2014 - The best is Yet to Come - planning for the Anniversary Trip

THank you Ruth. :lovestruc

I hope you are able to figure out what you want to do... I agree - fresher feet for MNSSHP is probably a great idea!

D~

Wow! MNSSHP 5 times?? Nice! We've only done it once, but know we'll do it again when Dan and I can do our "just us" trip. Which won't be for a while, but still I will look forward to MNSSHP whenever it happens. And I, too, fully endorse the fresher feet approach.::yes::

Well, I don't know about fresher feet - we're still waffling there. Cale wishes we could just put a deposit down on both days and wait to see what the weather was going to be like. The past two years MNSSHP that we went to were on rainy nights or nights after rainy days.

On the planning front - not much: Cale REALLY wants to go to a water park we're lazy river people (although the water coasters were plenty fun, but they did pinch the cheeks - not those, the OTHER cheeks.) so our enjoyment lasts for a morning, tops, and then mosey over to a mini-golf course.

We did "test" the new Sorento this weekend with a spontaneous trip to Chattanooga (about 1.5 hours away) to see Rock City. We took J&B and had a lot a fun seeing the 7 states. The trip was smooth, good gas mileage and these seats don't seem to bother my arthritis like my car or the old Rondo did, so Yay!

Then yesterday I went home early and he put me to work washing the cars. They needed it (especially mine :rolleyes1) and I can now see out my back window clearly!

Well, that's all for now, I think - prayers and blessings on everybody!

We love the water parks too - but you know that. Not sure about the cheek thing, but I will fully test it out this year! :thumbsup2

Yay - glad your test drive went well! And all of the cars are clean. Bonus. ::yes::

Have a great remainder to your week. :)

D~

Oh my gosh! I went to Rock City when I was a little girl. I hadn't thought of it in a very long time. I do remember it being pretty awesome!

I love the water parks as well. I am a lazy river aficionado as well. I like the coasters too, especially the one at TL that has three different "shoots". I hope you get to go.

I hear you about the party tickets and the rain. We attended the Christmas party on a record breaking 32 degree night and froze our twinkies but good! We ended up leaving earlier than we would have, had it been a little warmer. Still, waiting until the night of the party to buy tickets runs the risk of it being sold out.

Are you going to be there on your actual anniversary? We celebrated our 25th at Disney 3 years ago, but went in December instead of July because we refuse to be there in the summer. It was still magical to us.

Have a great day!

If you go on the coasters, just make sure you lift your bottom when it shoots you over the hills. Fun, but I had smarty cheeks for the rest of the day. :lmao:

Rock city is pretty cool. It's a little kitschy, but still a lot of fun. They just recently re-did their gift shop and snack shop. I almost bought a bottle of cider, but just couldn't justify an entire bottle when I am the only one in the house that would drink it.

Cale thinks Disney should implement the deposit plan. As someone who works in a venue where we occasionally do hard ticket events, completely understand why they don't. Not only would some parties not be anywhere near capacity, others would be so popular there would be some pretty unhappy guests - no magic there.

The one time we were down there for the Christmas Party it was cold! Make the Hot Chocolate and cookies worthwhile though. ;)

We were originally going to be in Disney for our actual anniversary (Oct 23) but we decided that Free Dining and enjoying September crowds was much better than the Food and Wine festival/fall break crowds. And we've spent my birthday for the past couple of years at Disney and apparently Cale really enjoys that. I still think it's because all he has to get me is a card and make sure we have Breakfast at the Crystal Palace. :rotfl:

100 days!!! :yay::yay:

Cale claims less, but that's because he's going by actual vacation time rather than on-property time.

Planning updates: we've decided definitely on MNSSHP on the 21st - earlier for better attitudes. AND we didn't have to change any ADRS. We've got dinner at the Garden Grill early enough to make it over to the party just after it starts (God willing and the creek don't rise) Since our Must Dos at the party are the parade(s) and at least one showing of the Villain's stage show; we'll be fine if we miss a bit at the beginning.

