1, 2013

Day 4 - Wednesday Oct. 2, 2013

Wonderful! I'm glad to see that events are repeated..I was concerned everything would happen once, which meant of course, everyone would be in the same place at the same time. So the Disney Files was in your stateroom as a guide to the cruise in addition to the daily Navigators? I'm excited to see what they come up with for the first DVC Alaska cruise and how to fill 7 days! Whoo Hoo!

@Johnny Quest - thanks so much for the posts of the Disney Files & navigators from your prior Members cruise. This will be my first one, so that info is very helpful. I too am glad to see several events repeated.

I wish I could tell you exactly where this magazine was in our stateroom. I've scanned our pictures of all our staterooms that trip and there is nothing on the desktops or in the drawers. Like JQ mentioned, we never looked at it or even remember getting it. We just found it two days ago. It was sitting among all our paperwork when we went to scan the navigators.

I know they gave the same magazine out for the Aug 2014 Member Cruise after reading about it somewhere online.

We will be sure not to overlook it on this cruise.

One thing I wanted to point out to all our new DVC Member Cruisers. If you go back and read the Toy Story of Terror and Saving Mr. Banks intros, you will see a warning "no cell phones; cameras; bags or other recording devices.................". This is due to the fact that they premiered these showings in advance of their actual theatre/television release dates. And this was strictly enforced so don't even bring your wave phone. They had a security detector set up and were turning people away who had things in their possession. The lines were really long to get into the first viewing of Toy Story of Terror and the theatre was maxed to capacity. They gave out commemorative Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D hats that night.

Great to know..thanks! I just saw a short preview pemiere of Cinderella at Disneyland, and did the same for Big Hereo 6, and there was the no electronics statement, but no searching. It's good to know in advance if this comes up, so I can leave everything in the room.

What was going on at DL?

we had to actually go thru a portable metal detector on the ship. I don't know where they keep it stored. But the Toy Story of Terror wasn't a short previews. It was a full length features which may explain the heightened security requirement.

wow. what a great looking film and cast. With a March release date, Cinderella will probably be showing on our cruise.

Saving Mr. Banks was a similar to this but a lot more involved. It was a preview with movie clips and behind the scenes footage.

I don't know which film they'll promote in May but I'm thinking It'll be Pixar's Inside Out since it's scheduled to be released in June.
although I am secretly hoping it's Marvel's Ant Man.

They had a Cinderella preview at DL in the It's Tough to be a Bug theater when I was there, and in October they had Big Hero 6 preview at the Captain EO theater. Great you got to see the whole thing! At the Expo we do the whole metal detector thing for studio stuff, and that is just previews and celebrity appearances, so not surprised about the detector for showing a whole short.

Tomorrowland opens while we're on board so good bet it will be showing, and panel about Inside Out is a good bet also.

I agree. probably a panel on the Pixar Feature and Tomorrowland will definitely be showing on our cruise. Looks pretty interesting. Starring George Clooney.
Now if they really wanted to kick it into high gear they'd talk about Star Wars and simulcast w/ SWW at WDW!

I watched the trailer for Inside Out and didn't find it all that entertaining, but I'm keeping an open mind.

off topic - for anyone with a Princess onboard - I just came across something called a Princess Tea on Tracy Arm and at sea days in a 2013 trip report:
http://www.disboards.com/threads/the-wonder-in-alaska-september-2-9-2013.3181657/page-2

We arrived at Studio Sea a few minutes before the 4:00 tea and found a seat inside. We had not told Natalie what we were doing and she was excited to see the “tea” pot (full of apple juice) and have a tea party with her sisters. She had no idea who the special guest was going to be, she was beyond thrilled when Ariel made her appearance. Tiana also came out and they both visited each table. Then there was a dance lesson and each princess posed for pictures and signed autographs. If you have a princess loving kid, this is a must do! It’s not advertised, I only heard about it on the DIS. I had signed up at Guest Services on embarkation day and had the choice of today or the last sea day.

Not sure if they discontinued it in 2014 but it's worth inquiring about for this year.

Hello group! We are looking at a Whale Watching tour in Juneau and were looking at the group http://www.juneauwhalewatch.com. Does anyone have any experience with using them?

Hope that everyone is well. We are under the 100 day mark!

I would suggest taking the train the day before. If the train originates from Southern California, it is often hours late by the time it arrives in Seattle. Also, there are often mudslides in the Seattle area which will futher delay the train.

I don't know much about them. The company is part of a conglomerate of several LLC's operated under 1 single owner named: Sky Bonnell

Woo Hoo LLC
Juneau Tours LLC (running your website)
Alaska Riders LLC
Sky Leasing Company

years ago they were using a d/b/a "Experience Alaska" to run the green trolley in Juneau but that seems to be under the Juneau Tours LLC now.
All I could find were several negative testimonials on this white school bus being used to transport guests all together with no organization for multiple tours.

Good luck with your research. Hope this helps.

update on logistics and planning.

Palo brunch appears to be sold out for parties of 1-3 on our 2nd at Sea Day 5/31.
I don't know if larger groups can book that date.

Since some of our family is heading East while JQ and I head South when we disembark, they decided to go with the Disney Transfers from the port to YVR.
Cost $25.00 pp. We had to contact DVC to set it up and payment was required in advance. We were told they will be given instructions and tags in their stateroom the night before.

Does anyone know how the luggage is handled for this?

We still haven't decided if we're flying out of Seattle or YVR to CA. I've been checking rates a lot! We looked into Bellingham as well but the flight times are not ideal with only a select number of airlines. Plus they all seem to connect thru either Seattle or San Fran w/ layovers.

Good luck to the 90 day Silver CC Members. Your booking window is opening very soon.

I have been stressing over flights for the past two days. The times are horrible coming back to NY. Not much better going there, but I know how I am, I hate to wait around killing time on the last day of vacation. Am seriously considering two different airlines, since we have enough points for one way. Want to be settled on all this in the next few days. Not a patient woman ( says the same woman who has a big black cross of Ashes on her forehead at the moment)! It will all work out......:)

Hello, fellow DVC Cruisers! DH and I just booked! This is our 2nd Disney Cruise, 1st Member Cruise and 1st Alaska trip. We are VERY excited and looking forward to meeting everyone.
We would like to join an FE adult group. Cabin 7540, Darryl & Sandra. Thanks!

We just booked our son Mark On an Air Canada return flight out of YVR. We bit the bullet and paid a little extra to make it more convenient for him. Leaves YVR at 12:30pm and arrives in Philly at 10:52pm. He changes planes in Toronto. My brother also booked this flight.

A question from one of the participants in the Adult FE group number one......is anyone allergic to Tide detergent?

Update for us, we will be at the Pan Pacific, but after waiting for this rate, it wasn't any better than some of you got months ago!

Another update ....one of our fellow travelers is organizing a first day meet and greet on board for 2:30 PM in the promenade lounge. He figures that is after lunch, and probably won't interfere with safety drill.

Yep. I break out with Tide.

I have one other question, is anyone organizing a Mixology class?
