2015 DVC Alaska Member Cruise 5/25-5/31/15

Anybody know what movies will be playing during our cruise? Our last disney cruise someone was able to find out ahead of time.

I believe you have to call the cruise line to get the exact list. But they do run first run movies currently in theatres.
I don't know if they will provide this information for Members Cruises.

So I'd start with these - it's almost certain we'll have a few that correlate to our sail date.
Especially the Avengers: Age of Ultron
Can't wait!

According to Forbes Magazine, the Disney’s full schedule run down goes as follows.

January 23 –Lucasfilm’s Strange Magic
February 20 –McFarland, USA
March 13 — Cinderella
April 17 — Monkey Kingdom
May 1 — Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron
May 22 –Tomorrowland
June 19 — Pixar’s Inside Out
July 17 — Marvel’s Ant–Man
October 9 –The Jungle Book
October 16 — DreamWorks’ Untitled Steven Spielberg Cold War Spy Thriller
November 25 — Pixar’s The Good Dinosaur
December 18 — Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens

OK I found the Quick Shuttle Schedule. Scroll down and you'll see the Summer Schedule from last year. (hopefully this will be similar in 2015)
http://www.quickcoach.com/map.htm. looks like it stops at both Bellingham and SeaTac airports as well as downtown Seattle. So the question is: is this a single bus route on any given day? or multiple busses with varying routes?
I would say there are 5 Southbound buses each day. There is a bonus bus on Friday to Monday morning from the cruise terminal to get you downtown Seattle or the Airport skipping the other stops to arrive quicker.

Where do you want to go after getting off the Wonder? Downtown Seattle (12:45pm) or the airport (1:20pm)? Or do you want to stay in Vancouver for a few days?

Trying to add a photo the new way now. So hated the photobucket option. Here is our door from the last member cruise, posting it from my PC. Having some issues with the ipad and disboards, can't use the App, accessing from google. Anyway, trying out the upload a file option!

So I'm trying to get a quote for Quick Shuttle. No matter what date I put in for Canada Place Pier it tells me to choose another departure point. Isn't that where the ships come in/out of?

I tried the same thing a few days ago. The port pickup times are not available yet, since the Summer 2015 schedule is not in the system. Canada Place is only open during the cruise season. Once June is up we'll be able to get a quote.

FYI - Anyone considering the Amtrak Cascades Line to/from Seattle / Vancouver etc... there is a 25% discounted fare promotion going on right now for 2 wk advance tix purchases. check it out: http://www.amtrak.com/pacific-northwest-travel-low-train-fares-to-seattle-portland.
check out the Deals section also: http://www.amtrak.com/deals

hmmm--------- to quote DeNiro "I gotta rethink this whole thing!"

My daughter is 18 and the last two cruises we have been on she's been to Vibe but sadly she is now too old. I see from the FE info that there are a few 18, 19 year olds. My daughter is worried she is going to be 'bored' having to spend too much time with her parents!!!!!! Lol. Has anyone joined in the 18 -21 group, is there regular activities for this age group?

So I am assuming there will be no DVC party since it is all DVC members? Any knowledge from a previous DVC member cruise?
Since no pirate night no buffet that usually happens after?
Anyone know what the official date for the Frozen deck party to start is. I know it is "summer" it is supposed to start but not sure if our May 25th cruise is considered summer.

My daughter is 19 and is also bummed about not being in vibe. There is supposed to be a group that meets for 18-21 year olds. My daughter plans on looking at navigator and seeing when first meeting is to see how it goes. Otherwise I am not quite sure of her plans besides hot tubbing and movies.

I've been looking around trying to find sample Navigator's of the DVC cruises to see how many extra things are offered and what they're like. Does anyone know where to find samples?

Does anyone know if the Concierge room doors are magnetic? I brought all of our magnetic "door swag" to our recent cruise on the Fantasy only to find out the concierge doors are not magnetic. So want to save my packing room, if I won't be able to use them:littleangel:

If you like to fish and want to experience some of the best fishing around then consider joining us for a 6 hour Halibut fishing charter out of Ketchikan with Bella Misty Fishing Charters. Our group consists of Poison Ivy (beginner), our son Iron Man (intermediate) and myself (old) and can handle up to 6 people with a minimum of 4.