I've got a custom bag in the works for myself. I'm very excited. When I get it done, I'll have to show it off, along with my very first custom bag because they'll be based on the same character.

I also have a Pixie-Dust bag that I meant to send in the mail today, but completely forgot it at home. On the kitchen table. I'm taking that to mean there's something I'll pick up this afternoon that needs to be sent along with it. ::yes::

We should also be thinking about getting new shoes so we can get them worn in before the park miles. Also I need to get moving: conditioning for park miles. Thanks to our sweet T, I do get at least a little movement and since he absolutely will not do his business with out a bush, and we live in the foothills of the Smokey Mountains, most of our little outings are uphill. That makes those flat park miles easier to handle.

Out of the blue today I got a call from a local friend who will be at WDW the same time as we are, so we're going to meet up with them and hope we don't get to see the backside of splash, like the first time we met them there. First time I'd ever been evacuated off a ride.

So - I maybe updating more just to get some of the excitement out of the system. Unless the scourge of the Summer Camps strikes.

That's so great that a friend will be there at the same time. I hope Splash plays nice too. Hate getting evacuated from rides!

We had to change our dates to accommodate Dan's work, so, sadly I won't get to meet you this trip. Later in September is my favorite time to go, but we are grateful Dan has a fantastic job he loves, so this minor inconvenience is no big deal. (now that I'm over my initial huff;)) Hopefully one day we'll meet! And meanwhile, I'm excited to hear all about your trip plans!

Have a great weekend!!!:goodvibes

Good Morning Well obviously from your user ID I presumed you sew See I smart I college edumicated :joker: but I didn't know you make bags Have you ever shown any ? What theme are you making for yourself ? Would love to see some of your work, being a non-sewer ( is that even correct ? ) I admire other people and their talent

You go Cale under 100 days I like the way you think :thumbsup2 Ugh getting in shape I think I have gained 10 lbs in the past few months I really need to do something myself Maybe drag out the bike & start riding

Anxious to read more of your plans How nice to be meeting up with your friend YES hope Splash cooperates this time around

Loving a job trumps most things, I think. It's amazing to me how people won't be flexible - employers or employees. A little give, a little take and that would an easier world make.

I dabble in the bags - I'm not on the level of D~ I like to make my own because then I can customize for my wants/needs. I've made a couple for friends/family and they seem to like them. I'm my own worst critique.
I thought you might have seen one of my bags, but I was using the little leather one when we met, so nope, you didn't.

EDITED Sun 6/22:

It was terrific to talk to you the other night! Would you please post the picture so the announcement that I have been Pixie Dusted actually means something pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart You are a good and caring friend :flower3:

Any new plans on the horizon? I'm asking everybody what color magic band they ordered and if they are going to bling it out? How about you? I plan to bling my pink one, but Dan said absolutely nothing on his!! His is red this time and I sooo want to Mickeyfy it! But, I want a happy hubby, so I'll restrain myself.:rolleyes1

You must be in the northern part of Alabama if you're at the foot of the Smokey Mnts. I think I remember Birmingham? Yeah, we talked about the Vulcan, right? I seriously need to take notes on all my DIS friends to keep everything straight!!:faint:

Hope life is treating you well. Have a great evening!:goodvibes

Well - more of the same. I keep forgetting to actually order the MNSSHP tickets (but I do check everytime I think about it to make sure they are still available) and Cale keeps asking when we can do our FP+ (he's got it stuck in his head that it's July 2 - It's July 22 :sad2:)

I'm thinking that I'm going to have to use a cover for my MagicBand. I have very acidic sweat (thank you, Dad) and can't wear any plastics for long because my sweat makes me break out in a rash (TMI - sorry) I need to check the measurements and work on them so I can make a couple. Maybe one for each park. Cale's a plain band - no bling kind of guy too. He just wanted a plain grey one and because I figure I'll need some cotton between me and the non-organic materials, I ordered a plain boring grey one too.

