Well, our plans have changed just a little.

When the Disney Visa deal came out, our travel agent was right on it, and saved us just over $1000 while I was at work. (Thank you Tracey!!!!) But the only Garden View room available with the discount was at the Yacht Club, not the Beach Club. (We could have upgraded to water view at the BC, and the discount would have gone down to $200. To be honest, I live on an island and have a pool in my yard; I'm not paying an extra $800 to see water.) We're excited about the opportunity to try yet another Disney Deluxe, particularly one very much like the BC we loved so much in 2012.

Anyway, here are my questions:
-- Are there any requests we should make as far as location? Our two primary destinations are probably Epcot and Stormalong Bay.

-- Are there any "secrets" like the BC's back door we should be aware of?

-- Where do I go to get that pre-rope-drop cup of coffee/tea?

-- Anything else I should know?

Thanks, as always, for all the wonderful info on this thread!!

Just a quick update this morning. Checked in yesterday around 3. Stopped at the guard and he was very nice, gave me my parking pass, waved me on to the front for valet. We unloaded and walked inside to check in. I had done online so I was a little surprised when I walked up to the desk and they were like wait just a minute and someone will be with you. People were coming and going out of the side door with their iPads and two CMs walked by and said someone will be with you shortly. Then the CM walks up and says, hi you're the blah blah blahs and I here to check you in. Oh I see we have you in Stone Harbor Club in a two bedroom suite, is that alright. Well, sure it's alright, I paid of a garden view standard! It's room 2511, not on club floor but with full amenities but the best part is it's right across from the stairwell to the secret exit. MAJOR Pixie Dust for our anniversary!

EPCOT was pretty busy last night, I think that F&G with food kiosks is impacting crowds like F&W does. Back to resort by 8PM as we were pretty tired. Hubby stayed in the room and daughter and i were heading to MK when the bus showed up for DTD so we said what the heck. Big mistake. Ride over was fine and not crowded but coming back was a nightmare with the guests from he**. Family of bullies staying at Dolphin, screaming when the bus didn't arrive quickly, dad yelling on the cell phone to mom to get down to bust stop 5 over and over. She shows up beer in hand and they proved to push shove and be obnoxious. Kid begins mocking the British accent of the CM trying to make sure we were all in the correct line then Mom & Dad chime in. The real kicker though was when Dad starts encouraging kid to do pull ups on the grab bars on the bus and then joins him to show him ow it's done. Folks poured off the bust at Swan (first stop) I think to get away from them!

Wow !! I could've written this myself!!! Same exact situation... Wondering all the same things !!

We just fell in love with the location at the Beach Club, being one of the rooms right next the 'secret exit' to Epcot and literally 1 minute away from the International Gateway, plus being able to see the Illuminations fireworks from our patio every night. That combination is worth a lot to us... but clearly not that much, because we decided to switch to Yacht Club to save $1,200 on our upcoming June trip. Also, IIRC, it's easier to get a daybed at BC.

Where is this??? Do I need to pay extra to get a good room? Never stayed at the BC always CSR (where I know exactly what room we want!).

I only have a quick moment to post now, but I will point you to where you can find answers to your questions and more info.

ETA: A location request of "Close to lobby/SAB, please" is probably what you want to add to your reservation.

Secret entrance/exit to YC- see the YC room post on Page 1. We have an explanation of the secret entrance and closest room number.

Pre-rope drop coffee/tea:

YC: Ale & Compass lounge
BC: Marketplace

Both may start serving coffee at 6:30 am (although not positive about the A&C time)- There is a post about Ale & Compass both in the dining post on Page 1 and the FAQ (Post 13) or Other Useful Info Post (Page 14)

:goodvibes

The rooms we like at the Beach Club are the ones on the ground floor on the far east side of the resort, closest to Epcot. There is an exit door (often called the 'secret exit', and shown at the beginning of this thread) that literally puts you steps away from the International Gateway. If you get a room facing toward Epcot, you will be able to seethe high fireworks above the trees. Best of all, these are priced as 'garden view' rooms!

Yes, we saved moving to the Yacht Club, because the new summer 'stay longer' offer was only available there, and not at the Beach Club.

You don't need to pay extra to get a 'good room', but you will pay extra if you book a 'water view'.

That's great to know!! DH and I are still debating on staying at BC one night before our cruise. I say "yes", he says "maybe", lol.

Sent from my LG G2.

I know the benefit if BC secret exit nearest to the Eocot walkway, but what is the benefit of YC's secret entrance/exit. Is it so guests staying on that side if the resort do not have to snake through the building? Or, to exit near the boat dock?

Wood Nymph, thank you SO SO much for stopping and getting the hot tea info and photos, not once, but twice! Us hot tea drinkers really appreciate it! Have a magical trip!!!

Ugh,
Not sure I can wait until the middle of August to arrive. LOL. Two years away from Disney is a LONG time.

This will likely be our last trip for quite a while. :( Have to make the most of it.

After days of debating - we finally decided to switch over to the YC - lagoon view and give up the BC - garden view. We really enjoy our full balcony and don't want to take a chance at the BC (although we've lucked out every time before). Besides, I was able to get the 35% off at the YC instead of 25% at the BC. I'm happy.....;)

Sounds like a great plan!!:thumbsup2

He is "The one you have to DRAG out of the park". This is the person who didn't originally want to go to WDW and let you know repeatedly before the trip began, this is why it's such a shock that you find yourself on a bench waiting for him to ride Pirates six more times. "Mr. or Mrs. Not ready to leave yet" will pull you toward every ride he or she passes on the way out of the parks (Even that Stitch abomination). This person is frequently chased out to the parks by the cleaning staff, who are pushing the late night lingerers down Main Street at closing with those God forsaken, 200 decibel, vacuum cleaners they are pretending to vacuum the park with, when really, we all know they are just trying to chase you out of the hub with them.

