Bob and I had plans to drive into Disney today and meet friends for dinner. They just called and cancelled. Last night they shared a cheesecake at the Cheesecake Factory and were up all night with food poisoning. They are still feeling real bad and are ordering ginger ale, soup and crackers from room service all day. If they are up to it, we're heading in to meet up with them tomorrow night. Feel so bad for them!!!

Ugh! Poor friends! Maybe they will recoup quick enough to reschedule. On the flip side I am glad you and Bob didn't have that meal with them. :scared1:

This is what I know about YC CL GV Rooms, from past guests who have provided info.

Some specific info about YC CL GV rooms (5):

View of Wedding Gazebo:

5148
5150 2 Queens, Daybed
5152 2 Queens, Chair with ottoman
5154 2 Queens, Daybed

View of Lakeside (back) Entrance Courtyard

5198 King Bed

I am not sure of the bedding configuration in 5148. It may be another King.

There are a couple of rooms in that category that will sleep 5 people, but since it is just a small percentage, I'm not sure if the Yacht Club books this category for families of 5. Probably not.

Thanks Dee! That makes sense.:thumbsup2 Maybe I will just wish for a little pixie dust. Either way, I am so excited to be there!!!!:cool1:

For those of you who know I work in Harlem... the explosion is about 20 blocks from me so I am fine and not at work today anyway. It really looks like a war zone. So far there are 2 confirmed dead and lots hurt. There is a lot to search... happened about 9:30am so lots of people out and about. They don't expect terrorist... looks like it might have been a gas explosion. Anyway prayers for the people involved in the rescue and those who live and work in that area!

So glad you are okay!!!!:)

So excited, we are going back to the Beach Club!!!!!:banana:

I had such a great time during our Villa and CL stay this past September that when we went to Disney in December and stayed at AOA Cars Suite I missed the Beach Club, does that make me crazy??? LOL

We had a trip booked at FT Wilderness in a cabin for May, but I kept thinking about the BC. I went on the website today and saw that with a passholder rate I could stay at the BC in a standard room for the same price plus tax that I paid for the cabin!!! I looked into it further and I ended up booking a Deluxe CL room. We are starting our beach vacation with 2 days at the BC before going to South Ponte Vedra Beach for the week. It doesn't get any better than that!

So, can I please be added to the BOG list? May 31 and June 1

YEAH!!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: Not crazy at all.... but then again that is coming from someone that is ending up back at BC/YC a year earlier than planned.....:crazy2::cool1::cool1:

Thanks so much!! I actually worked at the Boardwalk during my college program, so I'm super excited to be able to walk to Epcot/DHS! :goodvibes

EDIT: Oh, and we'll be there May 26-June 1!

That is so cool! Where did you work?? My college roommate spent her summers with the College program and worked at the Emporium.

Oooh, have you seen this?

http://www.*********.com/illuminations-dessert-party-open-booking-186875/

Hmm seems Chip and Co (all one word) is not allowed

Dessert Parties are starting at Epcot. More pricey than MK but it does include wine!!

That looks awesome!!!:cool1:

I have a few quick question.

1. Where do you have to enter SAB from Yacht Club? Is SAB completely gated, so as to enter through a gate to scan your magic band?

I am staying CL YC (5th flr) and want to be as close as possible (least amount of walking) to get to sab.

2. What location on 5th floor would you recommend?

I have looked at several maps and cannot see where you would go into sab.:confused3

Hi Minnie.:wave2: I will defer to the experts on here but can offer what I believe. I know there are a couple of entrances to SAB on the sidewalk side. There was also one near Beaches and Cream when we were there and one on the YC side too but I only saw that one open one time. There was always someone there that would scan my band. I would think close to lobby would put you out most convenient to SAB.

Again I will let the real experts chime in. Have a great trip!:cool1::cool1:

Minnie0621,

Yes, the pool is completely gated. Everyone in your party will be scanned to enter the pool area. There are several entrances around the perimeter of the pool. Can't help with the YC location request.

Thanks so much! This is what I had pictued in my head.

Any YC disers out there that can help with telling me where the entranes are to sab from the YC. I am trying to figure out where to request my room on the CL (5th floor)...as to have to walk the least to get to sab:thumbsup2

That is so cool! Where did you work?? My college roommate spent her summers with the College program and worked at the Emporium.

I did Fall Advantage 2011 so I was there from May 2011-January 2012! I was a merchandise CM on the Boardwalk so I worked at Dundy's (inside the BW), Screendoor, Character Carnival, Thimbles and Threads, Seashore Sweets (my FAVORITE!), and the ESPN gift shop/arcade! TONS of fun! ;)

Thanks HBGDancer :beach: was thinking the same thing.