We are contracting directly with Bella Misty and are looking for at least 1 more "angler" but welcome up to 3. The cost is $225.00/person to fish +$20.00 ea. for a license. If you want to ship your catch home they offer processing and shipping at an extra cost.

Check out their website below. Click on the dropdown menu, to "boat" and watch the video. The "West Cape" is a custom 33' Pilothouse Yacht with a heated cabin and private bathroom and has all the latest electronic gear. They provide all tackle and rain gear and include a box lunch and beverages.

I have already reserved this with a deposit and we have a confirmed charter. We will be the first group off the Wonder as soon as she docks which could be earlier than the scheduled 11:15am and be met by Captain Clayton Moore for a five minute walk to the West Cape. The day will consist of a one hour ride each way to the fishing grounds and approx. 4hrs of fishing.

So if this sounds like something you wanted to do (bucket list), then come join us for a good time.

Today is Feb 9th. Which is check in for Gold CC members.. We forgot to log in at midnight and did it around 6am this morning.

Palo reservations were a bit tricky. Only 3 of us could reserve today - the other two are Silver so they're at the 90 day window.
Our son is silver and we're gold, but we were allowed to reserve for our entire cabin at the 105 day mark.

So on the first at sea day, I selected a party of 3 for brunch and it came back as unavailable. I decided to retry as a party of 2 and only 10 am came up which is fine for us. I then went back in to see if I could snag a 2nd reservation for our son as a pty of 1 and once again 10 am came up. So I managed to get us all booked just not as one party.

Fast forward to Day 4 (skagway) for dinner. I could only get 1 time at Palo for a pty of 3 - 6pm which was too early with our planned excursions. Went back in as a pty of 2 and a whole menu of times popped up. So I did the same thing - made 2 separate reservations for the same time to accommodate the 3 of us.

I'll be curious to see what happens when we go to add the rest of our group and expand to a pty of 5.

Other than that, we are not planning any Disney excursions except for possibly dogsledding in Skagway. So I did hold an afternoon time slot.
I am in the process of getting a quote directly on this and will be curious to compare pricing.

Our port days are filling up:

Skagway - if all goes according to plan we'll book the white pass rail 1/2 day 7:30 am train/bus thru Chilkoot Charters. Grab a quick bite in town and do the helicopter dogsled trek in the afternoon followed by a late dinner at Palo that night. This would be the most loaded day of our entire cruise.

Juneau - morning whale watching private charter with a stop at Mendenhall Glacier. Late lunch at Tracy's King Crab Shack. I don't think we'll have time to do both the Tramway and tour the town but we'll see.

Ketchikan - private halibut fishing charter and visit Creek Street and the shops and maybe even find this place:

Ketchikan's Burger Queen - "Want to know where the locals go to eat their lunch? This little burger stand serves the best halibut and chips I have ever had (at any price) in my life. I liked it so much I ate there twice. I suspect everything on their menu is exceptional, so if you want a break from cruise food, I couldn't recommend a better restaurant in all of Alaska. Don't let its appearance fool you. Be aware though, it is always crowded."

Other than that I booked brunch on our first at Sea Day (day 2) and left Tracy Arm Day open to enjoy the bbq.

Good luck everyone!

Oh and we selected an 11:00 am Port Arrival Time which I think is the earliest available.

All doors are magnetic doors on the Magic and Wonder. If you google image "Disney magic cabin 8016 door" you will see they are the white magnetic doors same as every other class on the ships.
I believe only the dream and fantasy concierge stateroom doors have the problem with a thick wood laminate finish interfering with door magnets.

Welcome to our cruise meet!!

I wish I could tell you Yes! you'll make it but my instincts are cautioning me that everything has to go according to schedule on that train. And since you have no way of knowing in advance, I would seriously consider an alternate travel plan that arrives in Vancouver earlier that morning.

Here's a thread which discusses your situation pretty well. I couldn't determine if any posters went thru with it.

Here's a copy of the most important thing I didn't read on my first Member Cruise.

I thought it was just another Disney Files Magazine.
Little did I know it was a complete overview of all the special events on our Member Cruise.
With a full page dedicated to each one.

And they gave us a daily pocket guide with event times for each one.
Everything began on Day 2 of our 4 night cruise.