(Side note: These machines are how the park staff pries Ninja Mom off of the "Partners statue" at closing and makes her leave for the night. Nannette can attest to this fact...)

YES!! I am attesting to this fact!!! NM is THAT person... VERY LAST ONE OUT OF THE PARK!!! I had fun though!!! :)

I am so glad you had a nice meal at La Hacienda! Now I get really nervous when people plan to eat there because I made such a big deal about how good the food was! ;)
I was pretty nervous about choosing a restaurant based on the reviews I read on the Dis forum. ;) But I'm glad I trusted it. :goodvibes Actually, most of the restaurants we have tried based on the reviews I've read here have turned out very good. ::yes::

The YC secret exit opens up right on the walkway around the lake. It makes the walk to Epcot a little faster if your room is close to that door because it is almost a straight line to the entry to Epcot. That door is also close to the boats. And it is very close to the bridge to the Boardwalk resort area. The one time we stayed at the YC we were very close to that door and it was great. :)

We have been using that hot tea the last couple of days to make iced tea, since the cold tea dispenser has been broken for the last two days. We discovered that brewing a cup of Earl Grey tea, then pouring it over a cup of ice, is very good. By the way, the hot water is located by the microwave oven and toaster, not by the other beverages. :) _________________________________ We had another nice day today. We got to meet Teena and she is just as nice as everyone said she is. Teena and I both agreed that the desserts were delicious at Cape May. We ate dinner there tonight and it was as good as it usually is, including the desserts. :goodvibes I have the Keys to the Kingdom Tour scheduled for tomorrow morning and then we are going to see Cirque du Soliel at DTD tomorrow night. Right now my husband doesn't really want to go either on the tour or go to DTD, but maybe a good night's sleep will change his mind. :worried: He knows I'll go without him, though. ;)

Please remove me from the Be Our Guest list. We changed our dates and YC would no longer work for us cost wise :(

Maybe next time :) since my older 2 are already planning our next Disney vacation!

Where do you put the gift cards in at on my Disney experience? I can't see where my balance is...

If I insult your intelligence, it was not my intent, but here is step-by-step:
(1) Log into My Disney Experience.
(2) In the upper right hand corner, click the drop-down menu ("My Disney Experience" with the Mickey icon).
(3) Select "My Reservations and Tickets"
(4) Under the "Disney Resort Hotel Reservations" look for "Remaining Balance"
(5) Click "Make a Payment"

It helps if you drink while clicking these buttons, as then the time seems to go faster! :rotfl: I've yet to have a Sunken Treasure, but I've heard good things.

I hope this helps!

We are here at the MK waiting for our KTTK tour to start. We got a bus at 7:25 am and it took 15 minutes to get here. We walked down to the hub and asked a CM about the cameras. She said that they are filming today and will be starting soon. I assume it is for the TV slow Modern Family. I'll let you know how the tour is.

ETA - the TV show is The Middle. We saw the actors who play the family standing near the partners statue.

I'm thinking that in a symbolic protest, at the August Beach Club/Yacht Club/BCV Dis meet, we all gather around this outdoor shower, strip off our suits and lather up in protest at the lack of locker room access. I'm starting a sign up sheet below. There is no need to add your name as I will take the trouble to put you in myself.

This should let management know that A) We definitely need the use of those locker rooms and B) We are middle aged and droopy which is not an attractive combination at a deluxe resort pool.

1) Ninja Mom
2) Nannette (She's coming, she just won't admit it yet....)
3) Robyn
4) Feckless (a 60's Hippy if ever there was one)
5) Couchy (guys bring your dollar bills 'cause Couchy works out!)
6) ScottMC and JNPants (in charge of the bar for this event)
7) Janet Mom (She has volunteered to lead us in a rousing rendition of O Janitor:

O Janitor, Our home and locker land!
After Storm Along bay our showers they were planned
With glowering hearts we seethe and cry
Locker room access should be free!
From far and wide,
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our locker glorious and free!
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.
O Janitor, we stand on guard for thee.

Ok, Who'd I miss??

Oooh ME ME ME!! :rotfl2:

This is a thread I started where people can post pictures of the views and brief descriptions from various rooms at the Yacht Club. I have it indexed by view category, so that people can see samples of views from various categories.

I also have threads for the Beach Club and recently started one for BCV.

Yacht Club Room Views

Another poster has provided pictures for 5154, but if you would like to add yours, or any others, that would be great!

:goodvibes
I looked briefly, and the person who took the pics of 5154 did a WAY better job than I did, and the flowers around the gazebo were much more in bloom for them. Poor me... ;) I may have some older photos of a first room floor on the opposite side, same decor. I'll get looking!!

NinjaMom, you're killing me.

Yes, that's Chris Evans you captured on the slide...at my request. If I ever found him in SAB, you'd never get me out. No really. Keep charging my Discover...then I'll sell JNPants....then my soul. Then you can send the police after me, but they'll need to bring a crowbar to pry me off of him. Good luck with that.
Uhm, I believe a link or a reposting is in order... Thank you!! :flower3:

Have a great time!! That would be cool to see Modern Family filming, if you get the chance for that.