I think we are going to miss each other by a few weeks in April. We will be there April 4-12. You have an awesome trip as well..

.I CAN NOT WAIT TO GET OUT OF MICHIGAN!! We had another snow day today..I thought the wind was going to blow the roof off my house:furious:....and another 5 inches of snow.....It has been the worst winter I have ever experienced here...:crazy2:

The closest entrances from YC are in front of The Yachtsman, and the one in front of Hurricane Hannahs. Heres a super fancy map for ya:

Great photo Christine. A picture is worth a thousand words!

And sorry courtthib. I have no idea where the King Rooms are located. But I would add your details to room request and emphasize HONEYMOON! As you know they can't guarantee but I feel like they will do all they can.

Oh my word!!! Thank you so much!!!!! This is exactly what I needed!!!!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!:beach:

Okay friends, I have a (maybe stupid, don't judge! :lmao:) question! I read the thread on making room requests as well as the thread with the pictures of different rooms at YC. Since it's our honeymoon, I'm really hoping to get a king sized bed. I fell in LOVE with this room from the YC garden views thread.

I realize that requesting a particular room number is not a great idea, so here is my question: What exactly should I request if I'm hoping for a room w/king sized bed w/this view? The two circled areas on this map are what I am thinking I should request, but what exactly should I say?

Again, sorry if this is a dumb question, I'm just trying so hard to make sure our Disneymoon is perfect! TIA! :thumbsup2

Did you book a Garden View Room? The two areas you have circled, I believe, are the courtyard view just outside the lobby of the YC and the rooms that overlook the wedding gazebo.

Your request should be something like- "Back entrance (lakeside) courtyard view or wedding gazebo view, please. King Bed if possible- HONEYMOON trip." If your priority is king bed over the specific view, list that first.

I just booked for end of June but unfortunately I do not feel as excited as I typically do the day I book... I had my heart set on BC but there was no availability for the week we are going so I am at YC instead. What are the chances that a SV or GV will become available so we can switch resorts? Does that happen frequently?

From the fifth floor, if you want the closest room to the entrance to SAB, you would want the closest room to the elevator since you have to take the elevator to the lobby and then go to SAB. So request "room close to elevator" on your reservation.

I bet! Here too although I know it has to be ten times colder where you are.:scared1:
I have decided the older I get, the less I like cold weather.:headache:
Give me 90 please.:cool1::cool1:

Booked a few weeks ago YAY!! Our 1st stay at the BC!

Nov 21-30 club level

we are Contemporary lovers so this is really outside of our zone!! I feel like this is planning a whole new vacation!

I keep saying that I will really miss the monorail and then people say NO YOU WON'T AFTER LAYING YOUR EYES ON THE BEACH CLUB

+-

The buses to the PARKS start running an hour before what ever the park opening time is for that day's schedule.

If you have a Resort to Resort transportation need it depends on where the resort is as to whether you can take a bus or need a cab.

For example:
For a Magic Kingdom area resort you can take the bus to MK and then a boat to the Wilderness lodge or Fort Wilderness

and a boat/Monorail to the Poly and Grand Floridian.

For the Contemporary it's just a short walk from the MK bus terminal or you could torture yourself and walk all the way over to the time eating Monorail and take that to the Contemporary.

For the Epcot area resorts you could take the bus to Hollywood Studios (NOT EPCOT, they won't let you walk through UNLESS you have a breakfast meal in one of the countries like Norway and Akershus!) and walk the 1 mile path to the Epcot area resorts (Swan/Dolphin Boardwalk/Yacht and Beach Clubs). I'm not sure if the boats are running then but they might be.

For Downtown Disney I have no clue... I'm not sure what time Bippity Boppity opens at DTD.

As for the other resorts, that are AWAY from Disney parks, I'm thinking that a cab is the best bet. Yeah sure you could take a bus to a park and then catch a bus from the park back to the resort you are trying to get to, but this would take a lot longer and be stressful as you ate up time with the uncertainty of whether or not your bus would come and you would make your reservation time.

When you take a cab, it's in the 10 to 20 dollar range, depending on where you want to go, and it's a lot more relaxing knowing that there are no uncomfortable variables like if the next bus is coming or if it will be full and you have to stand.

I just budget about a $100 extra dollars for cabs in my trip plans. I usually never use all that amount and having the cab option is totally worth it as it provides more time in a very busy schedule and it is far more relaxing to just hop into a cab and get there right when I need to.