Well, I think technically we're the "foothills of the Appelachias" in Central AL, but since the valley that we actually live in is known for it's fogs, I thought Smokeys would be appropriate. And Yeh, I think we talked about Vulcan...we need to figure out a way to cross reference posts.

I have a little project in my sewing room that is cut out, embroidered and ready to put together. I'll definitely post pictures because I'm planning on using it as my "Hey! I'm on the DisBoard!" marker.

Other than that - the major plan is to survive the summer! :thumbsup2

Yeah, I totally get the need to cover the band. I break out when I wear anything with nickel in it. My watches all have to have leather bands and SS backs. A pain. I'm sure you'll come up with some fun fabrics so yours will make a statement.

Oooh, I can't wait to see what you are up to in your sewing room. Sounds intriguing! Have a great weekend!:flower3:

Helloooo! How are you doing with your sewing projects? I'm not seeing any photos yet…:rolleyes1

Seriously, hope all is well with you. I'm not getting much accomplished at all and really need to buckle down and just sew!! Don't know where all the time goes.:confused3

I hope you have a great weekend!:goodvibes

You don't see pictures because the DIS and I had a long falling out after attempting to post twice and it disappearing both times.:furious:

I'll try again this weekend when I'm less distracted.:thumbsup2

And otherwise, summer has hit with a vengeance in the past two days. Suddenly this relatively calm and mild summer hit a busy point - just as I was short handed and I had forgotten how draining it is to be at the front counter all day. Of course, it's the only time for the entire summer that I am short handed, so of course the weather and such decided to ramp it up.

Thanks for checking on me - sometimes I need it. :)

Well I have been thinking of you too figured you were in work mode so there you have double hugs right now
:hug::hug:

Here we go again! I'm hoping this works this time.

While we are waiting to make our FP+ choices I'm sharing some Disney Crafts that I have made. Some newer then others so I'm going to post in roughly chronological order. Also all but one have been sent off to new homes and happy new owners.

First off: may I present MiniCM

I also made a Tower or Terror CM to go along with her, both now reside in Canada with a great Disney fan. She was about 3 inches high. I think I may need to make one for myself. Maybe a whole set.

Next Up: Tink Shadow

The bag is from a pattern, made with thrifted sheets and the applique is done by hand (like D's) This was a Christmas present and actually resides just a little bit away at a friend's house.

This should be familiar to one of y'all. Ruthie's bag.

I made up this pattern. I had all of the materials in my stash and it came together nicely, and quickly, into a crossbody bag. It now resides in FL with our very own Luvchefmic!
With a special keyring:

And finally, the one that stayed with me.

The story here is I have a small purse, like 4"X6", and my phone charger kept trying to crawl out of it. So I looked up a tutorial on dogundermydesk.com and grabbed the remnants of a swatch from Spoonflower with Maleficent and now my cord no longer tries to escape. Ha Ha!! It's always a good day in our house when we foil the inanimate objects' plans.

We got our notice from WDW today that our FP+ window is coming up next week. We're looking forward to it. And by looking forward I mean Cale's grumbling about having to plan every single move and I'm trying to convince him that it's not going to be that bad.

Oooh, I LOVE that little CM doll!!! What a great idea!

And the bags are beautiful. I love the Tink shadow. That's a lot of fussy cutting to get it so detailed! You have skills and a LOT of patience! And of course Ruthie's would have Pluto, who else? Very nicely done!:thumbsup2

I love the way you put things: "foil the inanimate objects"!:lmao: What a great idea to add to your bag that way. I must think of this for my own bag. I can never hear my phone when it's in my bag. I'm thinking I need something to hang on the outside so I might be able to hear it better.

Well, I hope you got your FP+ by now and that you got things the way you wanted. Hopefully Cale will find it will be handier than he thinks to have these in place.

Thanks for sharing your projects! I hope things at work have settled down a bit for you now. Have a great day!:goodvibes