To put it in a time perspective you could spend almost an hour and a half waiting for a bus to come and then getting to a place where you have to make yet another transportation connection to get to your final destination.

So to sum it up... if you are simply going from a resort to a park, Disney transportation is fine and no cab is needed, even for the early morning restaurant reservations or early park special tours like the Behind the Steam Trains tour. Remember that the buses start running an hour before that day's park opening.

If you are going from a resort that is not connected to a park area like from the Yacht Club to Caribbean Beach, a cab is really your best bet unless you want to eat up an hour and a half of transportation time using Disney transportation from your resort ~to a park ~to the other resort.

I hope that helps!

Thx! My concern was the BBB and CRT, the BBB is at 8:00 but park doesn't open till 9:00. I assume we will have to take a cab, but I thought I read someone hooped on the early bus at 7:15 for an 8:00 reservation at MK and park didn't open till 9:00.. I think well probably just cab it. My understanding is the cab won't take you to the MK gate, so I guess well have to take a cab to a MK resort and walk or monorail it... Thx!

You can take a cab, but the buses start rolling at 6:30AM for early ADRs.

are the cabs readily available early in the morning waiting in front of the resort?

thanks!

I still think I will miss the monorail LOL!

hoping the cub level is great!!

Your poor friends. Getting sick on vacation is awful. Hope they feel better soon!

Lol!! I'll need to be flat like Dee and Mike are for this meet... I'll be preparing for my move to Dallas, but I wish I was going to be there for this meet for sure!!

Glad to hear you are okay today! Given how close the meet up is to your move I understand why you can't join us, but I would have loved to have you there.
That's great!! :cool1:

NinjaMom, you're killing me.

Yes, that's Chris Evans you captured on the slide...at my request. If I ever found him in SAB, you'd never get me out. No really. Keep charging my Discover...then I'll sell JNPants....then my soul. Then you can send the police after me, but they'll need to bring a crowbar to pry me off of him. Good luck with that.

Ahhh! just about 5 months out from a BC and YC stay! :cloud9:
I'm having a few minor medical procedures done over the next week (nothing huge, but I HATE hospitals/procedures), and some heavy duty planning is helping. We did our ADRs recently...thought I'd share.

On our first day, we check into BC, and whereas we'll be celebrating our anniversary, we have a dinner planned just for us at FLYING FISH CAFE. It brings us back to our beloved BWI (It's some other Disney resort y'all have never heard of). This is JNPants' favorite WDW dining experience and I especially love eating at the bar. There is a Scottish bartender there whose name escapes me, but she's delightful. Hopefully she's there on 8/15

The next day, we dine like Danny Tanner and whats-her-name at CORAL REEF. Hopefully, John Stamos will be in the tank.

The next day, we transfer to the YC:boat: and my sister and her BF join us. At their request, we're dining at ARTIST POINT that night. JNPants has never been, and I haven't been since their Pocahontas breakfast (yes, you read that right) that I attended with aforementioned sister when she was about 9. She's currently about to turn 26. Can't wait. There was actually a menu item at AP that made JNPants tear up with delight. Food does it for him.

Monday, before the BC/YC meet-up, we're dining for the first time at BIERGARTEN. It looks interesting. Apparently, we could be seated with other diners. We'll see how that goes. :scratching

Tuesday, we're having lunch at CAPTAIN'S GRILL. Why? Because we're staying at the YC. Pay attention. It's right downstairs and it's solid. This could change to CREW'S CUP LOUNGE though if the mood strikes. We'll see.

On Wednesday, we're having the most expensive breakfast of our lives at CINDERELLA'S ROYAL TABLE. I was last there when I was 7. No one else in our party has ever been. I doubt it was $58 for pancakes back in '86.

On Thursday, there's a Cobb Salad and a Dorma Nesmond martini with my name on it when we have lunch at the HOLLYWOOD BROWN DERBY. Like Lucy, I'll be looking for William Holden.

On Friday, aka our companions' last night, we dine at NARCOOSSEE'S. I love it there, but the last time we went, our waiter went out of his way to rush us along. It left a wee bit of a sour taste in my mouth....but nothing that a few years away hasn't cured. I can't wait!

On Saturday, we transfer from YC to the Grand Dame of Disney...the GF. We celebrate by immediately leaving the GF and having dinner at KONA CAFE at the Poly. This place is no frills, but the food is great. It's been a few years since I've been there, and there's got to be a Lapu Lapu there with my name on it.

Finally, on our last night, Sunday, 8/24, we eat at a reliable favorite of ours: CITRICO'S. This place has never been a fail.

I'm so excited!:lovestruc
